Just when I thought things couldn't get any worse...

I'm not one to complain a lot, but this is ridiculous. Remember how sick I've been for the past week? Just when I thought I was getting better, things suddenly got worse!!!

I ended up in the emergency room at the hospital today (thanks, Mom for dragging me even though I didn't think I needed to go). You see, I sort of knocked myself out from one of those relentless coughing fits. It was non-stop coughing and I couldn't breathe. Oh, it gets even better than this. Not only was I coughing up a lung and unable to breathe, but I had a Fisherman's Friend in my mouth and started choking!!!

Yeah. Right after that I ended up knocking myself out and giving myself a beautiful little bump on the back of my head. Nice. Try telling the attending doctor that you knocked your head on the floor and ended up with a bump on your head because you started choking on a Fisherman's Friend!!! Ummm...

Not only do I have a bump on the back of my head, but now I also have the most horrific red eye ever!!! It scares me to even look in the mirror because my eye reminds me of something you'd see in a horror movie! It looks almost demonic! Scary! The even better news is that the doctor said it would take weeks for the red eye to go away. WEEKS?!?!?!?! I seriously considered making myself an eye patch (you know, the kind that pirates wear) because I'm much too vain to interact with people with this freaky red eye!!! It's not like it's pink eye or anything. This is serious stuff! I basically broke blood vessels IN my eye from coughing so hard.

A subconjunctival haemorrhage occurs when a small blood vessel under the conjunctiva breaks and bleeds. The blood is trapped under the clear conjunctiva – like a bruise. This condition is painless and, although it can look frightening, is harmless.
Causes of a subconjunctival haemorrhage include coughing or sneezing, although many occur spontaneously. The haemorrhage does not require treatment and usually absorbs of its own accord.

The good news? Hubby's been washing the dishes and he did the groceries for me. My grandma is on the Island visiting for a month and she and my mom have been taking care of me. Dad's been cooking supper for Hubby and me. Yeah, I'm spoiled. As soon as I get better, I'll reciprocate though :)

Aaaaargh. I just want to get better already. I hate being sick!
Please, please make this red eye go away!!! Oh, I'm not even going to post a photo of it because it is just too scary looking!

Oh, okay. This is what my eye looks like:Pretty gross, isn't it? This isn't a photo of my eye. I borrowed this photo from Google Images. Hubby looked at me this morning and said, "It doesn't look that bad", but the look on his face told a different story! ;) He loves me...funky eye and all!

Christine!!! You poor thing!!!! I am so sorry you are not well, and feeling so badly, and I am very glad your mom did get you to the hospital!!

I was away last week, and of course, while I was gone, my kids all got sick with this same type of flu that you have, courtesy of my dh. He was coughing like crazy, and I have heard this rumour about slathering Vicks Vapo rub all over your feet, putting a pair of socks on, and that helps stop the coughing. Well, it worked really well for us!

Dh has asthma as well as developing bronchitis, and we did this at night, and his cough was gone. He coughed like crazy during the day when he refused to go out smelling like Vicks though...

It is the only thing that helped our 5 year old, it really settled him down, and nothing usually works for him.

Get well really soon!!! I'll be in touch soon!
Love,
Ellie

Thank you :) Ooooh...That's one of the reasons I'm scared to get contacts. I'm afraid of anything going near my eyes!
Hugs for Conne and CJ! XO

Uncivil:
Thanks, Jimbo. You know I luv ya! Yeah, I'm worried about hubby too. I really hope he doesn't get whatever it is I have. We can't have both of us sick!

t:
Thanks, T! It really IS scary. I can't even look at myself in the mirror without scaring myself :(

Thank you, my lovely! You always seem to have the best timing when it comes to posting something that I need to hear :)
I'm trying the Vicks on the feet thing right now! I'll let you know if it works. I haven't coughed in the past fifteen minutes, so it may just be working! Funny!

Hot Mommy:
Oh, I know. It is horrible! Like I said, I can't even look in the mirror without scaring myself! Waahhhh!

Deb:
Tee hee! I should, shouldn't I? LOL! XO

Jeepers! That eye thing happened to me once so I know how you feel. I hope you're on the mend and take all the babying you can get! XOXO

Maybe you got like a whole lot of year's ailments at once and now you can get healthy again.

OMG C, that's crazy!!! Okay, Ian thought I was bad with my coughing, choking, but I've never knocked myself out and given myself a red eye (despite almost suffocating on NOTHING during my coughing...)

Do you think you need puffer? I ended up having to be on one... I had my stupid cough for almost 4 months; couple times I woke up gasping for air in the middle of the night. Not fun.

You take good care of yourself, and have that husband of your protect you from yourself, OK?

(glad that isn't your eye ... yuck! I think a patch would be sexy ;))

Ms.Mamma:
Thanks :) I hope I get better soon too! Did you get your funky eye thing the same way I did? I still can't believe this happened to me. This has never happened to me before! I knew something wasn't quite right when I was coughing so hard that I was seeing white sparks! Scary!

Jan:
I do hope you're right! I'd rather get it all over with now and not get sick for the rest of the year!

Ugh is right! That was my expression when I saw my eye!!! Thank you...I hope it gets better soon too! Hubby and one of my girlfriends were saying at supper tonight that it would be neat if I took a photo of my eye. I was thinking "Uhhhh...NO!"

They seem to think that my eye is really fascinating. They went on to discuss all the different components of the human eye. I'd blame their gross fascination with eye balls on them being farm kids. She's a nurse, so she loves this gross stuff even more!

You know me and what a wuss I am!

Karen:
Yeah, this one pretty much takes the cake. At least you can now tell Ian that there's someone out there who is worse than you! There's someone who actually knocked herself on the old noggin' while choking on a Fisherman's Friend! LOL! So sad.

Funny you mentioned the puffer! The doc told me that I might have to use one. I have one, but haven't had to use it.

That photo isn't of my eye, but mine looks very much like that one. Pretty freaky.

Yeah, an eye patch would look sexy...though some people can pull it off. I don't think I'm one of those people! LOL! ;)

I almost had to stop reading your post because that eye kept staring at me. I hope you feel better really soon and that your eye clears up even faster.

A virus followed me home too and I've had some coughing fits which have ripped up the inside of my throat. I've been sounding like a really hot and sexy lady let me tell you. I'm not telling you think so you feel like you have company but more to thank you. I'm totally not going to put off the coughing drugs now. EEEK!

Wow! Now that's what I call a streak of bad luck or "when it rains it doesn't pour - it dumps buckets and more buckets!" Either way, so sorry you've been under the weather and had this "double incident." My eye got like that only one time. (To give you an idea of how hard you were coughing - when my eye got like that, it was when I was in labor!)

I think if I'm ever offered a Fisherman's Friend, I'll have to decline!

Wishing you a speedy come-back. And no more buckets of rain!

Sandy:
Thank you :) You're so sweet! I woke up this morning and ran straight to the mirror to see if the eye was better. Nope. Drat! The doctor did say it would clear in a few weeks. I guess it was wishful thinking on my part!

Cherry:
LOL! I know! I was almost tempted to remove the photo because it scares me every time I look at it! Ick!

Thanks for the e-mail, btw! Your hubby sent me an e-mail with tips for growing blueberries. Thanks! You two are the best!! XOXO

That's for sure! The other day, I asked Hubby a silly question. I was worried about my eye and said, "If my eye stays like this forever, will you still love me?" LOL! I was totally serious though. It scares me. I don't want my eye to look like this forever! Of course, he said yes.

Wow! It happened to you when you were in labor??? Oh my goodness!
