Short, Shorter, Shortest!
I am embarrassed to say that I have somewhat neglected myself. I get so wrapped up in taking care of my toddler, my husband, work, students, the home, and everything else...and as a result, I am always placed last.
I don't do this to be a martyr or anything. I just get so busy with everything and everyone else, that I often forget about myself.
I often marvel at how some of my mommy friends have things so "together". They also work, take care of their kids, and still look like they've stepped out of a magazine spread! Me? No such luck. I don't know why. When I lived in the city, I never left the house without make up on. I never just threw on whatever was on hand.
Now, I'm lucky if I even just put on some lip gloss or have socks that match! Heck...I'm lucky if I even find socks in this crazy house!
I made the decision yesterday, that this needs to change. My friend and I packed up our kids, ran some errands all over the Island, had lunch, had a caramel frappe at the Loco Beanz in Little Current and another one at the Loco Beanz in Manitowaning (yes, it's an addiction)...and I got my hair cut.
I needed a new look. I wanted something fresh. Something not like my standard, boring, one length 'do.
This is what I ended up getting done...
Lots of layers, some length in the front, and very, very short in the back. It's something I'm not normally daring enough to do, but I just LOVE it! Gotta love the way you feel after leaving the hairdressers!
It may sound like a trivial thing, but sometimes a good new 'do, a new outfit, and some make up really do boost one's mood and can give some new zip in one's life. Amazing how something so little (like a new hair style) can change one's perspective and give new energy.

City girl moves to the country, falls in love, and marries a farmer. She tries to incorporate her city ways with her new country lifestyle and blogs to keep in touch with friends, family & students who live far, far away :) Can this city girl go country? Watch as she learns all sorts of exciting things about life on the farm and in a small rural community. *UPDATE* We are now parents! Our baby girl was born on Nov. 11, 2008 (at 28 weeks gestation- 12 weeks premature, but she's quite the trooper)!!!

Dina:

OMG!!!! C you look fresh, styling, young, even a little funcky... bref YOU LOOK OUTSTANDING! I love the new do! What did the family have to say about it?!?! Good for you on taking a little time on yourself, now try to do something like that once a month to start!
Again, you look like a million bucks!!
Dragonfly:
Awww! Thank you so much!!! :) You are absolutely right. I think I'll have to start making a "date" with myself once a month :) Oh, and not feel guilty for doing it either! :) XOXO
Perfect for you!
jMo:
Thanks, Jeeeeeeeeeee! :) I was always against short haircuts for myself, because I didn't think I'd look good with short hair. In the past few years, I've been trying to keep my hair long, but realize that maybe I need a change.
hi c - woo hoo - you look so hawt!!!! very sexxay to the max! total MILF!
i'm with dina - post a photo of the back view!!!
as moms, we do tend to cater to everyone else but ourselves (cooking, cleaning, driving, grocery shopping, etc), but sometimes you just have to put yourself first.
C, you look GORGEOUS!!!! Good for you - pick me ups are SOOO important after you become a Mom. Don't worry, you'll get your style back - it never goes away, just lies dormant while you're knee deep in diapers ;).
Good to see your beautiful family picture too - love it!
This looks great on you, Christine! See, that's two great you-days you've had this month -- haircut & fun, plus Eat, Pray, Love Day. Keep it up.
Sweet 'n Sassy!! Or shall I say "Sasssayyyy"! Looks great C!
YOWSER, HOT MAMA IN TOWN!!!!!
Love the look....
As I was scrolling through your post I kept thinking.. where's the pic of the back! :-)
It's so important to do these things for ourselves huh? Remind of that k?
Oh I love the new hair do, it looks really good on you. Very fresh and uplifting! Enjoy it
You are stunning! Congrats on your new look. Enjoy it and remember to be good to yourself!
Peace!
