He loves me!

Feeling slightly down, due to empty nest syndrome (I've been really missing my students and they only left three days ago), Hubby has been such a superstar at cheering me up. The students will begin their new school semester back in their country, but will hopefully return again within the next year. I totally got lucky and had amazing students. They were dream students and so very polite and respectful! I was blown away!

Since I've been sad that they are no longer with us, Hubby took it upon himself to do some really, truly sweet things for me. We went for a walk in the bush to open up a gate for the cattle and I enjoyed some quiet time amongst the trees with Hubby and our pup, Chance. It was a nice excursion.

On the weekend, we had some friends over from Ottawa and I needed to get the house cleaned after our whirlwind suitcase packing session with the students the night before. As I was cleaning the kitchen, dear Hubby shocked me by...cleaning the bathroom!!!

OMG! I have never ever seen the bathroom so sparkling clean! The chrome in the bathtub and sink was so shiny! Oh, and today, as I was going to prepare supper, Hubby came in early from work and made us some of these...

I just love, love, love open-faced toasted tomato sandwiches. Just toasted cracked wheat bread with a bit of mayo and three slices of tomato, sprinkled with salt and black pepper. Mmmmm...mmmm...good! I know it's really simple, but the way we've been eating with all our friends and family visiting and us still recovering from all the eating we did in Montreal, this simple supper is a welcomed treat!

One more super sweet thing Hubby did for me was that he bought me a new pair of earrings almost exactly the same as my favourite pair that I lost a few days ago! I was bummed that I couldn't find my earrings with my birthstone, and Hubby got me another pair! As soon as I tried on the new pair, I found my old pair! Ah well!

I just wanted to say (and I hope you are reading, Hubby! I know you've been too busy to read my blog lately) thank you, and I love you.

Yum, that sounds delish. Also, those tomatoes are beautiful! Did you grow them?

Lucky girl! Hey can you send J over to talk to my husband? lol

Annie:
Unfortunately, my tomatoes didn't fare too well this year. My Roma tomatoes and Beefsteak tomatoes just didn't do well. I have HEAPS of cherry and grape tomatoes though! The ones used for our sandwiches were actually brought up from our friends who are visiting from down south! LOL!

PS. Love the pretty dress you wore for your date night! Very hot! You're smokin'!!

Hotmommy:

No way!!! Hubby and I used to have toasted tomato sammiches together all the time before we had kids! Now we don't get tomatoes a lot because when we do, we forget about them and they usually rot in the fridge - kids are not huge tomato eaters and unfortunately most of my grocery buying these days caters to them.
You're one lucky girl!

Gotta love those hubbies!

Mine particularly loves the tomato sandwich as well.

And can I add that I thought you were kidding when you wrote that you had cattle. Seriously.. cattle?

I'm so moving next door!

That's so true about tomatoes! You get them and then they go bad because you forget about them. I have started to stew them, make salsa, tomato sauce, tomato juice, etc. with them. That way I don't run into the problem of wasted tomatoes :( Bananas...That's another story!

I get bananas and then they get eaten all up because everyone craves them, so I get more. As soon as I get more, no one even touches them and they start to go brown. I end up putting them in the freezer and use them for smoothies and banana bread. Any other ideas for what to do with bananas that are going brown?

Cherry:
Hello, you awesome chiquita! I was soooooooooo not kidding when I said we have cattle! Hubby's got over 100 head of cattle! My friends still can't believe I really left the city for the farm! LOL!

So...when are you guys coming for a visit? LOL! ;)

Oh that sandwich is making my mouth water...

And when I really need a clean bathroom, I ask Hubby to do it. He is so much stronger than I am that he can clean it until it sparkles.

Beachmama:
Ohhhhhhhh! You are soooooo right! THAT'S what it is! They're way stronger so that's why they can clean until it sparkles! I should tell Hubby that next time! Seriously...I was AMAZED at how clean and sparkly everything was! When I clean the washroom, it smells good and is clean, but I dunno what Hubby did! It was almost blinding how clean it was!!!
