The Life of a Single Child

Little One is a happy kid.

She's our pride and joy. She's everything to us. There has never been a day that goes by when I forget about the miracle that she is. With my high risk pregnancy to her preterm birth, I never take for granted that she is here and that she is a fighter. Thankfully she is a feisty little one...Otherwise she probably wouldn't be here today. Feisty is good...for the most part.

Friends and family always ask us when we're having Baby #2. We constantly get the "Little One NEEDS a sibling", "You should start on a brother or sister for Little One SOON!", "It's good to have your kids close in age" or "You guys aren't getting any younger".

I suppose everyone is right. I mean, this is what happens when your child's only siblings are of the canine and feline variety...
She loves her doggy, Chance.
She loves all the barn kitties too.
She thinks she's one of them.
Sharing her won tons with Spike.
Oh, dear. She even eats like her canine and feline siblings!

Yep. Perhaps it's time to start thinking about having a human sibling for her.

**Photos taken by Hubby's aunt when the family was visiting us on the Island the other weekend. Had I seen my daughter eating off of the floor, I would have stopped her immediately. YUCK!**

And an animal lover of course! I thought that first photo was with a racoon. I'm thinking "That Chrissy has gone all Ellie Mae on me, I better keep an eye on her."

hi c - yummmm, food off the floor!!!

ha ha! who knows what else happens when you're not there or not watchign?! :)

i hate it when other people ask us to have #2 or that tc needs a sibling. we don't want one, don't plan to have one and it's no one's fkg business. how presumtuous to think that everyone will want more than one kid. plus, i say, the vadge is not meant to be a clown bus (ex: duggar lady).

LOL! OMG! That is too funny!!! Yes, I forgot to tell you that I've acquired a raccoon as a pet. ;p We let our toddler play with wild animals. ;)

I know what you mean.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! The clown bus comment just about killed me! I read that out loud to The Student and we were both laughing our heads off! LOL! Thanks for that!

Oh good luck, with the trying, and with an easier pregnancy. :) You and hubby make beautiful babies, so another is clearly a good idea.

My friend and I were talking yesterday about how we are too old to even WANT another at this point. Even to adopt, the energy of a baby is hard to manage sometimes. Then again, I'm older than you by quite a few years (44). When I was your age, a second baby would have been welcome.

J:
I'll be turning 35 in December and am honestly wondering if that's getting too old to have #2.

Dina:
LOL! Actually, she lost her earrings (her birthstone ones) and I didn't want her holes to close so I put my hoops in. LOL! A little too big! So funny!

sheesh C, 35 is NOT too old for having babies. I have a friend who will be 40 soon and is expecting #3 soon!
and we also have friends who had #2 at 43. They have a much older son who was 19 when his baby sister was born!!!

I am following you back from Hop Along Friday and I am so happy to see your little miracle :) It warms my heart to see her now.

I had baby #1 at 33 and #2 at 34. You are good and young :)
