Letting the cat out of the bag...

This is something I have seen a lot of in the blog world recently. Some of my bloggy friends have posted the contents of their handbags and it has been something I have been meaning to do for ages now. I've just been too busy preoccupied lazy to take a photo of the contents of my bag. It's really interesting to see what kind of stuff one carries around! I couldn't believe just how much stuff I could cram into my bag! Crazy!

In my bag, you will see:

2 packages of Kleenex tissues
1 heart shaped Post-It pad
1 elastic hair tie
2 pens (I used to carry around 5 or 6 because I'm paranoid that when I need a pen I won't have one or if one doesn't work at least I'll have extra...and if I someone asks me if they can borrow a pen, I don't really want it back because of germs and I end up telling them to keep it. I know. I am a freak!)
4 photos (of Chance when he was a few weeks old, my nephew when he was newly born, Baby Bro's grad photo and a photo and obituary of my late aunt who died a few years ago)
1 key chain from Mexico that one of my Mexican students gave me
A bunch of keys (for our house, my car, my parents' house and a few keys I have no idea of what they're for)
1 cell phone
1 digital camera and camera case (never leave home without it)
My business cards
1 bottle of Purell (because I'm paranoid about germs and use Purell whenever I venture to public washrooms and elsewhere. If you think that's bad, you should see the huge honkin' bottle of Purell I have in my car!)
1 wallet
1 bag of Australian Ginger for nausea. I munch on the crystallized ginger whenever I feel ill. I get motion sickness and must have my ginger handy whenever I'm in the car for lengthy periods. Australian Ginger is my must have item on long road trips. My mother-in-law introduced me to the magical powers of crystallized ginger two years ago.
1 4Head tube for headaches. In case you hadn't noticed, I get really horrible headaches sometimes. I also do not like to take pills or medicine for headaches or other ailments. 4Head is a natural headache treatment that you rub on your temples or forehead. My friend, British Lion gave it to me when he was here visiting us.
1 eyeglasses case with clip-on sunglasses
A bunch of paper napkins

**What you didn't see in my bag:**
I neglected chose not to totally forgot to show you that I carry the following items in my purse too:

Canadian Tire money that I collect, but never seem to use
Wet Wipes (Hey, they're really handy sometimes)
A zillion receipts and print outs of ATM transactions (I'm really bad with not filing things right away and always end up with oodles and oodles of paper in my bag. Urgh)

I like your bag :) I didn't know that about ginger. I tried ginger candy for the first time last week, it was hard to finish the whole thing but it was yummy. I also have a tube of head ache stuff. It's called Head ON..had never heard of it til my SIL gave me some. Today may be a head ON day sad to say.

Holy cow!!! I'm amazed at how many things some women carry in their bags! It's like they could survive in the desert for weeks with just their purses!

Awww! Thanks!
Yes, the ginger works wonders for nausea. At first, when my MIL gave me some two years ago, I had to choke it down and thought it was the most vile thing ever. Now, I LOVE it! I think it's an acquired taste. It definitely grew on me.

That Head On sounds exactly the same as the 4Head thing I have. It is AMAZING! My friend told me not to put it anywhere near my eyes. Now I know why! That eucalyptus stuff burns!

BTW, I never told you that I love the name Autumn!

HAHA! Yes, me too! It surprises me at how much junk I've got in there!

I also neglected to show you the variety of lip glosses and other cosmetics I have in there! Not that you'd be interested! So, Pavel...If you were to carry around a "man purse", what would you have in there?

You know, after I posted this, I was just thinking that someone would ask that question! Canadian Tire money does sound rather cryptic, doesn't it?

We have this store (hardware, automobile/mechanical stuff, kitchen, garden, outdoors activity equipment, etc) called Canadian Tire. When you purchase items there, they give you Canadian Tire money. You can then use the Canadian money when you pay for your next purchases. They're usually in small amounts (5 cents, 10 cents, etc) but they do add up if you save them. I keep saving my Canadian Tire money, but I don't think I've ever actually used any of it. My husband has. I think I have enough money to buy a new windshield wiper blade for my vehicle! LOL!

P.S. The store's website is:

Yay! I'm looking forward to taking a peek into your purse! LOL! Yes, I had so much fun chatting with you on the phone this evening. I always enjoy our phone conversations. You are so funny. You totally RAWK! ;p

I cleaned out my bag yesterday and your bag contents were tame compared to mine. How do I get all that stuff in there? I guess a better question should be why don't I clean out my bag more often instead of procrastinating about it. Thanks for sharing.

Erm...OK, most of it makes sense, but why TWO tissues? Is one almost empty?

Don't answer that, because if I were to reveal what's in my bag, people would say, "Erm, why?" Right?

The state of my bag was much better than it usually is! That's kind of scary, isn't it? Sometimes I wonder what exactly I'm doing with all that junk in there. The receipts...oh, I need to find a better solution for keeping them (other than just shoving them into my bag as soon as I've made a purchase)!

J:
Two tissue packets...LOL! This little quirk is something I have picked up from my mother (although, I am not nearly as bad as she is). My mom believes one should have two of EVERYTHING! Everything needs a pair, she says. It's kind of sad, as I noticed I've been doing that too these days. I only needed one can of tuna and a cucumber at the grocery store yesterday, and ended up getting two of each.

hahaha...I have thought of doing this but never have because I was embarrassed about the 5 or 6 store reciepts I have in there. But now I feel better after reading about the contents of your handbag. When I get home maybe I'll do this.

Nice bag, BTW. I think I saw you with it during our last visit ... little did I know what lurked in there ...

So funny that you collect "crappy tire" money and keep it in your purse!!! I keep it, but it's stuffed in various drawers throughout the house... good place for it! Did I mention that I'm part squirrel?

Whoo hoo! I keep meaning to do that too. In Style has a whole spot on their website devoted to that exact thing.

Nice bag. I will have to try that headache stuff. I too use the ginger for when I feel sick. Your bag is so neat!

Calf Keeper:
Hope your trip was a great one! I've been without internet service for almost a week, so I'm looking forward to checking out your latest posts!

Karen:
LOL! Part squirrel! I love that! You're so cute, Karen! I wonder if anyone out there actually uses Canadian Tire money.

Rachie:
Oh, really??? That's so cool! I'm going to have to check out their site! Can't wait to see what you've got in your bag!!

Deb:
Awww...thanks! I like my purse too :) It was actually a gift from one of my mom's sisters. She always gives me the coolest presents. She gave me a Pashmina one year and I had no idea what it was! LOL! I suck.

Beachmama:
Thanks :) Oh, and do try that headache stuff. The one I got from my friend is from England, but there are a few other North American brands of the same (or similar) product.

Doesn't ginger just work wonders? I used to hate it and now it's my best friend! LOL!
