Can't I Just Let Go A Little Bit???
DISCLAIMER: This post may be offensive to those who feel awkward about bathroom talk. Okay, this post is full of TMI (too much information)! If you are easily offended, please move on. If not, enjoy and have a few laughs.
If you've ever had to have an ultrasound done, you know the drill. Empty bladder at such and such time. Drink 30 to 40 oz. of water within a certain amount of time. Hold.
I always love ultrasound days. I've actually gone in for four with this pregnancy so far. There's just something so exciting about seeing your little one moving about inside you. In the early stages of pregnancy, when you're not looking pregnant yet, but certainly feeling it (uhhh...the all day nausea was what I felt!), it's hard to believe there's a living being growing inside you. Before you can feel the movements and kicks from that little miracle in you, it's hard to believe someone's actually in there. Then there's the ultrasound. Visual proof that you're actually hosting and nurturing your future baby. That very first ultrasound or the one when you can see the baby's heart beating...That is incredible. I can't describe how incredible the feeling is.
Now, the only thing I do not look forward to with ultrasound day is the having to gulp down all that water. Hold. HOLD??? Are they crazy? Sure, especially in earlier pregnancies the bladder has to be full in order for the technician to get an easier scan of the uterus' location. The fluid in the bladder also provides a good medium for sound conduction. Blah, blah, blah. Despite all this, "holding it in" is still a difficult feat to accomplish.
For my second ultrasound, I did exactly as directed. I drank and I drank and I held and I held.We ended up having to wait a bit longer than we thought because there was another expectant mom before us. Well, it's pretty darn difficult for a pregnant lady to "hold it". Know what I mean? I was determined to maintain my full bladder so the technician could see what she needed to see.
Minutes seemed like hours. I was practically in tears. It is not the most comfortable situation to be in. I don't know if Hubby was more amused or concerned, because I started whining like a two year old. "I've got to peeeeeeeeee!!!" Then I started sweating. Yes, sweating! That's how bad it was!
It was either:
A) I throw up from the nausea I felt coming on
B) I pass out right there in the waiting room from the headache and dizziness that were starting
C) I end up getting a urinary tract infection
D) I die a painful and unbearable death (Okay, maybe I exaggerate just a little)
E) I go to the bathroom.
I couldn't take it anymore, and it didn't look like I'd be getting into the ultrasound room any sooner, so I made a decision.
I was going to let go just a little. Hubby, seeing my discomfort said, "Okay. Do you think you can just let go a tiny bit and then stop?" I was almost in tears. "Yeah, yeah! I can do that. I just have to go before I pee in my pants! It's killing me!" Hubby nodded and said he thought it would be okay if I let out just a little squirt to relieve myself.
Big mistake. I should have known better. I think in the back of my mind, I actually knew that when one has to go, one simply cannot just let a little squirt out and then stop. You cannot just stop midway! It's impossible! Okay, maybe if you're super talented you can. I couldn't.
I was in the ladies' room for a while and when I came out, Hubby was waiting. "Did you stop halfway?"
"I couldn't! It just wouldn't stop!"
Then the technician came for us. We got ready for the ultrasound. I was on my back on the ultrasound table (or bed...whatever). She was poking around with the ultrasound wand, and she said, "Hmmm. Your bladder isn't quite as full as I'd like it to be." I wanted to tell her about the excruciating pain 'holding it' had put me through, but I didn't. She probably hears that a lot from pregnant women.
We did get to see the baby and everything is going as it should. Baby is healthy and progressing nicely. All limbs, fingers, toes, ears, eyes, and organs are accounted for. The baby is measuring as it should for its age. All is well.
What I've learned is: No, you cannot let go even just a little bit. At least I can't. In university, when my friends and I would go out for drinks, the guys always talked about how once you "break the seal" that's it. You're done. I never understood the true meaning of that expression until I had my second ultrasound.
NOTE: In case you're wondering why I had to explain that TMI means "Too Much Information", it's because some people (like my dear mom) aren't familiar with some of those terms and I therefore don't use them too often.
Mom and I had this lengthy exchange on Facebook (yes, my mom is on Facebook, as is the rest of my family). Mom's sister posted a photo on her FB and wrote "RLMFHO" as the caption. Mom asked me what RLMFHO meant. I said I had absolutely no idea. I had never heard of that before. I knew that RLMFAO meant "Really Laughing My F-ing A$$ Off" because I've got a brother who is considerably younger than I am and he uses all those terms like LOL, TTYL, TTYS, and KWIM all the time.
Anyway, we had this long FB debate as to what RLMFHO meant and my aunt joined in and told us that we were both wrong. Mom said she thought it was "Really Laughing My F-ing Heart Out" and my aunt laughed and told us it really meant "Really Laughing My F-ing Head Off".
*sigh* Technology certainly seems to have made language all that more difficult to interpret.

Woah Oh! We're Halfway There...
The belly seems to change shape and morph all the time. Hubby calls me a "shape shifter". Today it looks pointier and smaller than it did three weeks ago. What do you think?
Above photo taken on Labour Day Weekend
Since the title of this post reminds me a lot of a song by one of my favourite bands as a teen, here's a video for you.I think I was in grade 5 when this song came out. I still remember all the words to the song. My friends and I used to sing Bon Jovi tunes all the time. We were in luuuuv with Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora! I also remember buying the Slippery When Wet LP (yes, vinyl!) with my saved up allowance and birthday money. I later upgraded to a cassette tape, which years later was upgraded to a CD. Oh, how times have changed!

You know you're from Quebec when...
All you can think of is this!!!
For as long as I can remember, being from Montreal entailed being fluently bilingual in English and French, being surrounded by most of the street signs, highway signs, store signs in French and not even noticing that the signs weren't in English, being a fan of the Arts, being a die hard Montreal Canadiens' fan, loving hockey, and loving a really good poutine (preferably from La Belle Province)!
I don't usually eat junk food or anything fried, but whenever I'm back home I always have me some poutine! Icannot will not refuse to eat poutine if it's not Quebecoise. No offense, but in Ontario it just isn't the same. Even big franchises like NY Fries and A&W have poutine on their menus, but they are not really good. I think the cheese curds and the gravy aren't the same as the type we have in Quebec. I know, I've been told I'm a food snob before. I can't help it. I'd rather not eat something if it isn't done the right way. There's a difference between good bad food and just plain bad food.
I remember getting together with friends and my cousins and brothers on a Saturday night to watch a Canadiens' game on TV. We'd send my cousins (Ed3 and Youngest Cousin) out on a poutine run. They'd come back from La Belle with family sized boxes of poutine and a few hot dogs on steamed buns. Of course, you can't watch a hockey game without beer (although I usually skip that part because I cannot stand the smell or taste of beer).
These days, with me being pregnant, the thought of anything fried, greasy and cheesy just makes me want to gag. Poutine has got to be one of the most artery clogging things you can eat. I call it a "heart attack waiting to happen". Will I have some when I go back home to visit in October? I don't know. Most probably not. This baby I'm carrying inside me just does not like anything fried or greasy.
One last thing for Rosie and all my other Francophone readers...
This has got to be the funniest thing I have ever seen or heard! Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! My cousin sent this to me a while ago, but every time I need a good laugh, I watch it again and again. Make sure your volume is turned up.
Basically, the cartoon is about some scenes from a Batman and Robin movie. The funny part is choosing which French version to use: The French from France version or the French from Quebec version? If you speak or understand French, you'll see how funny it is! It's funny because it's sooooooooo true! I remember when I was living in Montreal, I had a friend whose parents were from France. One Thanksgiving, we were all chatting at the dinner table, and her family just burst out in disgust, saying that "People in Quebec speak dirty French!" Actually, I believe the word they used was bastardized French! They went on about how Parisian French is the true French. I have to admit, Parisian French does sound nicer than the French spoken in Quebec.
After I left Quebec and moved to Ontario, I found it interesting to see how even though I speak French, the French I spoke in Quebec is MUCH different from the French spoken in Northern Ontario! Sometimes when my Francophone friends here speak to me, I have nooooooooo idea what they're talking about! All the expressions and the slang are different! Too funny!

Some of you may already know that one of my classmates from high school and I are organizing our 15 year high school reunion. Thanks to Facebook, Steve and I have managed to find most of our grad class. I started a Class of '93 group on Facebook for our grad class and I've also posted an events page on there too. Steve has been doing all the legwork on that end since he lives in Montreal still. (Thank you, Steve! I know you're really busy too!) I've been doing a lot of the contacting and sending messages and updates.
The reunion is scheduled to take place in Montreal next month. Getting an event like this together is more
I was thinking about the whole idea behind reunions. If a reunion "reunites" people, what if said group was never "united" to begin with? I figure that's one of the reasons some people don't go to these things. Some people probably feel "why bother?" or "that was ages ago and we've all moved on".
Then there is the matter of conflicting schedules. Many now live out of town (though it seems the majority of my graduating class still lives in Montreal). People need to find babysitters for their kids, some people already have prior engagements and family events. It is really hard to get everyone together and accommodate everyone.
For me, I really do want to see everyone again. Yes, we've all grown up and we've all started new lives since high school. However, there's just something nostalgic about going back to the good 'ol days and rehashing fun memories. I really loved high school. Of course, high school had its ups and downs, but overall, it was a great experience. Some of my most memorable times were in high school.
High school was also the last time I'd ever feel really carefree and at the height of my youth. After high school came CEGEP (post-secondary education/pre-university/college in Quebec), followed by university and summers filled with part-time jobs. Of course, I also had summer jobs in high school. It just seemed that after high school, life was all serious business and all about the future.
Another reason I would go to our reunion is because I am truly, honestly, and genuinely interested in seeing how everyone has been doing and what everyone has been up to. Of course, I'm not interested in the "OMG! Did you see what so-and-so looks like now?" or "Wow! So-and-so gained umpteen pounds since graduation!". No. Not like that at all. I'm not that kind of person.
Did you attend your high school reunion? Would you go to your reunion? Why or why not?

Little Treasures
Though this trimester has been far better than the first, there remains one thing that is constant: My need to go to the loo every thirty minutes! Okay...I exaggerate, but it seems frequent enough! EVERY morning since the beginning of this trimester, I have been getting up at 4AM to pee. I know, too much information there! ;) It really frustrates me though. Why 4AM? Why not 6AM? Wouldn't that be reasonable?
But alas, it's 4AM every day. Hubby can tell the time just by me getting out of bed. The problem is that I can't get back to sleep once I'm awake. Reading a book won't help. I just get too wrapped up in the book and will stay awake to finish it. Watching a movie won't work either. I'll end up watching the entire thing to see how it ends. Forget about going online. I'd never get back to sleep! Hey, I might actually catch up on reading my favourite blogs finally!
The only thing that seems to work is for me to watch infomercials and The Home Shopping Channel. Now, that puts me right to sleep!!! However, I must say that I was almost tempted to buy the GT Xpress 101!
To be honest with you, I'm a sucker for kitchen gadgets. I love cooking for friends and family. I love kitchen stuff! Luckily, that thought of purchasing the GT Xpress at 4AM was short lived and I fell asleep. I was also almost tempted to become a foster parent through World Vision and save millions of cats and dogs from abuse. The SPCA has the most tear-jerking stories! Being a pet owner and an animal lover, they get me all the time! I swear, pregnant women should not be allowed to watch these things on TV! I was bawling my eyes out, and ready to reach for the phone.
This morning, as usual, I got up at 4AM to visit the loo. Only this time, I tried something different to put me to sleep. I started doing housework. Yes, at 4 in the morning! I washed almost every single dish I could find, I tidied up the kitchen, and I fed all the animals (and met a fox and a skunk along the way)! I almost started the laundry, but didn't think my husband would appreciate that at that early hour.
When I got up, it was complete darkness. I did get to watch the sunrise as I did the dishes (oh, sooooooo many of them)! I haven't watched the sunrise in ages. I usually get up at 7AM! It is absolutely amazing what you see in the early hours of the morning!
I also went to the Farmers' Market at 9AM. I brought back a little treat for Hubby.
This biscuit had raisins and a hint of orange (I don't know if it was orange peel or marmalade, but it was good)!
Another little treasure:
Hubby's youngest sister sent us some Jalapeno and cheddar stuffed perogies! She knew that I've been craving spicy things this trimester. They sure had a lot of kick to them!
Remember I said that there are so many little treasures outside? I was trying to take a photo of this fox (a very brazen one, I might add!) who was hanging around the cattle. I was too slow, but managed to capture this cute exchange:
One of the barn cats was hanging out by the cattle and this one cow came up and licked her!
Some of the girls. So pretty!
I thought this was a neat find. I don't think it's edible though.
I didn't think my butternut squash was going to come because not all of the plants were pollinated early enough. We've got a few though! Yay! Butternut squash is one of my favourites! Hubby's not much of a fan though. He calls it "squish".
Some other treasures: Everything on our plates (except for the salmon) is from our gardens.
Last little treasure: Some of my baby toys. I know, who on earth has seven Cabbage Patch Kids?? Okay, six Cabbage Patch Kid and a Cabbage Patch Pet! Well, I had to work really hard for the first one! I had to earn straight A's and successfully complete all my chores! That's a really hard feat to accomplish! My parents never just gave us things. We had to know the value of work to get things. Now that I think of it, it is so much more rewarding and you appreciate the prize all the more when you have to work for it.
The remaining Cabbage Patch Kids? Well, the first one wasn't the one I wanted and the store ran out of CPKs. My mom wrote to the company, and I think they made a mistake because the Cabbage Patch Kids kept coming!
While unearthing all my other childhood things, we found some baby blankets, baby clothing (family heirlooms) and other toys. My mom found my New Kids on the Block doll and had a kick out of reminding me of my youthful dreams. "Isn't this the guy you were going to marry?" She burst out into laughter and added, "Oh, which one was Mrs. Hollywood going to marry?"--
Then she had to tell my husband about the whole plan that I was to marry Jordan Knight and Mrs. Hollywood was to marry Joe McIntyre. Mrs. Hollywood is actually going to the NKOTB concert in Toronto. What a blast from the past that would be!
To save myself from the embarrassment, I didn't take any photos of my NKOTB Jordan doll. I know I'd get some teasing from Canine if I did! ;)

I don't want to know
Yes, I do! No, I don't! *ARGH!*
We went in for our 19 week ultrasound this afternoon and all was great! It's amazing just how much the technician can actually see! Our technician showed us everything from the cute little fingers and toes, to the four chambers of the baby's heart! (The fetal heart rate is now down to 147 from 176-178 in the first ultrasound and 154 in the second ultrasound). The kidneys and other organs were easy for her to point out (yet, I had no idea what I was looking at!). Hubby, having some knowledge of these things, was really enthusiastic and oooh-ing and ahhh-ing along with the tech. Hubby always thinks it's so neat to see the wee one do all those kicks and punches, and sway his/her head from side to side (as though he/she is training for kickboxing or something)!
When we found out we were expecting, Hubby and I decided early on that we did not want to know if we were having a boy or a girl. We knew that no matter what sex the baby is, we would love him or her all the same.
Usually I like to be in control of everything. I like to know what is going on at all times and I like to be prepared. Oh, I wasn't always like this. I used to be pretty laid back and extremely easy going. As I get older, I feel like I've become a bit of a control freak. This is why I thought I'd be obsessed with all the planning and absolutely need to find out the sex of the baby so we could decorate the baby's room accordingly and purchase all the clothing according to the baby's gender. For some reason, I'm on the fence on this one. I'm neither freakishly obsessive (don't ask Hubby though, because he might say the opposite!) nor am I all laissez-faire about the pregnancy and the baby.
Well, we are decorating the baby's room in a pretty neutral/non-gender specific motif (yellows and greens). Here are a couple baby room ideas I was thinking of. Of course we have to include a farm theme! We live on a farm! :) Baby's gotta know what a heifer, steer, cow and bull are! There are beef cattle and dairy cattle. Oh, and Baby's most certainly got to learn that not all cattle are cows!
Since Hubby really wasn't pressing to find out the sex, I went along with it. I have to say that I have been dying to know though! I've been having dreams of the baby being a boy. Dreams that to the point they almost feel real! However, every now and then I think it just may be a girl.
Today, the baby was moving quite a bit and we didn't end up finding out the sex of the baby anyway. Perhaps it's a sign that we're not supposed to find out and that "Junior" wants to surprise us in a few months!
**Oh, thanks to all our friends and family who have joined our baby pool! We are getting a kick out of all your predictions on the baby's sex, weight, length, and birth date! I must say that some of you shocked me when you predicted that I'd be giving birth to an 8+ lb baby! GAH!!! That's scary huge! I was 5 lb. 6 oz. when I was born! Ooooh...I am soooo dreading delivery day! LOL!

Babies EVERYWHERE!!!
The year Hubby and I got married, six of my friends were pregnant. The first year of our marriage, another six friends were pregnant. It seemed that almost everyone we knew was having babies. Though we were just newlyweds, I just wanted to have a baby right away. On one hand, I wanted to spend at least two years with Hubby alone before we started a family, yet at the same time, that yearning for a family of our own was constantly on my mind...and in my heart. This year, Hubby and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary. This time, twenty-one (yes, TWENTY-ONE!) of our friends were (some still are) expecting! Twenty-one of my in real life friends are having babies! This isn't counting all my blog buddies who are pregnant now (that would have to be for another post, because quite a few blog pals are pregnant too!) Crazy! People I grew up with, went to school with, worked with, traveled with, lived with, hung out with...all expecting babies around the same time!
This time, we were one of those couples! :)
We found out we were pregnant with our first and then shortly after, my brother and his wife found out that they were expecting their second AND third! TWINS! So exciting!
Just last night, we discovered that my cousin (Mr. Married Winkel) and his wife are expecting too! Mrs. Married Winkel is two months pregnant! The funny thing is that I have been having recurring dreams that my SIL, Mrs. Married Winkel and I were pregnant at the same time! We really are!!! I'm tellin' ya, these premonition dreams are freaking me out! ;)
Just tonight, we were given even more exciting news! One of my best friends (and one of my bridesmaids at our wedding) is three months pregnant! I've always wanted to be pregnant at the same time as my friends. It's wonderful being able to go through our pregnancies together, share questions, concerns...and even compare notes! I'm just so sad that we all live so far apart!
Congratulations to my friends who have had their babies already (this year) and to all those expecting :)

We have our BIG ultrasound tomorrow and will be able to find out the sex of the baby. Hubby and I have decided that we aren't going to find out. We want to leave some element of surprise to look forward to! However, my curiosity is killing me! Will I be able to avoid temptation or will I succumb to my curious nature? Hmph!
I promise after tomorrow, I'll cool it with all the baby posts! I know it must be getting pretty old for some of you right now! ;)

Conversations Between a Man and his Pregnant Wife
I've been feeling slight fluttering movements since week 14. They have been really faint, but noticeable. Now that we are heading into week 19, the fluttering has become stronger. They're not actual kicks yet, but can this baby ever move!!!
Last night, Hubby and I were watching American Gangster and all of a sudden, I felt lots of movement coming from baby!
Me: Quick! Put your hand on my belly!
Hubby: Whoa!!! Junior's really moving in there!
Me: What does it feel like?
Hubby: Well, it feels like these waves underneath my hands. Not punches, but sort of like pushing.
Me: Do you really feel it too or are you just saying that you feel it because you know that I want you to say that you feel it?
I really didn't think any movement would be felt until we reached week 20 or 22. Now, I cannot wait until we get some real kicking action! So exciting!!!
My belly seems to have grown overnight. It happened a few weeks ago. One morning, I woke up and Hubby was stunned. He put his hand on my belly and remarked at how it seems to have just grown suddenly.
Me: Awwww! Look! My tummy is showing now! (excited and smiling)
Hubby: (smiling, he puts his hand on my belly) Hi, Junior! This is your Daddy! Be good to your Mommy. Don't give her a hard time.
Me: Honey, do you think my belly looks gross? It's HUGE!
Hubby: (giving me a hug before he proceeds to rub my belly) No! It's cute! Now I've got my very own little Buddha!
Me: (scowling) I don't think that's something you should say to a pregnant woman!
LOL!
Melanie (my SIL Lele's sister) just had a baby last week. Congrats to the new parents! Welcome to the world, Mia! Mel and I chatted on Facebook about the birth. She said she had a good delivery, which was very reassuring to me. The one thing I dread the most about pregnancy is giving birth. I don't know why, but it absolutely terrifies me. Perhaps it is because I'm not good with pain, I can't stand the sight of blood, I fear the unknown...oh, and did I mention how bad I am with pain???
Yes, I am well aware that women around the world have been giving birth since the beginning of time. It still doesn't take away the fear I have of the actual birthing process.
Me: I wonder if there's any way during the delivery that the doctors can knock me out cold and then wake me up as soon as the baby arrives?
Hubby: (laughing) Oh, you'll be fine.
Me: Yeah. That's because you don't have to go through it!
(Hubby gives me a hug and smiles)
Me: What's an episiotomy?
Hubby: I think it's when they cut you so that it makes it easier for the baby to come out.
All of a sudden, I burst out into tears. I'm talking FULL ON BAWLING MY EYES OUT at this point.
Hubby: They put you under local anesthetic so you won't feel it. Plus, you probably won't even need one. Don't worry. (Another hug)
Me: I DON'T WANNA SQUEEZE OUT A BABY ANYMORE!!!! (Still in tears)
Seriously, can't they just knock me out cold?
P.S. Check out Mel's website! She creates lots of cute wall art for nurseries, bedrooms and playrooms!

Your Movie Buff Quotient: 92% |
You are a movie buff of the most obsessive variety. If a movie exists, chances are that you've seen it. You're an expert on movie facts and trivia. It's hard to stump you with a question about film. |
There are a few things I miss from my life in Toronto. I miss my friends, the school I taught at, the restaurants, the shopping, the nightlife, the multiculturalism, and the International Film Festival.
When I taught in Toronto, it wasn't uncommon to go "stargazing". Not the kind of stargazing one would to here in the country. This was entirely different! In the weeks leading up to and following the International Film Festival, it wasn't uncommon to have a

(Photo from here via Google Images)with my students at Second Cup after work and find Robin Williams sitting at the next table. He chatted with my students and seemed quite interested that they were studying English as a second language in Toronto.
In September, Toronto has its fill of stars. It isn't shocking to see A listers (and even D listers!) in the entertainment district or even just going shopping. My Mexican students went gaga over Dean Cain (from the Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman TV series).
The Olson twins, on the other hand, went pretty much unnoticed. They were in Chapters surrounded by bodyguards, yet no one was really paying any attention to them. My students asked me, "Are they famous or something?".
Much to the dismay of many readers out there, I am not too much of a huge blockbuster fan. In truth, I prefer independent films. I love, love, love foreign films. Among my all time favourites will always be Betty Blue (aka: 37°2 le matin), Amores Perros, Il Postino, and Como Agua Para Chocolate.
One of the things I miss about Toronto is being able to view so many incredible films whenever I feel like it. With Star Choice (satellite TV) and DVDs it's not impossible to see great films. It's just not the same as being able to sit back in those big, plush movie theater chairs and get lost in the moment.
The Movie Of Your Life Is Film Noir |
So what if you're a little nihilistic at times? Life with meaning is highly over-rated. Your best movie matches: Sin City, L. A. Confidential, Blade Runner |
Okay, that was a bit of a surprise! I would have thought I'd be more of a romantic movie kinda gal!

Bittersweet
WARNING: LONG post (since I haven't posted since last week)!
Labour Day Weekend has always been bittersweet for me. Though it's a time spent with friends and family, and sharing some laughs and good times, it also signals the end of the summer. As a child, it always meant that school would start soon after. It would be the end of all the summer fun...until next year.
This Labour Day long weekend was one of the best ones I've ever had. Mr. and Mrs. Hollywood spent a few days with us on "The Island".

Mrs. Hollywood has already started spoiling "Junior". She got the baby his/her first toy and first book. This is the toy she got the baby.
I got excited and said that we really want to encourage creativity and stimulate the senses. This is a fantastic idea! Hubby liked it too, but he said "Oh! That's great! Something that lights up and makes lots of noise!" ;)
We took my nieces to Hubby's and my favourite place on the Island. There's nothing like spending the day at the beach! We were "beach hoppers" this weekend and tried to hit as many beaches as we could! Living on the Island, there are beautiful beaches in every direction you drive!
The Hollywoods went to their very first "fish fry" and we almost ended up going to a good 'ol country dance/concert just to see what it was like. I've never been to a dance like that before and I'm generally not much of a country music fan, but I'm the type of person who will give everything a try before I pass any judgment :) Unfortunately (or fortunately?) we were all exhausted come 8PM and decided to head home.
We didn't end up going to bed until midnight though! It's so hard to say goodnight when you're in good company.

We reconvened for supper and ended the evening with a bit of stargazing. The Hollywoods were so amazed to see how spectacular the night skies are here. Never had they seen so many stars. It was quite amazing. Hubby says it's something he sometimes takes for granted because it's normal for him to see such breathtaking night skies. Although I have lived here for four years, I never cease to be amazed by how stunning all the stars are. We are truly lucky to see this all the time.
The last day of their stay was spent beach hopping (while poor Hubby worked on the farm). Mr. and Mrs. Hollywood and I first went on the trails at the Bridal Veil Falls and ended up swimming at Mudge Bay.

We sauntered over to the Chocolate Works. Sadly, they were closed on Labour Day!!!! What a disappointment :( Sorry, Canine and Jeanna! I'll have to make a special trip out there for you next time :)
After grabbing a bite to eat for lunch, we hopped on over to Providence Bay, where we spent the rest of our afternoon.
The Hollywoods are true sun worshipers. They are veritable beach bums. I love it! I'm a water baby myself and can spend hours swimming. Mrs. Hollywood and I were just saying how much fun it would be to take "Junior" to the beach when he or she gets older.
We stopped off for ice cream on our way home. You can't come to the Island and not have Farquhars' ice cream!!! I didn't have any though. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to eat ice cream or anything sinful or sweet with this pregnancy. So sad :( Ice cream and sweets make me still make me very nauseous and sick.
Of course, after a wonderful leisurely day in the sun and at the beach, what should we return to?
The "girls" and their calves broke out of the pasture they were supposed to be in and were having a ball where they weren't supposed to be! Poor Hubby had to round them up.
Finally, with regard to my question on a recent post of mine (What to do with all these fresh veggies?), my pal Rosie at Telling Mom suggested "zucchini pizzas"! I don't know if this is what you had in mind, Rosie! Basically, I sliced a gigantic zucchini into rounds,
added spices, tomatoes, cheese and other toppings,
and baked it in the oven for 25-30 minutes.
It was a great meatless and wheat-free alternative to pizza :)

By the way, did I tell you how HUGE I am??? Almost halfway there, but am I ever HUGE!!! The most perplexing thing is that I went to the doctor today for my regular visit, and I was surprised when I was told that my weight has STAYED THE SAME!!! I haven't gained any weight. With a gigantic belly like this, HOW is that possible???
Showing Mr. and Mrs. Hollywood life on the farm.

The following day, I took the couple to the Farmer's Market and then Mr. and Mrs. Hollywood went touring around the Island. They hiked up the Cup and Saucer trail and checked out the Bridal Veil Falls.
In the photo below, Mr. Hollywood is pretending to fall off the cliff at the Cup and Saucer. If you've ever hiked up the Cup and Saucer, you will know that what he did is not funny!!! It's a really steep (and far) drop! We love Mr. Hollywood though. He is such a joker! :)
