So much to tell, so little time!

It's been a very busy few weeks and I've got some things to share with you.

1. These photos are of our Mother's Day celebration on the weekend.

Jimbo, I thought you'd like to see another photo of the ice cream cake! Here's a cross section shot for you.My beautiful 88 year old grandmother...and her famous leche flan.
This is what I'm going to need to do a lot of after our day of celebrating!2. Hubby and I went to the Island Singers concert last night. If any of you are ever visiting the Island when there's an Island Singers concert, please go and listen! You will be blown away! I can't even tell you how beautiful the music is. I'm not just saying this because my mother-in-law and a good friend of mine are in the Island Singers. I'm saying this because it's true. Last night, Hubby, my SIL, Niece2 and I were sitting in the front row and some of the songs were just so moving that they brought me to tears. Yes, I'm a cry baby and I cry when I watch Tim Horton's commercials and Disney movies, but I also cry when music is just so beautiful. Embarrassing? Yes. I can't seem to control it. I wasn't blubbering or bawling though. I was just "misty eyed". I always tell Hubby that music is really good if it has the power to move you so much that it makes you cry. I suppose it could be argued that my theory is flawed, since really horrible music can probably make a person cry too. This was not the case last night, however.

Anyway, please do try to attend an Island Singers concert if you can. The director does a wonderful job and the accompanist is flawless!

Since I'm on a roll here with promoting the arts, another must see is Gilbert & Sullivan's HMS Pinafore. I'm a big Gilbert & Sullivan fan and have seen a performance of HMS Pinafore in Stratford. It's one of my favourites (along with The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado, and Iolanthe)! I hope you have your tickets already for the Burns Wharf Theater performance, because tickets are already sold out!

3. Sorry I've been so lax lazy slow tardy in getting your movie prizes to you (Canine, Jimbo, VE, Starshine, Deb, and Karen). The prize and consolation prizes are all here in our office and waiting to be sent out. Sooooo sorry! I have no excuse other than it's been crazy busy here. Jeanna, your birthday present is here too! I WILL get those things out in the mail ASAP. Sorry guys!

4. Curiosity Killer, I just got your postcards from Japan! Thank you sooooooooo much! You are such a sweet friend. I'm so glad you enjoyed your trip. Now you see why I love Japan so much and why I fell in love with Kyoto! :) Thanks again for the postcards! Love ya! XO

5.Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! Do not (I repeat, DO NOT) ever tell her I showed you this! I swear, she'd have my head on a platter if she ever knew I did this!

J-Boy, the Japanese boy who has been staying with us was showing my Mom some really cool optical illusions on this site when she was at our house for Mother's Day. Click on the link and view the site's Optical Illusions first before watching the video. Make sure your sound is turned up.
Anyway, the result was hilarious. Yes, that's me laughing hysterically in the background. I don't speak my Mom's native language of Tagalog, but I understand it. Let's just say that the phrase she uttered in the video "Putang ina mo" is not a good phrase!

OMG, C, that almost gave ME a coronary LOL!!!! I wonder if your mom uttered the phrase synonymous with something that starts with the letter "F" that's, well, not such a great phrase either- which slipped out of my mouth a couple of minutes ago!!

Looks like it was a wonderful mother's day celebration though. bad girl for laughing at your mama like that ;)

Mmmmmm... Flan. (drool~)
Glad you had a great weekend!

Karen:
LOL! I know I shouldn't have laughed. It was funny though! The phrase was a REALLY bad one and you could use it in situations when you want to say something that starts with the letter "F"!

Sorry for scaring you! You should try it on Ian! Just kidding! ;)

Shannon:
:) Thank you! Hope you had a lovely weekend too. Do you have family close by?

Gorgeous. It's photo ready. Who plates everything? Hugs to granny, what a doll and what beautiful flan. So you're a singer too? Where do you get all your energy. Oh, I guess I just have to look at the photos.
Slurp. Gonna make me a feta spinach chicken sausage for lunch.

I know, I know! LOL! It was horrible...BUT so funny! I was an innocent bystander though! LOL! I don't know how many times I've replayed that video. Pretty sadistic, isn't it?

Canine:
She only says that phrase when she's
A) in shock
B) scared or startled
C) really, REALLY pissed off! LOL!

I think she was all of the above in the video!!!

Hot Mommy:
Thanks, lovey! :) That's so sweet!

Deb:
Sure, I'll send some over! ;) Thanks for your kind words about my family :) Oh, I'm finally getting those prizes sent out. Let me know when you receive yours.

Soooooooo sorry if it scared you! LOL! I've got a warped sense of humour. People who meet me would never believe I've got that non-angelic side to me! LOL! I'm a bit of a prankster to those who really know me. My Dad and I are always playing tricks on each other...only now since he's had a heart attack and a stroke, I would never do anything to him like make him check out those optical illusions! I'm not that horrible! ;)

Did you get Ted with that one? He's probably too clever to ever fall for that trick though!

Jeanna:
Mmmmmmmm! Your lunch sounds divine! Anything with spinach and feta sounds good to me!
Thanks for the kind words :) I love my grandma. I'm so sad she's going to Montreal on Thursday to spend tine with my other family members. I'm selfish and would like to keep her here with us :)

I actually plate the food. I go a bit overboard sometimes with the presentation. Totally obsessive about stuff like that. Sad, eh?

Jeanna said...

No not sad, it completes the process. Why waste all that hard work by just plopping it on a plate.

It's a very good thing I don't live close to you and your family; I'd have to spend hours on the elliptical too. Ha.

Great photo presentation. Thanks for sharing!

I am seriously coming over for supper tonight! The GTA is only 6 hrs away from the island!

Happy bleated mommy's day to your mom and grandmother!

Jeanna:
You are so right :) Plus, it's really fun to arrange and plate food for your guests. I love the aesthetics aspect of dinner parties! So much of the appeal is the taste AND appearance.

Calf Keeper:
If you guys lived close to us, I'd love to cook for you guys! :) That elliptical is certainly going to pay for itself soon! Hubby was even using it today!

T:
:) Yeah, the GTA isn't THAT far! LOL! ;) We used to drive from Montreal to Florida every year and we didn't think that it was far! It took a day and a half to get there, but we loved going through all the different states and seeing more of the U.S. than if we had taken the plane.

That's one thing I love about my parents...that they showed us from early on how much fun road trips could be!

Oh my....That ALL looks so good. I think I just put on 5 pounds just looking at all of it!
Looks like you had a lovely Mother's Day.
