It tasted okay. It was a little bit bland because I didn't put sugar or salt like the recipe called for. The berries do add a little flavour though!

If you decide to try the recipe, make sure you cook the oatmeal first! The steel cut oats take more time to cook than the instant oats. They're really hard if you don't cook them. Now, that's what I call "roughage"!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09251507898309184477noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22578035.post-79727107631673408032008-07-10T09:41:00.000-04:002008-07-10T09:41:00.000-04:00Jan:I went to a healthy eating conference last yea...Jan:
I went to a healthy eating conference last year (or was it the year before? I can't remember). Bonnie Stern was one of the speakers and she was saying that if you add oatmeal to your cooking, it can lower cholesterol. Like when you make meatloaf or when you make banana bread or muffins, just add some oatmeal. I thought that was pretty neat.

Neither Hubby nor I have high cholesterol, but I try to prevent these things. Plus, I like oatmeal! Hmmmm...well, maybe not the steel cut oats so much!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09251507898309184477noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22578035.post-41442141824590289172008-07-10T09:37:00.000-04:002008-07-10T09:37:00.000-04:00Autumn's Mom:LOL! Maybe next time I won't try to go au naturel and may give in and add some honey. Oh! I didn't even think of adding cinnamon! Maybe that would have helped!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09251507898309184477noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22578035.post-11903527457189522212008-07-09T19:02:00.000-04:002008-07-09T19:02:00.000-04:00lol! you crack me up chris! you are so brave to ea...lol! you crack me up chris! you are so brave to eat oatmeal with nothing else in it! i can't do that; i need me some brown sugar!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22578035.post-14930244004869851242008-07-09T18:17:00.000-04:002008-07-09T18:17:00.000-04:00My cholesterol is not a problem, but everyone I co...My cholesterol is not a problem, but everyone I cook for has a problem, so thanks for the recipe.Janhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07145008534811435024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-22578035.post-23054679168295083032008-07-09T18:07:00.000-04:002008-07-09T18:07:00.000-04:00I would eat them in a bran muffin for sure...but I...I would eat them in a bran muffin for sure...but I don't think i could stomach steal cut oats :( I'm barely able to take the simple just add water kind ;) yay you for trying it.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
