Did Anyone Say Cravings???

For Jeanna, because she is making me want to go to Wisconsin for some ice cream and Baraboo Candy Company cow pies!!!

I once went to Singapore for some Spicy Singapore Noodles and a Singapore Sling. I once went to the Philippines for some freshly baked pandesal. I went to Japan and had real sushi and okonomiyaki (not the stuff we get in many North American Japanese restaurants). I even went to the Dominican Republic to try out their widely talked about Mamajuana (that's Mamajuana and not marijuana, people)! I went to Bali for some Buah Kacang Mekuah and Nasi Goreng .
I even went to Trinidad and Tobago for some roti with channa, doubles and polouri! Oh, and I can't forget the time I had lime squash and 'bake' (AKA 'macaroni bake' or 'macaroni pie') with pepper sauce in Barbados!

Another strange thing about me? I won't eat New York Cheesecake unless I'm in New York and I will never eat smoked meat unless I'm in Montreal and it's Montreal Smoked Meat. Food snob? Perhaps a little!

There's just something about going to the actual place where these famous dishes are from that makes the experience seem so special.

This said, though I have been to Florida many, many times, I've never been to the Florida Keys for some real Key Lime Pie. In the meantime, nothing beats the Key Lime Pie at the Garden's Gate Restaurant! It's sooooooooooooo good! (Did I mention how much I love the Garden's Gate?)

Oh, what the heck! I'll also throw in a photo of the Mad About Chocolate Cheesecake that Hubby ordered.

:) Hubby LOVES the Mad About Chocolate Cheesecake. It's a bit too rich for my taste buds, but it really is good!

I tried to find a good website for "lime squash" on the internet, but couldn't find anything good :( Basically, it's a nice, refreshing lime drink and when I was in Barbados I was HOOKED on lime squash! When my friend introduced me to the drink, I actually thought lime squash was something completely different. I didn't know it would be a fizzy/slushy/yummy drink!!!

Rachie:
Oh my goodness! That's right! You're also in Wisconsin! Okay, another reason for me to come for a visit!!! Definitely...you, me, and Baraboo Candy Company Cow Pies! LOL! Oh, and of course Ms.Mamma, Jeanna and we'll try to get Jimmy over too! LOL!

Food! You are trying to make me hungry? And I'm stuck in a motel in the Northwoods where there's one restaurant and it closed at 2pm. :(

Wow! The one restaurant in the Northwoods closes at 2PM? Where on earth do tourists eat supper?? :) Oh, I saw a program on TV once about the Wisconsin Northwoods and I remember a the mention of a store called Equus Fine Chocolates. I remember this because it was so interesting! Each of the chocolates are made by hand and are made for horse lovers. Each box of chocolate comes with a colour print of one of the artist's horse paintings. I thought that was pretty neat.

Mmmmmmmm!!! When you make the Mad About Chocolate Cheesecake, let me know how it turns out!!! :)

When I was in Barbados and my friend's sister took me out for lime squash, I totally wasn't expecting it to be a drink! LOL! I don't know what I was thinking, but to me, "lime squash" sounded more like squash with lime...and I love squash (especially butternut squash)! LOL! I think they might call it lime squash because they have to "squash" the limes to get the lime juice??? LOL! I don't know! That's just my guess! ;p

Hot Mommy:
I think the recipe is somewhere in my recipe archive on the sidebar of my blog. I'll check for you. If not, I'll just e-mail it to you :) Glad the kids like the recipe! Happy Father's Day to your Dad and to your Hubby!

Hey Kiddo, I wouldn't be planing a trip to Boo any time soon (near where the lake is no longer a lake, and took four houses).
I'm thinking the Mad About Chocolate Cheesecake and Singapore Noodles for brunch.
Have been eating like a mad cow lately; you should have seen what Jackie packed for Bug's little league game.
Geez, these swim shorts are stretched to the limit and no place to swim cuz of the flooded lakes.
Sigh.
I have to check out that lime squash.

Hope your day is a good one!
