Why Onesies and Diaper Shirts are Necessary

Scene: Our living room. Hubby was about to give Little One a bath when I had to step out for a meeting after supper.

Me: Ummm...I don't want to sound bossy or tell you what to do, but diaper shirts/onesies are necessary. It is imperative that you put one on Little One. You can't just let her run around without one on.

Hubby: Um hmm. (obviously not listening)

Me: Okay. Fine.

A few hours later, I returned from my library board meeting and Little One was in nothing but a diaper.

Me: Oh. She's just wearing a diaper? You really should put a onesie on her. You know she'll take her diaper off, right?

Hubby: (no answer)

Out of the corner of my eye, I see Little One climb onto the couch, remove her diaper, and proceed to PEE on the couch!

Me: (trying not to sound like a nag) I told you so.

Not to sound mean, but I hope HE cleaned it up. Kids that can remove diapers NEED A ONSIE.

OMG. I never thought of this situation. See why it's kinda awesome I had kids after my friends? :)

Ha! Oh, yes! He *did* clean up the mess. Well, after my big dramatic "I always have to do everything. You guys always make me do more work than I need to. I'm forever cleaning up after everyone" routine.

Granted, I probably should just suck it up and do my job as a mom and wife without complaining, but heck...I was working that day too, I had a meeting after supper, and I was just plain too exhausted to deal with something that could have been avoided if someone had listened to me.

Wow. Do I sound like a beeeeeotch? LOL!

P.S. I love my hubby. He works hard. He tries hard and he *is* good with Little One. Just clueless about some things that seem so obvious to me.

The way I see it, Little One is kind of like our guinea pig. Hope no one takes that the wrong way. I just mean that it's trial and error with her. Maybe by the time we have our second baby, we may have a idea of how things are supposed to work. Or not. LOL!

I'll keep posting Mommy Mishaps for you so you can see what to avoid or what *not* to do! LOL!!!! ;) I'm kidding.

LOL. I've had the same conversation with my hubby but luckily he listened to me so we had a better outcome.

i would have been so PO'd if my husband allowed tc to have done that. tc never took off her diaper, come to think of it.

but i agree with J - your husband should've cleaned it up. if crap happens during husbands shift, it's his responsibility, eh!

Oh! You are so lucky that potential disaster was averted! Thank goodness for Hubby listening! LOL! :)

*sigh* I'm afraid I may never come home to a clean house. I contemplated never ever going to meetings, rehearsals, performances, or anything else, for fear that I will have to return only to clean up a huge mess. Then I realized that maybe I need to take a chill pill and learn to not let the mess get to me. Who am I kidding? I CANNOT STAND MESS and a toddler and farmer husband aren't the best for keeping the place tidy. It's like shoveling snow in a snow storm.

Can I tell you how JEALOUS I was when you guys were staying at our house? I was jealous because I saw how great Bert is at helping you out! He washed our dishes and did laundry! My jaw dropped! That was so awesome! Bert is such a cool guy!

P.S. We miss you guys! XOXOXO

hi c - thanks for your kind comments about bert. i'm so lucky too. when i was ill 2 years ago, he did everything for me. i don't know how i would have gotten by without him.

he is finally home after being gone 5 days from a training for work. i shouldn't complain - 5 days isn't that long. i have a friend who's husband is military and he's gone for 6months plus, so 5 days is not a lot, right? but during those 5 days, i was stressed out becuase i had to do double duty with tc. i had to bring her to a work function becuase i didn't have anyone to watch her. well, she's 10 so it's not that bad, but still , poor kid had to sit through 1 1/2 hours of boring lectures by college admissions officers.

We were lucky that neither kid was inclined to take off their diaper on their own. Whew!
Sometimes that's the only way that lessons can be learned though - not so pleasant but I bet he hasn't forgotten the onesie since?
- and BTW, most hubbies are clueless from time to time ;)

Hello, lovely! I've missed you! BTW, I'm sure my husband appreciates your understanding :) Poor guy. He looked so stunned when Little One peed on the couch!

I wonder...Do you think she's almost ready for potty training?

hahaha...i am still looking for onesies for my LO...but she is so tall they hardly make them for kids here size...but i imagine her doing the exact same thing- taking the diaper off and peeing wherever (or worse) as it stands the kids takes off her pj's in her crib and then cries because she is cold!
