Happy and Sad
I'm so very happy because:
* I get to live on such a beautiful island
* I have a wonderful husband
* We have a great life up here together
*I don't live too far from my parents and my mother-in-law
* We're close to nature
* We don't have the hectic commutes to work every day
* I don't have to live in a crowded, polluted, congested place
* It's a healthier lifestyle here (lots of physical activity every day and no junk food close by)
* We're doing what we love doing
* We get to go to the beach whenever we want
* My pup, Chance is so much happier having so much land to run around on
* Our two little nieces live close-by and spend a lot of time with us
*I've got a amazing sister-in-law who lives just around the corner from us
*We have a lot of very good friends in our lives. We're so lucky!
I'm kinda sad because:
*I sometimes miss the rest of my family
* I really miss my Baby Bro
*I don't get to see my little nephew, Kenny all the time. He's now 4 months old and I've seen him 3 times, but I still feel like I'm missing out on his growing up
* I always miss family events like this past weekend's bridal shower/stag for my cousin and his fiancee. At least we'll be at the wedding in August though.
* I don't get to see my friends often. We visit with them twice or three times a year or they come up to see us.Here are a few pics of the family fun I missed in Montreal on the weekend: (above) The happy couple, looking so cute together! (below) Baby Bro's girlfriend. Good lord...She's officially part of our crazy family! LOL!
Baby bro and my cousin. Goofy, eh? LOL!Little Kenny and my cousin, Jey. I cannot believe how fast my little nephew is growing...and I'm missing out on it all :(
I also miss the girls! They are so much fun :) See you at the wedding in August!

City girl moves to the country, falls in love, and marries a farmer. She tries to incorporate her city ways with her new country lifestyle and blogs to keep in touch with friends, family & students who live far, far away :) Can this city girl go country? Watch as she learns all sorts of exciting things about life on the farm and in a small rural community. *UPDATE* We are now parents! Our baby girl was born on Nov. 11, 2008 (at 28 weeks gestation- 12 weeks premature, but she's quite the trooper)!!!

LOL! Thanks T.Rose. I nabbed these photos from your Facebook! ;) Hahaha!
Oh Christine! Don't be sad! I know it's hard to be away from family sometimes. You'll be gettin;g lots of visits from yrou friends and fmaily this summer anyway! You;ll be wishing you hadn't invited everyone over! Hah hah!
Chin up, sweets!
Those ladies are fit! Translation into Canadian: Those girls are gorgeous!
I have been in Cebu for two weeks. Lots of beach, sun, and alcohol! Did you lot miss me?
I concur. Some hotties there !
What is your brother doing with that bottle?!!
Oh my gosh, Chrissy, your family definitely is a fun bunch! I'm so sorry you don't get to see everyone as often as you'd like. I know it would be really tough for me to not have my family close by. But you have listed some really, really great reasons why you love living on Manitoulin!! Sending hugs your way!
Jane
Asian chicks are hot.
And other chicks.
t:
Thanks :) Today is my 4 year anniversary being on the island. I don't know why I've been so weepy. I didn't miss my friends and family like this before.
Pete:
Haha! They are pretty, aren't they!? How was Cebu? I've never been, but I've been to Puerto Galera and loved it.
Total Spender:
HAHAHA! They are a bunch of hotties, if I do say so myself! As for the bottle? Don't even ask! My brother and my cousins are crazy! :) Gotta love 'em! I miss being around all the craziness! Good times!
Jane:
Yeah, they are tons of fun! I really didn't seem to miss everyone that much until I saw photos of the shower I missed on the weekend and of my little nephew who is growing like a weed! He's so big! I have always grown up with my cousins around. We're a very closely-knit family. So sad that some of us are scattered around the globe now.
Diesel:
Hahaha! Too funny!
By the way, have you been working on those girly shirts? :)
It is always hardest when you see everyone having fun and you can't be there. Looking at the big picture though it would seem that you are very happy on the Island. You just have to make the most of your visits when they happen
Chrissy - Seeing as it's a anniversary of you being on the island, it's understandable to be a bit melancholy. It must be tough to be away from your family when you're obviously such a close-knit one. Especially when they're so much fun!
I think the lifestyle and the life that you have with hubby is so worth being where you are though. And you do have some of your family there which is great.
We're going to Montreal to see my relatives soon too, they haven't yet met little G. We're not so close to the Montreal part of the family (my cousins are much older than me) but it's still nice to visit and show the kids our family traditions.
Your cousins are crazy (to take pictures like that with the beer bottle), your aunts are crazy (from first hand observation).
Y'all so cra-zy~
Hee hee. Makes me cringe, but also makes me laugh like no other.
Hi Chrissy! I'm glad you have so much to be happy about. Hope the sad time are few and far between.
I concur with the folks, there are fit ladies, very easy on the eyes!
Beach Mama:
Thank you for your comment. It couldn't have come at a better time! Sometimes a person just needs some perspective on things. I was talking to a girlfriend of mine this morning, and though I miss my family and friends, I don't miss living in the city. I guess yesterday was just "one of those days". When you realize that everyone gets together and you're missing out on all the gatherings and get togethers, it kind of hits you. Then I realize that I do get to see my friends and family several times a year and there's no place I would rather be than here, on the island, with my wonderful Hubby and our wonderful life.
Karen:
You know the funny thing is that it was Hubby who reminded me that today is my 4 year anniversary on the island. I totally forgot about it! I suppose that subconsciously had me feeling slightly homesick for my family in Montreal. I'll be there in August for my cousin's wedding, so I will see everyone then. Besides, when I did live in Montreal, I lived within minutes from the rest of my family and after we all grew up and got jobs, we rarely saw each other. Now that I live on the island, I see some of my family more often than when I saw them when we lived near them! One of my cousins has come up 4 or 5 times last year! He usually makes a few trips each year.
Curiosity:
HAHAHA!! Yeah, they were pretty crazy at our wedding last year, eh? My family's all about fun and enjoying life. They are hilarious! I love 'em! We blame the Spanish blood in us from our ancestors! LOL! A big fiesta, a little siesta and a lot of good times! Where you still at the wedding when they started to do the "Ocho Ocho" dance? Hahahaha!
Pavel:
Hullooooooo! How have you been doing? Thanks for popping by :) You always leave the nicest comments!
Chrissy, feel free to link to me! Sorry, I thought I had answered you the last time you asked, I need to update my links too, and you will be there when I do :)
"Manitoulin Island"
Where is that located?
Beach mama:
Thanks! I've linked you :)
JK:
Manitoulin Island is situated in the middle of Lake Huron (the Great Lakes) in Ontario, Canada. It's the largest fresh water island within a fresh water lake. I just checked out your blog! Very neat!
