A Very Special Wedding

Little One and I have been away from the blog (and from the Island) for a week. We left Hubby on the farm so we could go to Montreal for my cousin's wedding. Don't worry. On the Saturday before I left, I cooked up a storm and made sure he had all his meals for the seven days that I was gone.

Last Saturday, Rrrren and Shar were wed. If you know the couple, you would have to agree that they are two of the kindest, sweetest, most thoughtful and most special people ever. I love these two so much, and it was such a treat to be able to be there for their big day.
It was also so great to be back "home" and with my family. I really miss them now that I live so far away.Four generations: My Mom, my grandmother, my daughter and me I come from a very close family and we always have so much fun together.
With Little One, MiddleBro's 2 year old son and 3 month old twins, as well as my cousin's 1 month old twins, there were babies everywhere!!! My cousin joked that every room he went to there were babies!
We also had the opportunity to see friends and family members we haven't seen in a while. Little One also got to meet her cousins:Kenny, Olala and Brookie.Hugs from big cousin Kenny!
Little One: Whoa! Am I seeing double?!?!
Little One and the twins were supposed to be born two weeks apart. Little One decided to arrive three months early though!
I must say that Little One surprised (and impressed) me by surviving the car ride from the Island to Montreal. Normally, we can make the drive in 8 or 9 hours, but with the baby, it took us 12 hours. She was soooooooooo good! She slept most of the way and had to be woken for feedings and diaper changes. The wedding itself was spectacular. Of course, I ended up bawling my eyes out when I saw the bride walk down the aisle. Shar was so gorgeous and radiant. Rrrren was a dashing groom and as 'made-for-Hollywood-movies' this sounds, you could just feel the love resonate throughout the church. I think I cried because it really is true love we witnessed that day. We've seen Rrrren and Shar from the beginnings of their relationship and through their years of growing together. Now, they are married and I am so happy that we were able to be there to share in their special day.
It was a traditional Filipino wedding with all the symbols for their union. There were the gold coins, the veil, the marital rope (to bind them together as a couple), the Bible, the rings, the candles, the sponsors, the coin bearer, the ring bearer, the flower girl, etc.

There was a beautiful surprise for the bride and groom at the reception. There were traditional Filipino dancers. It was so wonderful to be able to share this part of our culture with the guests at the wedding.

Just had to take photos of the most amazing wedding cupcakes ever!!!

Before I sign off, here are a couple of funny vids from the wedding. The identities of the parties involved will be kept private (for obvious reasons...which you are about to find out). These wedding goers are trying their hand at the traditional Filipino dance with the bamboo sticks. The video is kind of dark, so you won't notice that one of the dancers is my Mom ;)

You know at some weddings when you want the bride and the groom to kiss, you have to sing a song that includes the words "love" or "$3X" in the lyrics? Well, these three brave crazy cousins of mine "performed" their rendition of this *ahem* 'classic' Boyz II Men 'ballad' ;p

It looks like you had a FABULOUS time, and you sure deserved and needed a vacation!

I'll admit to being jealous of your trip. When Maya was about 4 months old, we took a 6 hour drive to go to an engagement party, and she SCREAMED the entire 6 hours, except when we stopped and held her at rest stops. GOD, she hated that backwards facing car seat! The only good thing was that she wore herself completely out, and slept through the night for the first time that night. We all needed it! She cried the entire 6 hours home too, which when you're in gridlocked New York City traffic, SUCKS. Sigh. It was a great party, though.

Glad you had fun, it looks like a GORGEOUS wedding, and little one is cute as a little button. :)

Great to hear that you and Little One had some quality time with the family. I just love seeing everyone at weddings.

Brian (AKA Starshine?) :)
I have to double check, but I think the church is either the oldest or second oldest church in Montreal. I was blown away by how beautiful it is!!!
