@TELUS and the World Wildlife Fund

One of the reasons I love TELUS is that not only are they fabulous when it comes to providing excellent customer service. I also love that they are committed to providing great products and services to their customers. I've been a loyal TELUS customer since I returned from my two years working overseas in 2000! Obviously, there's a reason I'm still with TELUS.

What impresses me is TELUS' avant-garde approach to social media and the campaigns they choose. They support causes that really make an impact on people like you and me (Pink Out Loud, We Day, etc). The latest one I'm excited to hear about is TELUS and the World Wildlife Fund.

From the TELUS website:

"DedicatedT to safeguarding animals and our environment.
To us, every animal is like family, and we believe helping to protect our wildlife and their habitat today is key to ensuring healthy, sustainable communities in the future. That’s why our partnership with the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is so important to TELUS, our team members and retirees.
Since 2000, we have contributed more than $5 million to animal-related causes, including over $200,000 to support WWF initiatives. Through our partnership with WWF we are committed to facing conservation challenges head on, providing opportunities for our team members and our customers to make a difference.

About the World Wildlife Fund (WWF)

The WWF is the largest international conservation organization in Canada, with the active support of more than 150,000 Canadians. The WWF is creating solutions to the most serious conservation challenges facing our planet, helping people and nature to thrive.

Committed to animal welfare

Across Canada, habitat loss, pollution, invasive species, climate change, and unsustainable harvesting have put more than 500 species at risk of extinction.
In an effort to preserve wildlife at home and abroad, the WWF aims to:
  • tackle the global trade in endangered animals
  • reduce the effects of climate change on species, such as polar bears
Stay tuned in 2013 as we embrace new opportunities with WWF to help keep Canadian critters safe for years to come."

The giant panda will be the star of TELUS’ new mobility and multicultural campaigns, which are timed perfectly with the nationwide excitement building around the arrival of the giant pandas at the Toronto Zoo this spring.

This is TELUS' very first computer generated imagery campaign!

"* For the first time, our advertising will feature computer generated imagery (CGI) critters instead of live animals. To create our CGI pandas, we used existing images and videos of pandas to build a digital model that was refined, groomed and textured until its skin, hair, facial expressions and movement were as lifelike as possible. The entire process took nearly six months.
* With the use of CGI critters, we are now able to feature popular animals that are rare or endangered. It also allows us to take an expanded visual approach, as we are no longer limited by what an animal will do while the camera is rolling.
* TELUS has a strict policy against filming endangered species - we would never consider filming live pandas to create our ads. We haven’t made the decision to eliminate filming live animals completely, but having the option to use CGI critters opens up a world of opportunity for the TELUS brand. Also When filming live animals, TELUS goes to great lengths to ensure animals featured in our ads are treated with great care. We apply a comprehensive code of conduct anytime we film animals, which we developed in partnership with animal-advocacy organizations like PETA."

I love that TELUS provides opportunities for their team members and customers to make a difference.

To me, that is impressive!

Little One was loves her TELUS critters. When she received her newest addition, the giant panda, she was over the moon. It came with an adoption kit and Little One, at four years of age has been doing research (with Mom's help) on learning more about endangered species.

Little One says "Thank you" to TELUS for her cheetah, owl, and newest critter addition, the panda!

Check out the video that features the CGI panda!

I had no idea that Telus was involved in so many good causes! Way to go for a company to take an active role in making this world a better place.
