He's gone :(
Just as I thought! We're all a bit down in the dumps now that Baby Bro has left. He said he'd be back on the Island again before his university courses resume. I really do miss that kid! Now that Hubby and I are expecting a baby in the winter, the more I miss my friends and family in the city. I miss Baby Bro the most.
Mom and I packed a box of groceries for Baby Bro to take back with him, as well as a cooler with cold drinks for his 10 hour drive back to K-town. Just like any Big Sis would do, I woke up at 6AM to bake him two and a half dozen cookies...just because he likes them. Some were to snack on for the ride home and some (I hoped!) were to share with his girlfriend. I love that girl!Want my chocolate chip cookie recipe? You can find it here. I made a dozen and a half chocolate chip cookies and a dozen chocolate chip-cranberry cookies.
Hubby was sad that he didn't get to see Baby Bro off, because he has been doing a lot of thislately! He's been baling, and baling, and doing more baling. No rest for the weary, I guess!I have just discovered something that I can eat that doesn't make me nauseous! The nausea is starting to let up a bit. Hopefully now that we're nearing the end of the first trimester, I won't be so sick anymore!
Anyway, this magical food that doesn't make me sick? Snowpeas! Fresh from the garden and straight to the table! Well, after being washed first! I don't use any chemicals on my produce, but I do have a dog that likes to tinkle on my asparagus. It's hard to say whether he leaves the rest of the veggies alone, so we just won't chance that!

About the Blog Author
City girl moves to the country, falls in love, and marries a farmer. She tries to incorporate her city ways with her new country lifestyle and blogs to keep in touch with friends, family & students who live far, far away :) Can this city girl go country? Watch as she learns all sorts of exciting things about life on the farm and in a small rural community. *UPDATE* We are now parents! Our baby girl was born on Nov. 11, 2008 (at 28 weeks gestation- 12 weeks premature, but she's quite the trooper)!!!

I'm sorry...can I still have a cookie though?
I got my prize from you! Yeah. I can't say I like that soap looking at me in the shower though...kinda creepy...
i know it must be so sad to see pj go. hopefully you'll see him again soon. any chance of you going down to visit him? that way you can come visit us too! and bring some of those cookies!
VE:
Yay! You finally got the prize from that contest wayyyy back in May! LOL! I thought the soap was kinda neat (and freaky)! I sent one to Uncivil a while ago too. He said it smelled like strawberry goodness...but was a bit freaked out by having an eyeball watching him in the shower.
Once you're done with the soap, the eyeball is actually one of those "pop up" toys. If you have kids, nephews, nieces...or if you know any kids, it provides hours of fun! No joke! My students last year had a blast making the eyeball pop up and they kept trying to catch it mid-air.
Did I also send you some candy from my friend's company? I can't remember if I did or not!
The word verification for this comment is: fndlme. Too funny.
Ohhhh, alright! I'll bake you some cookies...but I DID post the recipe! You can make them at home too now!
Hubby says the cookies have a poor shelf life (they don't last too long because he eats them right away)! This would be why I don't bake them often! Only when Baby Bro is here...and occasionally for my students. The students who stay with us like to put vanilla ice cream between the cookies and make an "ice cream sandwich".
your choco chip cookies look delish! but baking isn't my friend =(
mmm cookies :D And snow peas. That is a tasty treat!
Is that a pun about Chance? You like the milk chocolate chips I see. If I hadn't been very, very bad lately, I'd make them.
Louann:
:) I LOVE baking for friends and family, but I rarely eat my baked goods. It's not that I don't like my baking, but I just don't like eating things that sinful! LOL! I do love the being able to create things part! I also love seeing my friends and family enjoying my creations!
AM:
I love snow peas! Which reminds me, I have to go out and pick some more. I've got LOTS ready to be picked right now.
I did have two cookies. *sigh* I probably shouldn't have, but I did. I don't normally like sweets, but couldn't resist having a taste of these.
Jeanna:
Wow! Good eye, my friend! How did you know they were milk chocolate chips? They could have been dark chocolate!! They were indeed milk chocolate chips though!
