Baby's First Photo

Hubby and I went for our first ultrasound this afternoon, and what an exciting time it was! Our little one is so tiny, but he or she already has a very strong heartbeat! Seeing that heartbeat for the first time was such a special moment. I feel a lot more at ease now that I've seen the ultrasound. Prior to our appointment, I had been a nervous wreck!

From the ultrasound, we discovered that our little one is a week and a bit younger than we thought he or she was! Looks like our baby will probably be born in early February instead of late January!

Oh Cannnn a daaa, still singing from the other day. A pretty exciting moment for you two (or three).

Jeanna:
LOL! I actually couldn't distinguish what was what! The technician had to point everything out to me! Hubby fared better than I did. I couldn't really see the heart beating but Hubby and the technician kept telling me that the little thing that looks like a little light flashing was the heart beating. It was really cool.

Thanks!!! :) I'm totally putting that photo in the baby's scrapbook as "Baby's first photo"! LOL! I have a feeling I'll be annoying you guys with all the ultrasound photos and what not! ;p

Thank you! :) I know it may seem a bit "premature" to post a photo of the baby when it's still so early...but I can't help it! I'm so excited! LOL!
How have you been lately?

Aya:
Thank you very much! It was a pleasant surprise to see your comment! Are you still in Japan? Do you get to use English at your work? Take care and hope to hear from you again soon!

I got the invite and was about to join...until I realized I don't know a single thing about football! LOL!

awe! look at your adorable little peanut! i loved my ultrasounds and looked forward to them with all three of our sprouts; they sometimes ask me to bring out the baby books so they could see there ultrasound photos.

enjoy the rest of your pregnancy and hopefully your nausea and morning sickness will go away in a few weeks .

It's a relief to see the baby in there isn't it?? I remember one of mine and just listening to the tech point out everything. My response? (after not making out anything but the head) "Wow, you are really good at your job!" haha

How exciting! Ultrasounds are so special :) I always looked forward to them.

Did they tell you the heartrate? They say that if it's over 140-ish it's a girl, and below it's a boy....just an old wives tale :) But it was right for us ;)

Hot Mommy:
I can see why you loved getting your ultrasounds done! I wish I could get them every week! LOL!

Autumn's Mom:
Haha! I was thinking the exact same thing! The technician was just pointing things out and showing us where everything was. I wasn't really seeing anything except the head either!

Sandy:
REALLY!?!?!? WOW! That is so interesting! The technician did tell us what the heart rate was. She said it was 178 bpm! Hmmmm...I wonder if this means we're having a girl?

We've decided to not find out the sex of the baby and let it be a surprise. We'll be happy with a boy or a girl. For our first baby, we wanted to be surprised. It's kind of like opening your birthday present before your birthday! LOL!

That's cool C. Can't wait to see the first baby pic in 2009!!!!

Couldn't help but admire Aya's Engrish! You know I mean that in the sweetest way!

I can't believe I signed up on Jeanna's Fanatasy Football league????
I'd probably do better at reading baby's ultrasound!!!!!!!

Oh yay! Have him/her on my birthday Feb 8th. :) It's a great day!

Okay I won't call the baby "peanut"... maybe kidney bean (that's what we called L during his first photos!). That first heartbeat just melts you, doesn't it?
And our predictions were along the lines of Sandy (my mother, an ob nurse, had about 99% accuracy based on heart-rate even back in the 60s. She was bang on ... higher rate,a girl; lower a boy.)

Just sayin...:)

Thank you!! You are so right! It is a very special time. I love the idea of carrying a baby in me for 9 months but the actual birthing part totally scares the @#$% out of me! I'm hoping to enjoy the rest of the pregnancy as soon as all the icky all day sickness abates :) Hopefully that'll be over in a few weeks?

Jimmy:
I'm not sure, but I think Hubby may be signing up for Jeanna's Fantasy Football League too! LOL! He hasn't really been on the computer much since he's been working in the field all day and doesn't come home until dark. He's baling hay and barley right now.

I was going to accept Jeanna's invitation, but I don't know a single thing about football! LOL!

Lisa:
With my luck, this baby will probably want to hang in there for as long as possible! LOL! So...he or she may very well be born on your birthday! LOL!

Karen:
I have to admit that when the technician was pointing the heartbeat out, I was like, "Uhhhhh!!! I DON'T SEE IT!" and Hubby seemed to be clear on spotting everything! I finally saw it and it was soooo cool! Actually, a huge wave of relief washed over me. I worry about everything, so seeing the baby and the heartbeat on the screen totally put me at ease...for now! LOL!
