Life in the NICU
Adventures of a Preemie Drama Queen
Our daughter, Little One was born on November 11, 2008 at 28 weeks gestation. She was three months premature.
At almost 24 weeks into my pregnancy, it was discovered that my cervix was already dilated to the point where Little One could be born at any moment. I was sent by air ambulance to Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, where Little One made her dramatic entrance into the world. With almost five weeks of strict bed rest, she still arrived early.
She weighed in at 980 g (nearly 2 lbs, 3 oz) and spent the first two months of her life in the NICU. Every day was a roller coaster ride of emotions, never knowing what would happen from one day to the next.
Little One is now a very happy, healthy, thriving, and busy little girl!
It is my hope that these posts from her early days in the NICU will help other parents of preemies get through those rocky first weeks in the hospital. I hope these tales of Little One's adventures in the NICU will give other parents some reassurance and comfort as they embark on their journey as parents of preemies.

City girl moves to the country, falls in love, and marries a farmer. She tries to incorporate her city ways with her new country lifestyle and blogs to keep in touch with friends, family & students who live far, far away :) Can this city girl go country? Watch as she learns all sorts of exciting things about life on the farm and in a small rural community. *UPDATE* We are now parents! Our baby girl was born on Nov. 11, 2008 (at 28 weeks gestation- 12 weeks premature, but she's quite the trooper)!!!
