Today is a Sad, Sad Day
I heard the news this morning and fell to my knees and cried. I gave my Little One an extra big hug and held her for a very long time.
Lisa (a friend of mine from when I lived in Toronto, but now lives in Texas) and her husband just lost their son this morning to a terrible disease called MLD. I had never heard of Metachromatic Leukodystrophy before and I have been following Ryan's journey since he was diagnosed.
"Ryan was diagnosed with MLD at the age of 33 months.Metachromatic Leukodystrophy is a progressive genetic metabolic disorder that affects the neurological system. There is no known cure and his condition is too progressed for him to even be considered for a Bone Marrow Transplant."
He received his Angel Wings early this morning.
Thoughts and prayers are with Lisa, Jerry and their family.
Rest in peace, sweet Ryan.

City girl moves to the country, falls in love, and marries a farmer. She tries to incorporate her city ways with her new country lifestyle and blogs to keep in touch with friends, family & students who live far, far away :) Can this city girl go country? Watch as she learns all sorts of exciting things about life on the farm and in a small rural community. *UPDATE* We are now parents! Our baby girl was born on Nov. 11, 2008 (at 28 weeks gestation- 12 weeks premature, but she's quite the trooper)!!!

How awful.. I am in tears reading this I don't think anything could be worse that the loss of a child.. my heart goes out to them.
i am so sorry for your friend's loss. i agree with maria that i cannot think of anything worse or more difficult than losing a child. my heart also goes out to your friend and her family.
took me by surprise chris ; as your posts are normally funny and upbeat..
Maria:
I know :( My heart goes out to them too.

Makes one remember to never take a single moment for granted, doesn't it?
I'm so sorry to hear of your friend's untimely loss.
I'm so sorry, Christine. My prayers are with Lisa and her family. He looks like he was a little treasure.

God Bless the family and let them find peace someday. There are no more words.
Canine:
It's just so hard to imagine losing a child so young...or losing a child period. Thinking of my friend and her family and hoping for all the strength and support possible for them.
E:
Have you ever heard of MLD before? I remember mentioning it to you and Super Amazing Mommy when you were at my place on Saturday.
Jackie:
So true. There are no more words possible to say at a time like this. At least he is in a good place and without pain or suffering now. For those who have to live without him, I cannot even imagine what they are going through.
Hadn't heard of it before you mentioned it. It must be a very rare thing.
That is terrible news. I'm so sorry.
this is heartbreaking. Please, please tell his parents my thoughts and prayers are with them
E:
I hadn't heard of it before my friend told me about it. It must be pretty rare. So sad :(
J:
I never know what to say at moments like this. When my aunt (whom I was very close to) passed away right before our eyes, I was pretty numb. At the visitation and then at the funeral, when people tried to offer their condolences, I don't even think any of it registered.
Though the loss and the pain of losing someone dear is something that is not easy to deal with, I imagine it is even more so when it is your own child...or parent.
bernthis:
Thank you for visiting my little 'ol blog. I will make sure to tell Lisa and family that there are many people out there thinking of them.
