KanDi Jewelry ~ Because Every Girl Needs Something Sweet & Special @kandijewelry

There is no doubt that we have a little girly girl on our hands.  As much as I banned pink, frilly, girly, froufrou, blingy, sparkly items from the very beginning, we somehow ended up with a child who is all about the pink girly bling.

I am not kidding.  The girl wears frilly tutus and rubber boots to the barn!

She does have her ears pierced, though I have never (until recently) changed her earrings.  Of course I had taken them out, cleaned them, etc.  I just didn't give her more than the one pair she had.  She's only 4 years old.  She doesn't need to have a zillion pairs of earrings...yet.

Then one day, I received an email from KanDi Jewelry filled with the most adorable jewelry for little girls.  It was a veritable feast for the eyes...only with zero calories and zero cavities!

The Gummy Bear earrings, bracelets, and necklaces looked EDIBLE! They were the cutest things I had ever seen!  If I weren't 37. I'd like to have some for myself!

My daughter sat with me at the computer and oooh-ed and ahhhhh-ed, trying to decide which earrings she'd like.  I totally thought she'd want the pink, but chose the purple.

When the earrings arrived, Little One was over the moon!
Little One and I fell in love with the Gummy Bear earrings.  She has since asked me to get her the necklace and bracelet too.

Candy heart and jawbreaker jewelry are also available and are super cute.  I still love the Gummy Bears best.

I cautioned Little One that as irresistible as they may look, the earrings are NOT edible.  She looked at me and laughed.  "Awwww! Mommy! You're silly! Of course not! They're not REAL Gummy Bears, silly Mommy!"

Okay, then!

Olay Total Effects { Review and Giveaway } #PGMom

As a young girl, I remember looking at my grandmother in admiration.  She and my grandfather were my heroes.  My cousins, brothers and I had such respect for our grandparents. Hardworking, welcoming, and caring people, it was hard not to look up to them.
Not only was my grandmother a beautiful person on the inside, but she was so remarkably beautiful on the  outside too.

I remember cuddling with her as a little girl and putting my hand on her silky smooth face.  She was always so stunning! Impeccable skin. I'm talking flawless skin! She also looked decades younger than she actually was!

As a teen, I once asked her, "What's your secret? How do get such amazing skin?!"

Her answer?

"Oil of Olay, twice a day."

My grandmother was the epitome of "classic beauty". She was poised, always dressed well and always had her hair and make-up done just perfectly.

I realize this sounds like a TV commercial, but it's not.  Now that I'm a grown woman and a mother myself, I have adopted some of my grandmother's secrets. From composting vegetable and fruit scraps long before it was the popular thing to do, to keeping a sachet of lavender around to smell when a headache was bad, my grandmother had things right.  She used olive oil, honey, and lots of natural ingredients - things that I practice from learning from observing her in the kitchen.

I took my grandmother's advice to heart and I've been an Olay girl for the longest time.

Thought I've been an Olay user for what seems like forever and prefer to stick to my favourite products, I am always excited to see the new products Olay comes out with. Because I am getting older, and age is starting to show, I am very selective when it comes to what I put on my face.

I always used to joke that Asians always look younger than we actually are (I still get carded when buying wine at the LCBO!), I do see the signs of aging in my skin. I'm also worried that my years of sun worshiping have caused my skin to age prematurely.  I love spending time outdoors, especially in the Summertime. Even with wearing a wide-brimmed hat and sunscreen, I think it's still not enough to stop the damage from the sun. I've always had blemish-free skin. It seems I now have freckles!

It’s never too early or too late to start taking care of your skin and defending against the seven signs of aging with a high-quality facial regime like Olay Total Effects.

Olay Total Effects Daily Anti-Aging UV Moisturizer Plus Touch of Foundation Cream provides seven anti-aging benefits including line appearance minimization, nourishing moisturization, subtle appearance firming, brightening, gentle exfoliation, pore appearance refinement and anti-oxidants. It helps renew, restore and protect from UV rays for aging skin with the added benefit of a sheer foundation for immediate tone improvement.
I love this product! The Anti-Aging UV Moisturizer Plus Touch of Foundation Cream is my new must have product! It helps nourish my skin and makes it look amazing! If I'm in a rush, I just apply this, some lip gloss and a bit of eye make-up, and I'm good to go!

Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Aging Eye Cream Line and Dark Circle Minimizing Brush helps to instantly reduce the appearance of darkness under the eye all in one sweep of a brush. It contains a daily under-eye moisturizer that hydrates to firm skin’s appearance and minimizes the look of fine lines and a hint of tint instantly reduces the appearance of dark circles.
The Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti-Aging Eye Cream Line and Dark Circle Minimizing Brush really does make a noticeable difference. Love the brush too!

Olay Total Effects Refreshing Citrus Scrub offers an invigorating scrub that cleanses your skin without over-drying. Formulated with oil-absorbing beads, it gently exfoliates and cleanses thoroughly while the citrus- kissed formula refreshed your skin.
One word: Citrus! I'm a huge lover of citrus scented anything! Helps that this scrub is gentle on my sensitive skin.
Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting Night Moisturizer provides deep hydration and helps fight signs of aging with a vitamin-rich complex designed to smooth away the appearance of discolouration and age spots as you sleep.
Anything that helps fight the signs of aging while I sleep sounds good to me! I'm extremely worried about age spots. I have one or two right now and they really bug me.
Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting Eye Treatment treats the sensitive and delicate skin under the eye that needs to be treated with TLC. This treatment diminishes the look of under-eye darkness and helps to fight seven signs of aging.
What Mom doesn't suffer from lack of sleep? I don't know about you, but I have a bit of darkness under the eyes every now and then. I love the Olay Total Effects Tone Correcting Eye Treatment.

How would you like to achieve beautiful, healthier looking skin with the five Olay Total Effects products outlined above?

To enter, simply fill out the Rafflecopter form below. Giveaway open to residents of Canada. Ends February 9th! Olay prize valued at over $140

Help with Hair Woes for Big Events! @LavishDream

There once was a time when my hair was shiny, straight, and healthy.  I remember being ten years old and walking into the health store where we bought our vitamins, and the lady working there commented on how shiny my jet black hair was!

That didn't last long.

High school came around and I dyed, bleached, permed, crimped, and pretty much tortured my hair! Then there was a period in my teens to early twenties when I was anaemic and had to get regular B-12 shots from the doctor. My hair became stringy, fine, and thin. The only time my hair was great again was during my brief pregnancy, but after giving birth, it was stringy, fine, thin, and mousy again.

Can I tell you how envious I am of friends, family (and even strangers!) who have thick locks and gorgeous manes?

At the ShesConnected Conference in Toronto, I wanted to look my best.  Ummm...running around with ambassador duties was  not easy on my hair! I woke up early in the morning to blow dry and style my hair, only to have it looking like a matted, sweaty mess only minutes after reaching the conference hall!
With the Candian Beef Team

I have a little secret that I think only Sober Julie, my roommate for the conference knew about! For much of the conference and for the parties and dinners at the end of each day, I was wearing Lavish Dream extensions!

This was my first time wearing them to a BIG social event.  To be honest, they just blended in! They're easy to put on and are fun for changing up one's look. You can go dramatic with cool hairdos (long ponytails, updos, etc) or subtle with just wearing them with your hair down.

I didn't put all the wefts in all the time. Sometimes I just used a few and other times I used all to create more fullness and more body.
Nugglemama and AskMamaMOE et moi at the Benjamin-Moore 50 Shades of Grey Party!
With Whispered Inspirations and Donna Marie Antoniadis, Co-Founder & COO of ShesConnected Multimedia Corp.

When I put my hair up, it looked and felt very natural. Because my hair isn't too long, it was nice to have a little change.

I even wore them for our 80s Party! ThisLilPiglet and I don't always dress like this...just so you know! ;)
I thought I'd have time to take some videos of me doing up my hair, but with all the ambassador duties that weekend, there just wasn't any time at all. Next post! I promise!

Lavish Dream

I have a secret.  I've always been jealous of women with lots of thick, voluminous hair.  Mine is straight, flat, thin, and fine. Even if I spend hours trying to get volume by using product, velcro rollers, big round brushes, and a hairdryer, my hair only ends up flat again within an hour or so. Yes, my friends. I have hair envy.

Hair really does change a person's look and the way a person feels. You know that feeling you get when you step out of a salon? You feel fabulous and invincible! Yes, that feeling. You feel like a million bucks because you look gorgeous. A good haircut and a good style will often do the trick. I don't know about you, but I am sometimes tempted to ask my hairdresser to live with me so she can do my hair for me every day!

I also have to say that since I left my life in the city and moved to the countryside, I feel I don't look or dress the same as I did in the city. Now, going out without make-up is not uncommon. Running errands in town with my hair in a ponytail all the time is also the norm for me. I was starting to feel a bit frumpy. Sure, when you live in the countryside and 'dress up' or wear make-up, people look at you a bit funny. I can't wear my sexy heels or gorgeous boots out because the roads are gravel and I'd probably break my ankle! Plus, where am I going to wear fancy shoes to? The barn?

I was shocked (and excited!) when Lavish Dream asked me to be one of their Lavish Dream Bloggers. The timing couldn't have been more perfect! Yay! I get to reclaim some of my grooming  habits from when I was in the city! I have friends who use extensions and I never knew that they did!

Honestly, you would never ever guess that some of my friends use extensions. It looks just like their own hair! They use them to give volume, length, and to just have more fun with their hairstyles.  A few friends have used funky colours (great if you don't want to dye your hair all different colours) and some use their natural hair colour.
Hair, make-up, accessories, clothing...all fun to play with and change up your look from time to time. The above photos are of me with my mousy, frustrating, uncooperative hair and me with the Lavish Dream hair.
Here's a closer look...
I'm not sure if you can tell, but there is quite a bit more 'body'. I still haven't mastered how to use them and found it a little challenging to place on myself because I couldn't see what I was doing. I think I'm going to get a friend to come over and help me next time.

This is what I received:
This is what the hair looks like. The easy to use clip in hair extensions are made with the finest quality human hair. You choose the shade that is closest to your hair colour. You can create length, fullness, and thickness all the while looking natural.

I have to admit that my first time trying the Lavish Dream hair extensions had me feeling a little nervous.

First impression:
  • The quality is superb
  • The pieces were a little heavier than I had expected them to be
  • Putting them in was not difficult, but it was a bit awkward doing it to my own head of hair when I couldn't really see what I was doing
  • It looks like my own hair
  • The length was a lot longer than I expected
  • Overall experience was great
I'm excited about the look and am hoping to master using them. Thank goodness Lavish Dream instructional videos! Yes, they have online tutorials!

Lavish Dream shows you everything from How To Choose Your Perfect Shade, How To Clip In Lavish Dream Hair Extensions, How To Wash Your Lavish Dream Hair Extensions, How To Blend Lavish Dream Hair Extensions With Your Hair, and more! To view videos, check out their website!

Nickelodeon's Winx Club Fairies {Review & Giveaway}

I have to admit that I'm not a "girly girl". I've never been a pink kinda girl and I'm not about the bling and all things frou-frou shi-shi. This would be why it surprises me that my 3 year old absolutely loves all things pink, pretty, shiny, sparkly, and girly. She's all about the bling. The shinier, the better. She's all about everything pink or purple. Lately, she's been all about fairies and princesses.

You can imagine how excited she was when I was asked to review Nickelodeon's Winx Club fairies!

Winx Club is Nickelodeon's first girl-targeted animated TV show. It's a modern fantasy adventure series that follows six best friends (Bloom, Stella, Flora, Musa, Tecna, and Aisha) as the attend Alfea College, the finest fairy school in all of the realms.

The Winx characters represent today's modern girl and focus on strength, smarts, and teamwork. Each character is smart, savvy, playful, and someone that girls can relate to. I love that the message sent out to young girls is that of self-expression, empowerment, and friendship.

Each fairy has magical powers that help fight villains and save the world from evil.  Each character is an individual and has her own hobbies and personality, yet works well in a team.

Season five of Winx Club will launch in 2012 throughout Canada on YTV and Nickelodeon Canada.

Now, the Winx Club fairies from Nickelodeon's TV show have been made into dolls so that fans can relive their own magical adventures.  Another cool thing is that each doll comes with a magical membership card that unlocks exclusive content on http://www.nick.com/winx.

This brand new line of dolls is unique in that each doll has eleven points of articulation, super deluxe trend-setting outfits and spectacular hinged wings.

They're so new that they will be available in stores this coming Fall!

Experience the world of Winx Club at www.toysrus.ca/winx

Little One was so excited to receive the complete set of Winx Club dolls before they even hit the stores! She's really into role-playing and has been having so much fun with her new fairy friends.

Your little girl can too! How? Well, we're giving away an entire set of 11.5" Deluxe Fashion Winx Club dolls to one very lucky reader of mine!

My Lip Stuff: Review

I always get really dry, cracked lips in during the Winter months.  For this reason, I am constantly on the look out for products that will keep my lips soft and protect them from getting chapped.

I recently received three lip balms from My Lip Stuff for review purposes.

I received:
  • Cherry
  • Eggnog
  • Cinnamon Frosting
With over 600 flavours for kissably soft lips, deciding which ones you would like is a difficult decision. That's why you need to get a few! Do 't worry. These lip savers are very affordable. They are also made with natural ingredients.  I'm a big fan of luscious lip balms and with flavours like cannoli, key lime pie, and orange creamsicle, how could you not fall in love?

My friend, SuperAmazingMommy will probably be interested in the key lime pie, chai, Earl Grey, or Lemon Drop Cookies! Oh...I think I could go for a Tiramisu or Peaches and Cream right now!

Of the three flavours I received, I loved the cherry and eggnog the best. My three year old quickly took possession of the cherry lip balm and applies it liberally (very liberally)! I'm not worried though, since I know the ingredients are natural and safe.

I'm not kidding when I say that I love the way my lips feel when I use the My Lip Stuff products. The product glides on smoothly and leaves your lips feeling moisturized.  It's not greasy or thick. The consistency is just right. I'm a bit fussy when it comes to what I put on my skin. I've got sensitive skin and react to certain products. I am happy to report that My Lip Stuff is great on even the most sensitive skin! I react pretty much instantly to any irritants. None with My Lip Stuff!

You'll also be happy to know that My Lip Stuff is a skin-earth-animal friendly company.
Bye-Bye, dry and chapped lips!  Hello, yummy, kissable, soft smoocheroos!

What Do Housefires and Breast Cancer Have in Common? (Plus, a Giveaway)

Did you know that October is not only Breast Cancer Awareness Month, but Fire Safety Awareness Month as well?

Both are killers and for both, early detection is very important in saving lives.

Many of us have loved ones whose lives have been affected by cancer.  Many of us have had mothers, grandmothers, aunts, cousins, sisters, or friends who have had or are going through breast cancer. The number of strong women in my life who have had breast cancer is alarming. Just recently, three of my friends have been diagnosed with breast cancer.

In Canada, more than 5,000 women and 50 men die of breast cancer each year.  Breast cancer continues to be the most common type of cancer for Canadian women. [Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation]The Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation wants Canadians to make sure they get their routine mammograms and examinations. Prevention is key.

It's Fire Safety Month and First Alert, the leading maker of smoke alarms (as well as carbon monoxide detectors, combination alarms, fire extinguishers, safes, security camera, etc...) wants Canadians to make sure they have their smoke alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and everything they need to prevent, detect, and be safe when it comes to house fires.

Did you know?
71% of structures lost in Ontario fires are residential.
Cooking is the number one cause of household fires in Ontario. Among other causes are smoking, candles and electrical equipment.
8 Canadians die from fires every week. 73% of the fatalities are due to residential fires.

Many of these deaths could be prevented by proper placement and replacement of alarms, carbon monoxide detectors, and fire extinguishers.

First Alert and CBCF have one common and very important message to spread to Canadians. "Early detection saves lives – whether it be a middle-of-the-night fire alarm or a routine mammogram."

Together, the CBCF and First Alert have formed a partnership.

First Alert has developed a line of Canadian Breast Cancer Fire Safety products. You might have seen the Pink ribbon products in stores near you. In this line of First Alert Breast Cancer Fire Safety products are: two smoke alarms, a carbon monoxide alarm and a kitchen fire extinguisher. For each product sold, First Alert will donate $1 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

The proceeds from First Alert pink ribbon products will support the CBCF as it invests in research and community projects to improve and save the lives of Canadians at risk of breast cancer and those living with the disease.

This sounds like a great idea to me. Every household needs several fire safety products, so why not make yours make a difference in the lives of others?

My husband is on the fire department and every year, he and the other firefighters in our township go door-to-door, inspecting people's homes to make sure they have their fire alarms and are protecting their loved ones by being aware of fire prevention. When I told him about this amazing partnership, he thought it was a great idea. Fire Safety Awareness is very important to us (especially now that we have a toddler) and Breast Cancer Awareness is a cause near and dear to us because of the loved ones in our lives who have been affected by the disease.

For more information about the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation, please visit www.cbcf.org.

Remember: First Alert, has developed a new line of pink ribbon fire safety products. Purchase yours and for each First Alert Pink Ribbon fire safety product sold, First Alert will donate $1 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

Mommy Needs a Spa Night!

WARNING: The following post contains links to adult material. You must be 18+.

I don't know about other couples, but as parents to a toddler, down time is hard to come by. I don't even remember the last time Hubby and I had a "date night"! I suppose the last time we went out sans toddler was when we attended a funeral last year. That hardly constitutes a date, in my opinion.

I do know at the end of a hard day, an evening at a spa or an hour at the massage therapist's would be ideal. Sadly, I don't even have time for that! However, EdenFantasys has a great line of products that are great for massage at home!

We've got the Treasure Trove Gift Tin (strawberry flavour) and really like it.
Great way to get that back massage and keep the romance alive. The warming gel works very well! It heats up within seconds. It goes on cool at first, and then the heat intensifies. The contrast is quite remarkable. Another item I love is the honey dust. To be honest, I was quite surprised. I didn't think I would like it, as I don't like products that are messy. Just the thought of "dust", be it honey dust or otherwise, leaves me feeling anxiety filled. Yes, I'm the kind of person who freaks if there's sand or crumbs in the bed. Everybody knows that the bed is no place for sand or crumbs! This is precisely why Hubby and the toddler know there's to be no eating, snacking, or anything in the bedrooms.

Back to the dust! I was pleasantly surprised at how much I liked the dust.I found that the honey dust left my skin feeling really soft and there was only a slight hint of fragrance, which is what I like. I'm not one for strong fragrances or scents, as they give me headaches. This was the perfect amount - just a light hint of sweetness.

Other products worth checking out for those evenings when you just need to relax and unwind are the candles! EdenFantasys has a vast collection of candles ranging from aromatherapy to massage candles!

I'm sure you'll find items of interest on the EdenFantasys website. Whether you're looking for quality products for at home spa/massage nights or something more risqué, I'm sure you'll find what you're looking for. Oh! Since it is October, and Halloween is almost here, you may even be interested in a little dress up evening too! Yes, they've even got Halloween costumes!

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, I thought you'd also be interested in this:

Fun in the Boudoir with Eden Fantasys

WARNING: The following post contains links to adult material. You must be 18+.

Keep the fire burning in your relationship with some fun items from EdenFantasys. Whether you're in the honeymoon stage of your relationship or wish to bring back the smoldering embers into a roaring fire, you'll be certain to find something on the EdenFantasys webpage that will appeal to you and your partner.

What woman doesn't want to feel beautiful and sexy in some pretty lingerie? Babydolls, teddies, corsets, bustiers, and gowns from EdenFantasys will make any gal feel her finest. C'mon...every girl wants a little something sexy in her closet! I'm not talking about having Eric Northman in your closet. I'm talking something to wear that's sensual, alluring, silky, or maybe lacy?

Set the mood for a romantic soiree with some candles and scented oils (among other items!) available at EdenFantasys. There are so many fun and exciting products to try out, from tame to the wild and risqué!

I have to admit that this is the first time I have ever written a post for anything of this nature. I don't know what happened, but as soon as I became a mom, I became more guarded about the things I say or divulge. It's not that I'm a prude or anything. There are just some things I feel uncomfortable about discussing since Little One now has very big ears and repeats everything! Plus, what happens in the boudoir stays in the boudoir. Right? Ha! Ha! I don't actually use the word "boudoir" when I speak about sexy things.

When the opportunity to write this post for EdenFantasys presented itself, I figured it was a great chance to reclaim that part of me that wasn't just "Mom".

As I perused the website, I came across the Party Favors and Gags. This brought back memories of bachelorette/stagette parties for friends (back in the day!). What a hoot! Oh, boy! There are items there that are sure to make my 91 year old grandma blush!

You can also earn free products through the EdenPoints Program at EdenFantasys. Points will be awarded by rating a product, adding products to your wish list, adding items to compare, writing a review, etc...

This might spice up your love life...unless you're already too hot to handle!

Pssssst! You can also get a FREE GIFT with any order!

Disclosure: I am also receiving a Gift Certificate to use from Eden Fantasys in exchange for a review of my opinion. The opinions expressed on this blog are my own.

Designs by Dani GIVEAWAY!!!

Pretty Princess Parties and MORE!

A friend of mine sent me a message, telling me to join a particular Facebook page today. I get a zillion and one Facebook notices, that *gasp* I usually don't even bother looking at them. I know, I know. I'm terrible!

However, seeing that my toddler is a pretty princess/tutu/ballerina kinda gal, I just had to check out the site! Oh, okay...I've also got a thing for pretty, frou-frou, ooooh la la kind of things for my toddler. Those of you who know me, know that I used to dislike hate everything pink, frilly, and girlie...

...Then I had a daughter and my whole world changed. Now, I can't get enough frou-frou things!

Crazy how life changes when you have kids! Truth be told, I think I subconsciously seek out all things girlie for my little girl because countless strangers have approached me at the grocery store, mall, etc...asking "How old is he?" Not wanting my child to grow up with everyone thinking she's a he, I try to dress her up in pink and the most girlie kind of outfits imaginable. Yes, even with ribbons in her hair and EARRINGS in her ears, people still ask if she's a boy! Argh.

Pretty Princess Birthday Parties is much more than just birthday parties! You can find a wide array of pretty tutus, hair accessories, Kufi hats, leg warmers, and more!
Pretty Princess is holding a Free Valentine's Giveaway! To help advertise the new business, Pretty Princess will be giving out a Valentine Package to 5 lucky winners! A Grand Prize winner will also be chosen. The Grand Prize includes a tutu, matching hair piece and Valentine's cards! All you have to do is spread the word about this new business. Help Pretty Princess reach 500 members by February 1, 2011! It's easy! Just post this link to your Facebook and/or invite your friends to join the group.

If winning an awesome prize from Pretty Princess isn't amazing enough, her friend  @ Pretty Poppies
has some good news for you too! Pretty Poppies has a consignment shop with tons of new and gently used items!! Join her page and get it up to 500 and the grand prize winner of Pretty Princess' contest will also get a pair of Valentine leg warmers!! Sooooo cute!!!!!!

We just love helping new businesses grow. We also love it even more if they're new Canadian Mom businesses! Go ahead and check out Pretty Princess! Don't forget to tell everyone about them!
