Happy 10th Birthday to my Canine Baby!

Long before Little One was even a glimmer in our eyes, Chance was our baby.  In fact, when I opened up my Twitter account a few years ago, the name I chose for my Twitter handle was @chancesmommy.  It wasn't until recently that people realized that I do not have a son named Chance and that Chance is actually our dog!

He loved Little One right from the start.
He is best buddies with our cat, Spike.
He loves giving kisses.
He entertains our little farm kid and is really patient with her. She calls him her "protector".

Well, I guess he's a son to me. He was our first baby. He's part of our family and today he turns 10 years old!  He still acts like a pup! Even after almost dying and recovering from a crushed pelvis from being run over by the school bus, he still continues to chase vehicles up our laneway.

{HAPPY BIRTHDAY, CHANCE!}

The lovely Kathryn from Dogpaddling Adventures shared her Peanut Butter Carrot Cake recipe that I think Little One and I will make for Chance today.

Ingredients
  •     1 cup flour
  •     1 tsp baking soda
  •     1/4 cup peanut butter
  •     1/4 cup vegetable oil
  •     1 tsp vanilla
  •     1/3 cup honey
  •     1 egg
  •     1 cup shredded carrots
Directions:
Mix flour and baking soda. Add remaining ingredients. Pour into greased 8" round cake pan and bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Let cool.

She also gives tips for icing if you want to decorate. Thanks, Kathryn! I'm sure Chance will enjoy his doggy birthday cake!  While you're checking out the recipe. make sure to see all the fun and amazing activities and excursions you can go on with your beloved canine baby! Happy Birthday Chance!

He is so beautiful!

Our Willow was our first baby as well. She turned 11 in September. I have wanted to get a friend for her for a long time but DH won't let me. I may just have to though. hehe!

Awww! I love the name Willow! Wow! 11, huh? I can't believe Chance is 10! Time flies! I have also thought of getting him a friend. Hubs hasn't given me the green light though. LOL!

Ha! You are so right! His hair is INSANE! It's only neat when it's shaved down! That dog gets EVERYTHING stuck in his coat! *sigh*

Happy birthday Chance!

I'm very much a dog person and if we ever finally get to move out of the city bringing a dog home will be at the top of my list.
