Motherhood

Even when I was a little girl, I always knew I wanted to be two things. I knew I wanted to be a teacher and I knew I wanted to be a Mom.

I grew up with two brothers and lots (and lots) of cousins. I was no stranger to big families and kids running around the house. When my friends started having babies, I would always go gaga over their kids. I love, love, LOVE babies and couldn't wait to be a Mom myself.

It was quite fitting that Karen tagged me in a Motherhood Meme that was launched at Her Bad Mother, because I was just thinking about motherhood and what it means to me. Since I'm a new mom, I've got lots to celebrate this coming Mother's Day. What better way to mark next month's special occasion than participate in this meme? Here are five things that I love about being a mother:

1) I love waking up every morning and looking at my little sweetpea in total awe and wonderment. "I cannot believe we made you!!!"
I've said this countless times before, but making a human being is not like making a cake!! It's amazing to see that Hubby + C = Little One! I've been a mom for almost five months now, and I'm still always amazed by our sweet Little One!

2) I love the feeling in my heart when she looks at me. 3) I love that I'm the one she looks for when she cries. That sounds kind of warped, doesn't it? Sounds kind of needy on my part, but it does feel good knowing that I'm the one she wants and that I'm the one who can make her troubles go away. Ask me that when she's a teenager! I wonder if I'll still be the person she looks for when she's cranky, sleepy, hungry, tired, not feeling well, sad, hurt, or upset.

4) I love that now I feel complete. It sounds ridiculous, but I'm just being honest. Life feels so much fuller now that Little One is in our lives. I have a wonderful husband, a roof over our heads, we're never in shortage of food, we are doing what we love to do for a living. Having Little One is just the icing on the cake. I've always wanted to be a Mom and now that we have a daughter, I cannot imagine my life without her.
5) I love the sweet little butterfly kisses and all the smiles and coos. It's those precious everyday moments that I love the most. It's those moments that you just want to capture in your heart and in your memory forever.
I almost wish I could sometimes just freeze time and keep those moments with me for longer. I know that Little One will grow up and she'll experience many new things in her life. I also know that I will make mistakes and I may not be a perfect person and a perfect Mom. I just hope she knows that I love her so much and will try my best to be the Mom she needs.
Before I get all weepy, I'm going to tag a few wonderful blogging Moms:
Canine (though I know she's not into memes and probably will not do this!)
FancyPantsyMomma, proud Mom of two beautiful girls!
My former roomies, Danielle and Gavie's Gal

What a wonderful post. You are so blessed.
I'm coming home this weekend, so I *expect* to visit! Hope that's alright - how's Friday evening, or Saturday sometime during the day?
Can't wait to see you!

I can't wait!! I was on the phone with Brenda last night and she wanted to visit the baby as well (and I'm assuming she wanted to see us too!). Friday sounds great. If we're not at our house, we'll be at my parents' and you're always welcome there! Saturday during the day sounds good too. I know we're going to be having Easter dinner at my MIL's because Hubby's sister is here for Easter weekend but leaving on Sunday.

Either way, give us a shout and we'll get together. I'm planning on taking Little One to the Easter Egg hunt on Sunday. This year it's not at John Budd Park. It's at the ball field in Tehk. I think Brenda wanted to pop by on her way back to Suds on Sunday afternoon. Not too sure what family festivities will be going on though. Do you have your Easter meal on the Sunday?

BTW, Little One went to her first Palm Sunday service :) She slept through most of it, but was wide awake during the hymns. The kid loves music! She was just looking around and smiling! Too funny! It was just Little One and her Mom since Hubby was sick. I am still learning how to juggle car seat, diaper bag, opening and closing doors, etc.

Thank you :) I can't wait to read what you have to say about being a Mom! I know what you mean. It's hard to not write a novel, isn't it!? :) There's just so much to say!

What a sweet, sweet post. I'm all weepy just reading these Motherhood meme posts. She is just darling, and such a precious little girl. Your words bring me right back to when I first brought my daughter home from the hospital. The swelling of joy and pride for my own family.

Just beautiful.

Thank goodness you are not the perfect mom. Can you imagine what pressure that would be for your little one to live up to? You are, however, a wonderful and amazing mother, and you have a wonderful and amazing daughter. :)

5 things i love about being a mother, eh? sorry i don't have any saccharine stuff to share. :)

1) i get to control what music my daughter listens to. none of that hannah montana sh-t. hello metallica and slayer. (kidding on slayer only. actually, i'm allowing her to listen to the jonas brothers now. oooh, cringe.

2) she and i have a lot of fun drawing funny pictures together. we enjoy hearing each other laugh.

3) i love cooking my daughter's favorite foods like spaghetti, pot roast, and fried rice (but not together).

4) i love baking stuff with my daughter, especially banana bread and cookies. she likes measuring and making a mess.

5) i love teaching her about history, music, movies, and trivia.

pretty much, she is my mini me, complete with my sarcasm, wierd sense of humor, use of in-jokes, spouting off lines from movies,as well as use(ful)less trivia. right down to the captain kirk cadences when we joke around using 50 cent words.

C, I knew you would do a wonderful job with this, you were so ready to be a mom and in this short time you are already rocking this gig :)!

Your little one is sooooo precious, and you are exactly right when you say that she completes you... and you know, I bet she will still be looking for you when she cries ... no one like mama to heal all that ails.

Lovely, lovely post!
