Still a Rookie Mommy
Just when I thought I had this parenting thing all figured out (HA! As if!), it occurred to me that I'm not sure it's possible for one to ever have things all figured out.
I'm the type of person who always needs to be on the go. I need to get things done and do everything. Now that I have a little one, she just gets dragged along with me. To be honest, I don't even remember when we last had a day in of just chilling out at home and not doing anything.
On Saturday, we had a 3 year old's birthday party, a Canada Day parade, a bridal shower and a fish fry to attend. Of course, in true C fashion, I had to do it all.
By mid-afternoon, Little One wasn't looking too well. Her eyes looked really dopey and her cheeks were red. We stayed and enjoyed the festivities with friends and family. By Sunday morning, both Little One and I were terribly sick.
The moral of this story? Don't try to do it all. Learn how to pick and choose the most important things to do. Don't drag your poor 19 month old to every single event you are invited to. Babies and mommies need rest too.

City girl moves to the country, falls in love, and marries a farmer. She tries to incorporate her city ways with her new country lifestyle and blogs to keep in touch with friends, family & students who live far, far away :) Can this city girl go country? Watch as she learns all sorts of exciting things about life on the farm and in a small rural community. *UPDATE* We are now parents! Our baby girl was born on Nov. 11, 2008 (at 28 weeks gestation- 12 weeks premature, but she's quite the trooper)!!!

balance... it's a goal of mine and I've been a Mommy for almost 12 years!
Peace!
Amen, hon. Learn to pick your events. But yeah, I like to do it all, too. :)
I'll let you know if I ever graduate from Rookie.

Thank you for sharing that :) Hey, are you around this weekend? Hope you guys stay cool in this heatwave! XO
Barb:
HI!!! I have been thinking of you! :) Hmmm...Balance. That's something I long for. Please tell me that one of these days we'll figure it all out :)
J:
I wonder *when* we will graduate from rookie? ;) How are you guys? Hope all is well where you are! Has Maya seen "Eclipse"?
XO
I totally learn lessons from all of my mommy friends. Over the last 15 years I've stored these kinds of stories in the back of my mind. This is a very important lesson! One I could use already.
Cherry:
:) Big smiles. You are such an awesome mama! Your little peanut is ADORABLE!!! I need to learn how to follow my own advice sometimes! LOL! *sigh* The whole "mommy needs rest too" thing is easier said than done!!
