Too short...

is what his time with us always is. Baby Bro is up on the Island for a few days. Having him here always makes me happy and sad at the same time. I'm happy because I love spending as much time with Baby Bro as possible. I always enjoy his visits. I'm also sad because I know that his visits eventually come to an end and saying goodbye is always so hard. He's such a busy boy with university and work...and all of the extra things he has going on. I know he can't come up as often as we'd like him to. I hate that we live so far away from Baby Bro.Here's a photo of Mom and Baby Bro. Mom is always so happy when Baby Bro comes up to visit. She spoils him rotten by cooking all of his favourite dishes. The only time she makes lasagna is when Baby Bro comes home.

Dad loves just throwing the baseball around with Baby Bro. The two just talk for hours. Dad also has that special smile on his face when Baby Bro is here. Every time Baby Bro goes back to K-town, we all suffer from withdrawal.

I'm torn because I love living on the Island. I just LOVE it. We have a really great life here and it's such a beautiful place. The only thing is that I miss Baby Bro. He asked me if we would ever consider moving somewhere closer to K-town, like maybe back to Toronto or Montreal. It's so hard for me because I don't think I'd ever want to live in the city ever again, but at the same time, being away from my family absolutely tears me apart.

Aww - what a bittersweet post. And Baby Bro doesn't really look like a baby - he's a tall drink of water that one!

Tee hee! I always call him my baby brother, even when he's much taller than me. He's not a kid anymore...that's for sure! He'll be 22 this August!

LOL! Really??
I'm off to check out what's new with you. I've been a rather negligent blogger since Baby Bro's been here. Whenever he visits, I'm rarely on the computer!
I was going to take him to the Bridal Veil Falls and to the Chocolate Works, but he really just wanted to chill out and not do anything. He says he's around people all the time and all he wants to do when he's here is go to the beach, relax, SLEEP...
I kind of wanted to pick up some stuff for you at the Chocolate Works though! LOL! Next time! :)

Ohhhh...I guess now I know how my Mom feels. My parents are my only family here (well, Hubby's Mom, sister, nieces and brother-in-law are here too). My other brother and his wife are also in Kingston (an 11 hour drive from here) and they've got my Mom's only grandchild...until we have ours in the winter. Mom gets really sad sometimes and misses my little brother and her grandson.

Hey, photos would suffice. Let's go, yeahhhhh.
I guess we all know when to visit if we love lasagna.
Mmmmmmmm.

Let me get working on that Star Trek transporter thingy. That should make your dilema easier...

So glad you're getting to visit with your baby bro. And getting to eat lasagna (one of my favorite foods!). I know exactly what you're saying as I miss my family terribly but don't want to move back to Missouri.

Oh, C! I can imagine how hard it must be! I missed Audrey so much when she lived in NYC for 7 years, only getting to see her on short visits. Baby Bro is so lucky to have such a wonderful big sister!

Jane

I've never had to live away from family, I'm pretty lucky. I'm glad Baby Bro comes to visit from time to time though :)

Yep, I know what you are talking about. It's hard having your family away. Holidays are the worst for me, but having a baby helps. I know I have to create new holiday traditions for her sake, so I have been working on that.

I can relate so well to this. I love living in California, but most of my family is back east and telephones and email just are not the same.

How you feeling, C.? Hope you're staying cool, honey.

Thank you for checking in on me :) I'm doing okay. I've just been SUPER EXHAUSTED lately!
Nausea + exhaustion = oodles of fun!
Other than that, everything is going great :) It's been really hot here. My dog really wants me to take him to the beach. He makes me feel so bad when he looks at me with those puppy dog eyes every time I get into my vehicle. He loves going for rides in the car...especially to the beach! Maybe tomorrow.

VE:
That would be excellent if you could do that! I've been trying to figure out a way to do that for ages. No luck so far.

Yes, I guess you really do know how I feel! :) I do love going back to visit family in Toronto and Montreal, but don't see myself living there anymore...even though most of my loved ones are still there. You wouldn't move back to Missouri?
I visited a friend in Missouri and it was like being on a totally different planet! I loved it because it was so different from anywhere else that I have been to! I went to the Ozarks and to all the touristy spots. What's the name of the restaurant where the wait staff throws buns at their customers? I didn't know that they actually THREW the dinner rolls and we were supposed to catch them, so mine landed on the floor. They also come around with tubs of okra and other stuff and serve it to you at your table. Hmmmm...WHAT is the name of that place??

Zoe:
:) Now you're making me want to eat lasagna again!

Jane:
Awww! Thanks :) You are sooooooo lucky to be living so close to your parents AND your sis! You get to see your darling little nephews all the time :) Lucky!!! xo

Autumn's Mom:
Ohhh! Lucky you!! :) I wish my loved ones and I lived closer...only, I want THEM to move over HERE! LOL! ;)
Baby Bro visits as often as he can, which is a few times a year and mostly on holidays. Gosh! I miss that kid already and he's only been gone 24 hrs!

That is so true. My MIL mentioned that to me the other day. She said with most of my loved ones living so far and some of my best girlfriends moving off the Island, this baby couldn't have come at a better time :) I think she is right!

Jan:
That is so true! E-mail and telephone just aren't the same as spending time with loved ones in person!
