Insomnia
For the past few nights (or more like mornings), I've been waking up at 2:30 and then I'd look at the clock and it's 3:30, then 4:30, then 5:30 and 6:30...and then my day begins. I'd really like to be sleeping at 2:30!! I'm in bed by 10:30 or 11 each night.
I don't know why I can't sleep. Nothing's bothering me. My life is great. I've got a wonderful husband, a job that I love and that provides me with all the flexibility I could ever want, a warm and cozy home, a wonderful family, the most amazing friends I could ever dream of having. My life is full. Why can't I sleep??? I don't know what's going on, but I really, really hope I can get a good night's sleep soon. What do you do when you can't fall asleep at night???

Very interesting, C! Try reading a really long and boring novel! That'd put you right to sleep! Have you tried counting sheep? That never works for me but may for you. What about your coffee problem. I know coffee puts you to sleep, so try drinking coffee before bed! Let me know how it goes.
Chammomile tea usually works for me. Celestial teas has a tea called Sleepy time or bed time tea, I can't remember but supposedly its supposed to help you sleep.
Did you draw that? Sugoi, ne! Suberashiiiiiii!
Hallo Miss Moneypenny! How have you been keeping?
I've had that kind of insomnia for years and find that the worst thing to do is lay in bad thinking how you can't get to sleep. I always get up and putter around for an hour or two to get my mind on other things (And do something creative since my mind is often in a slightly liminal state during this period) and then head back to bed once I'm bored or done doing whatever it is I've been doing. I usually fall asleep quite fast even though at the time I don't think that I'm going to.
T: I've tried reading huge novels. Maybe I should read "The Picture of Dorian Gray", since I never seem to be able to get through the entire thing.
I should drink coffee before bed, since it does knock me out. LOL!
AHMM: I've tried chammomile tea. It does nothing for me :( Waaaaaaaaah! LOL!
Pete: Yes, I did draw the picture :) I draw and write when I can't sleep. I do most of my painting and sketching in the wee hours of the morn! When I was in Japan, I filled three sketch books with pastel work and did a bunch of water colors and oil and acrylic work.
Miss Moneypenny's been super busy lately. I'm sure she'll pop in to say hullooooo again soon! Now stop stalking the poor woman, Pete! LOL! ;p
Stephen: Yes, you are indeed right. I will try getting out of bed and doing something rather than stirring in bed for hours, not being able to sleep AND keeping poor Hubby awake too. No sense in him not being able to sleep because I can't :( Poor guy!
How about a hot toddy? That will put you out cold in a hurry! LOL! OH! I am most definately NOT stalking! I just think she's a sweetheart and she is babe-a-licious! Am I really scaring her that much? LOL!
Oh, insomnia is the worst. I normally get it when I have a zillion things on my mind. I just lie there, with my mind in overdrive and watch the minutes tick by on the clock. So frustrating!
Reading is a great suggestion - it always makes me fall asleep. You need to read something super heavy though that will bore you to pieces ( You didn't like The Picture of Dorian Gray? I loved that novel - and the black and white film from the 40s is really great too, with a very young Angela Lansbury as Sybil. I love anything by Oscar Wilde really. His childrens' stories are so wonderfully tragic, everything just goes so horribly, tragically wrong. The Happy Prince has me in tears everytime! )
My other fallback is a really hot shower, pj's and hot milk and honey. Get me under my down duvet with that combo and that's it for me, I'm done. Sleepytime, here I come.
The other thing too is exercising - I normally feel like I want to keel over and die after I work out, so falling asleep is not a problem for me!
howdy Pete! I'm just grand, thank you for asking! Just bought a house for me and my little fellas, so I'm quite pleased. A little quiet over here at JetBaby World Headquarters today, but there is always a load of paperwork and orders to get through. How are things in your world?
Woah, Pete - SNAP! we both posted at 2:15!
awesome artwork christine! find a station that broadcasts 'coast to coast am'... see what you think
Miss Moneypenny, I too enjoy anything by Oscar Wilde. He was quite an interesting chap from the biographies I've read on him.
You just bought a house? Cheers! That's excellent news. What is it like? An old, Victorian home, I'm guessing?
This is too funny corresponding in the comment section! Have yourself a good night/or day, whatever it may be where you are!
Pete
Miss Moneypenny: I actually LOVE Oscar Wilde, and I did enjoy the old black and white movie of "The Picture of Dorian Gray". Was that Angela Lansbury as Sybil??? I just don't know why I have never been able to read through the whole story though. I've skimmed through, leafed through, but never actually finished it. I must do so one of these days.
I think Oscar Wilde was such a character in his time. I've read so many different essays and biographies on him. I was shocked that he was a fan of "the green fairy" (absynthe) He was a very creative individual.
Ms.Mamma: I used to listen to Coast to Coast when I was in Toronto. I got creeped out one night because Art Bell was talking about the paranormal and ghost sightings. There was this one where these ghost specialists went to this house and they were able to communicate with the ghost of a little boy. I fell asleep while listening to Coast to Coast AM and had nightmares!! It was freakishly scary!!! When awake and alert, I do enjoy listening to it. I think Art Bell is only doing weekends now, but it's been a while since I listened to the show.
Pete: I told you she would be back! LOL!
Thanks, everyone...for your sleeping tips :) I'll try them all and see if any of them work for me!
C
totally off topic but did you hear that Anna Nicole Smith died today? Shocking! I know some people don't care much for celebrities but Anna Nicole always caught my curiosity.
6:51 AM Friday in Tokyo! Can't stop checking out this blog. Addictive? Is Anna the one who married that old guy? Aight, off to work I go. I'm going to try not to check out this blog for the rest of the day. You know I have a crush on Miss Moneypenny, yeah?
LOL! I'm still online. I noticed Pete was back. Does that guy ever sleep? If it's evening here in Canada then it's morning there in Japan, right? Pete! Stop blogging and get some sleep! :-)
k, I'm outta here too!
You Canadian girls are MEAN picking on a poor English bloke like me! I really have to get to work now. I have a train to catch. C U l8tr mean girls! I'm just teasing. I love Canadian girls. Especially Miss Moneypenny!
OMG! I leave my computer for a couple of hours and miss all the conversations about mean Canadian girls (Pete, we're not mean!!) and Anna Nicole's death. What happened anyway? I suppose if I weren't so lazy, I could check it out on MSN News or something.
Anyway, almost supper time. Gotta feed my boys. Yippeeee! Today's Thurday! I'm curious to see what's going to happen on Grey's Anatomy. I know. Sad. :)
I just e-mailed you Chris. I wasn't sure which address to mail you at since you have a dozen of them! I figured you'd check your blog before you went to sleep so you'd def get this msg. My question: Are you guys coming to the T dot this month or what?
Yea, that Anna Nicole story was sad. Sorry for laughing at you when you were expressing your sadness for Anna Nicole Smith. I'm just not very much into the Hollywood types I mean they're normal people after all, just like everyone else so what makes their deaths extrordinary? But I do respect your sentiments. You're too sweet. It is sad that she had such a messed up life and just had a baby and lost her 20 yr old son and died. Anyway. Enjoy Grey's and CSI. Do you also watch Ugly Better? Survivor?
Chris, forget the hot milk and honey - how about turkey and red wine before bed? Tryptophan!! Remember that Seinfeld episode where he wanted to play with his girlfriends' collection of antique toys, so he fed her wine and a huge turkey dinner so she would pass out?!
Pete, you are making me blush, sir :)
LOL! J, you are too funny! I actually do remember that Seinfeld episode! I loved that show!
Good news! I sort of fell asleep easier last night than the rest of the nights this week. I didn't get up at 2:30, 3:30...etc. I got up on time, BUT I had some seriously messed up dreams! One of them was that I went to my singing practice (I actually think it may have been a performance and not a practice though) with no pants AND no panties on! What on earth???? STRANGE! I have nooooooo idea what's up with me this week! LOL!
AHMM: No worries. I know some people don't care much for celebrities. I found that out when I was upset about Steve Irwin's death and a lot of people just didn't care :( Anyway, Anna Nicole...I think it's such a sad story. I'm still not sure what exactly happened, but I just think it was so sad that she left behind a baby girl and that she lost her 20 yr old son not too long ago. She's had a lot of ups and downs and had a lot of negative media coverage...but I realize that's the price one pays for being a celebrity. I also realize, as others have pointed out, that she's just another person on this planet. Someone asked me, "Why should that make her death any different or more special than an every day Joe's?" The thing is, I don't think that her death (or Steve Irwin's death or James Brown's death...) was more special. What kind of thing is that to say? Any death is sad, I think.
Anyway, next topic..... :)
I think it's a sad story. I saw her biography on A&E last year and sort of felt bad for her. Yes, every day people die too but for someone to not care about or say mean things just cos someone's a celebrity is cruel. Like Rosie slamming Anna Nicole not too long before she died. Mean. Rosie is mean.
not only is Rosie mean, but she is nastey too.
I feel bad for the little girl that Anna Nicole left behind and now there is another guy claiming to be her father. She is going to have a mucked up life because of her mother's death. Nobody deserves to grow up without a mother and with many questions about who her dad is...
I agree with you, Dina. I wonder what's going to happen with her custody case and how her life will turn out.
I think it's funny how the post began about insomnia and kind of morphed into an Anna Nicole thing :) Going on tangents can be good...
