So...How Did You Find Me???

...or did I find you???

I was thinking the other day, that with all the information, sites, and blogs on the internet, how on earth do people find each other? Take for example, my blog. My blog is pretty darn boring. I only ever talk about life on the Island, teaching, married life, friends, things I find funny, funny things I find, funny things I remember, crazy things I do, my family, my pets, books, movies, music, art, gardening, and cooking. It's really, really not that interesting at all.

One person told me that he found me by clicking "Next Blog". Another said she found my when she Googled "Farmers Feed Cities". Looking at my BlogLog, I was laughing when I saw that someone found me while Googling "Canadian Inventions" since I posted something on that a while ago.

It's really funny to see how people's paths cross on the net. ROAR! did a write up on how people are connected by six degrees of separation. I kind of agree with the theory. It's so neat to see how people's lives are intertwined. Mama Doggy Love also wrote a blog entry on how people find her blog.

Initially, I set up this blog as a vehicle for me to connect with friends, family, students and fellow teachers since I moved to Manitoulin Island...which is far away from my former life in Toronto and Montreal. Most of the people who read my blog are friends and family, though I have 'met' some wonderful, charming, witty people through blogging.

So, tell did we 'meet'?

I worked with you and we hung out a lot when you lived in Toronto even before you went to Japan. You gave me your blog address, that's how I found you :0)

A friend of mine collects blog sites from around the world that he finds very interesting. He doesn't have a blog site nor does he blog. He just reads people's entries to inspire him because he is a down to earth, low keyed author and he likes to write about real people, nature, places and just about anything that has to do with reality.

Anyway, he shared his collections (of blog sites, that is) with me because I am a writer too and that's how I found you! Isn't internet a blessing? What a wonderful tool to connect and meet so many nice and interesting people, don't you think? :)

T: Yes, I know you had my blog address when I started blogging a year ago. Thank you for being such a good friend. I think we've been friends since 1998, right??

Sentimental: Thank your friend for finding my blog :) I'm really glad you found me via your friend. Yes, the internet is amazing! It connects people who may have not otherwise had the opportunity to encounter each other! (If you want to get in touch outside the blogosphere, you can get in touch at cg underscore lee121875 at hotmail dot com). Thanks for popping by and leaving me comments whenever you visit! I love that!

Thanks for the shout-out, girly!

I do believe I sought you out, though I don't remember exactly how. Possibly a tag search for "dogs"?

Chrissy121875 said...

Dina: LOL! Yes, crazy indeed! It seems like we hit it off immediately when we both worked at WTC...and then we lived together...lotsa ups and downs and interesting experiences, friends & boyfriends that came and went, etc. I am so glad we can keep up to date with each other's lives via e-mail, phone, and blog :) You truly are one of my really good friends. Love ya! xo

Doggy Mama: I'm soooooo glad you found me! LOL! You're great and I love your blog too!

late last year, my good friend 'lotus' posted a blog topic on marriage proposal stories, which was prompted by a conversation she and i had several days before. you posted a response to her blog and said you could read about your wedding story on your blog, I checked it out and so on and so forth! lotus is a blog friend of 'missmamma' and 'j', i believe.

i'm glad our cyber paths crossed!

I did a search on Japan and English Teachers and found your blog. I am very pleased to have found it as you are a charming lady and a good internet friend.

Well I know I definitely fall under the "Next Blog" link-click category! I guess I just got lucky. :)

I found Jill's blog because she had linked to mine and then I think we bonded a little later on down the line. I think you emailed me and I was glad you did.

Chrissy121875 said...

Canine: Yes, I remember that :) I found Lotus' link on Ms.Mamma's blog and thought her blog topic re: marriage proposals was interesting. I've commented on her blog once or twice, but have never had replies to my comments. LOL! :) I'm sure glad you contacted me though! I think you're a really cool person. BTW, that black chocolate you sent was really good. I'm more of a milk chocolate person, but that one you sent was really, REALLY good.

Pete: I have also done searches on Japan and ESL stuff. It's neat to read other people's experiences traveling/teaching abroad.

Sharkey: Yes, that's amazing how amidst all the thousands of blogs out there, mine would be one you happened upon by chance. Amazing. Glad you left a comment :) I really enjoy corresponding with you and Conne!

Ms.Mamma: I think after Jill, you were my first blog buddy. LOL! Of course, Jill and I are friends in real life, so I don't know if that counts. I think I did e-mail you--something about how great your photos were. I remember the e-mail correspondence kept going and going...mainly because we had a lot to say and partially because it was months and months later that you told me that my comments were going to your e-mail and not on the blog. I had no idea how to leave comments on your blog! LOL! *sigh* I never said I was a brainiac :) I'm glad we started corresponding. You are by far one of the coolest people I've 'met'. I like that the English Major in us both shines in our comments sometimes and that sometimes we both have warped sense of humours :) Oh, and True has got to be one of the cutest little guys I've ever seen. What a cutie!

I think you found me... I can't remember for sure...

I found you clinging for life on the side of a mountain in Tibet and nursed you back to life over the course of 3 months with lentil soup and ho-hos. I'm surprised you don't remember.

Miss Moneypenny said...

diesel, you make me laugh!

It's me, I'm the Farmers Feed Cities girl! That's how I found you, and I'm so glad I did too. I lurked for a little bit before I first posted, but your blog is so much fun I couldn't help but join in!

I'm not holding out much hope of me starting my own blog - I'm a bit of a Luddite like that.

Chrissy121875 said...

Mist: Yeah, I have no idea. LOL! It's kind of like being at a party where there are so many people and everyone's drinking...and you have no idea who gave you their phone number or who you gave your phone number to! LOL!

Monkey Girl: I think I saw one of your comments on Curiosity's blog or Mist's blog and thought it was interesting, so I dropped you a line. It was all me this time! I made the first move. LOL! :)

Diesel: LOL!!! You crack me up! Of course I remember now. How could I ever forget??? So, that's why everytime I eat lentil soup, I think of you.

Miss Moneypenny: I am so glad you found me while searching Farmers Feed Cities...although I'm still surprised that you found me! LOL! I still don't know how my blog came up for FFC. Ah well! I'm REALLY happy you found me. You are one cool gal pal. See you in August, right? ;)

We have been friends for a long time. We worked together. I knew you had a blog. I'm addicted to leaving comments but refuse to start up a blog of my own. Hehh eh he!

AHMM: Yes, and you are one of my dearest friends :) xo

I found your site when I did a search for weddings on Manitoulin. My sister is getting married on the Island at Ice Lake, her soon to be husband has a camp there. I am trying to help her out in finding, a baker for her cake, a photographer, she has a wedding planner already but she just needs a few extras which we are having a hard time finding. I believe your site is the only wedding site on manitoulin. I hope you can help me out. I'd really appreciate it!

I found your blog via a comment you left on my blog - - there is an interesting twist there. I'll be sure to let you know if you'd like to email me!

Have a great day...

Danielle: I was in your neck of the woods on the weekend, but only overnight. We got there in the evening on Sat and left there in the morning on Sun. It was a crazy short trip. I did see Dina and was surpised when she told me you lived right around the corner from where I was staying! Had I known, we could have met up! Darn! I hope all's well where you are. How are you feeling now that you're back to work?

Kendra: I can e-mail you info on our photographer (he is AMAZING!! Some of our wedding photos are on my blog, but I can show you more). I can also give you contact info for the person who did our wedding cake (it was superb and I am so thrilled with the job she did), as well as florists on the Island. I had seasonal/local flowers from the Island that my mother-in-law and her friend arranged for us, but if your sister wants classic flowers like roses or whatever, there are quite a few places on the Island that will do that for her. Shoot me an e-mail and I'll get back to you.

Chasing Daylight: I find your blog so interesting because it sometimes seems to me that we're living parallel lives- you being a teacher in a rural area in Quebec. I lived in Quebec before and I worked at two summer camps in Quebec. I'd really like to hear that interesting twist! Tell me!! :) You can email me at cg underscore lee121875 at hotmail dot com.
