Men and Women

Having been married for one year now, there are a few things that I have learned. My husband is my best friend, my partner, my team member, my soulmate, my confidant, my everything. I have also found that the relationship between man and woman can sometimes be rather curious.

I find it very intriguing how different the two sexes can be. For example, the time it takes to get ready to go out for the evening or an event:

Hubby - undress, hop in the shower, shampoo, rinse, soap, rinse, jump out of the shower, towel dry body, towel dry hair, put on underwear, socks, shirt, pants, shoes. Good to go in less than 10 minutes.

Me - choose outfit to wear to event, change outfit 3 or 4 times, find shoes to match, find a cuter pair of shoes, find a more comfortable pair, decide between the cute and comfortable factor, make a final decision on the shoes, undress, hop in shower, wet hair, shampoo, rinse, apply facial scrub, condition hair, rinse off scrub, lather body wash onto body, rinse off conditioner from hair, rinse body, towel dry hair, towel dry body, brush teeth again before applying make-up, comb damp hair, apply volumizing product to hair, set hair in velcro rollers, apply moisturizer to face, apply foundation, apply loose powder, apply eye shadow, eyeliner, mascara, lip liner, lip gloss, blowdry hair, take off rollers, brush hair, style hair, put on outfit, decide that the outfit looks hideous, change again two or three times. Run out the door, yelling "We're late! We're late!" while Hubby patiently waits with car keys in hand. Total prep time: less than 1 hr and a half if I'm lucky.

I used to scoff at friends who lived by the book Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus. I now realize that the psychology of men and women really do differ. It's not a bad thing. It's just really fascinating. Just the way we perceive the same phrases and ideas are so different. It's quite funny sometimes.

For example:

"Honey, could you please dispose of the garbage bags?"
Hubby: Okay, sure. (Thinking that it'll be done eventually)
Wifey: Uhhh...like today? I mean...now?

"I'm kind of thirsty, are you?"
Hubby: No, not really.
Wifey: That means, 'would you be a dear and get me something to drink? I know you've been working all day, but so have I and it would be so nice if you could just get me something to drink.' LOL! Okay, I'm not really that much of a pain!

"I'm tired" or "I'm going to bed now"
Hubby: Okay. Good night! (see you after I finish this movie or when I finish watching the news)
Wifey: Uhhh...that means 'It's time for bed"! LOL! Okay, I am usually in bed after Hubby is though. You know...addicted to Facebook and Blogger. Grrr.

"We should go to blah blah for supper sometime!"
Hubby: Yeah. That's a nice restaurant.
Wifey: Uhhh...more like today!?!?!? I haven't had a night where I haven't had to cook and clean and do dishes in ages. It would be nice to have a little treat once in a while. LOL

It's these differences that make the relationship between men and women so fun. I must commend Hubby though. He has a way of sometimes knowing what I'm thinking before I even tell him! He's gotten quite good at this too!

Me: Honey, could you...
Hubby: I already threw out the cat litter.

Me: Honey, do you think you can...
Hubby: I already tilled the soil so you could start planting your corn.

Me: Honey, can you...
Hubby: I already fixed the window screen in the bedroom.

Me: Honey, can we...
Hubby: Yes, I already booked us a one week vacation in the Dominican Republic and we leave on Friday.

Just kidding. The last one did not happen, but 3 out of 4 is not bad, eh? ;)

I LOVE MY HUSBAND!!! I am so very lucky that he puts up with my craziness sometimes.

Poor Johnny! Hahahahah! Just Kidding- your not that bad Chris but I do know what you mean about men not understandign what a woman means when she says thing sometimes. Same here- "Could you please put out the garbage" means could you put out the garbage NOW? not next week! Ahhhhhhhhhhh husbands are funny creatueres aren't they?

Great Post!
I love the one about "I'm going to bed now", but that is totally opposite for us. He's the one saying that and I'm the one stuck doing whatever and saying, "Ok! Be up right after I finish...."

My hubby borrowed the book, "The Female Brain" from a friend and they both found it facinating. Check it out sometime. When I gave it a gander, I had some pretty interesting moments of "Oh so that's why I...."

What a wonderful hubby you have, Christine! Actually, you are both so lucky to have each other.

What a sweetie he is... always one step ahead of you and your wishes. What a great man!

I know you both in person so I can truthfully say that you are both so very lucky to have found the perfect partner in each other.

Doggy Mama:
Thank you, Jane! Haha...Yes, he is getting very good at being able to know what I want done before I even tell him! LOL! He says we're "in sync" with each other. That's one of the reasons I married him!

Hot Mommy:
Thank you! That is such a sweet thing to say! :) Love you too!

louann:
I totally agree with you! :)

You can call me the anti-groom! I am a chronic relationship disaster waiting to happen. Good on you that you have found your match. Still waiting to find mine but happily enjoying single life.

Hi Chrissy

It's been a while since I've stopped by. Enjoyed reading and catching up on your wonderful posts. From Throw Back thursday, and your garden, and Chance, and the Kitties. I can't believe you never heard of a fish fry?

I had to laugh at japanmanpete's comment. I so agree with him!LOL!

You and hubby rock!

Happy fourth!

CUTE post Chrissy! You are BANG on! Although if you ever have kids, you'll likely notice a role reversal in the time allotted to get ready, to make the time to get the tykes ready and looked after before you can head out (ie. less than 10 minutes for Mom, remainder of the 1 hr 20 minutes running around for kidlets. Even with hubby helping, everything always takes longer.) If I remember to choose the outfit, I hae to do it the night or a few days before LOL!
Guys and girls really think differently, that much I know. Sometimes I think they're in different time zone, and I don't know about John, but Ian is an expert at the "mansearch" (can't find anything, especially if it's right in front of him or on his head :)
It is amazing how you have this unspoken communication already in 1 year. You guys were obviously meant to be together. What a sweet pair you are!

It is hard to be humble when you are perfect in every way.

Love you honey!

Pete:
LOL! The anti-groom??? Yeah, come back to me in a few years when you've found that special someone, and I'll remind you of what you said about marriage and relationships! ;)

Ms.Mamma:
Thanks, but YOU are so very lucky too! You've got your little bambino at your side to walk beside you through all of life's adventures. Now that is something special too! ;)

Uncivil:
Awwww! Thank you! Again, I must say that you are the most civil uncivil person I've ever encountered! Hope you and the girls had a great 4th of July! ;)

Karen:
:) Your comment totally made me laugh! Thank you! You know, I was thinking before that I want to have kids NOW, but seeing how crazy and hectic our life is right now and how little time John and I actually have alone together, I'm thinkin' how on earth are we ever going to manage everything AND have kids?? Hmmm... I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there! LOL!

Hubby:
I love you too!!!
