Only on the Island

A few weeks ago, when one of my friends from the UK was here, I lost my camera case. We were off touring the Island, doing touristy things and when I pulled over on the side of the road for him to take photos, my camera case must have fallen out of the car.

Now, I know it's silly to get upset over losing something material. A camera case is just a camera case. Life goes on. However, I'm the type of person who likes to know where everything is. It really annoys me if I lose things. We backtracked and checked out all the places we had been to that day. We went to the Bridal Veil Falls, the Manitoulin Chocolate Works, a few places in Mindemoya and stopped at several spots on HWY 542 to take photos of the glorious Fall colours. We couldn't find my camera case. My poor digital camera would be naked and open to scratches and fingerprints until I got a new case.

Did I mention how I hate having to buy something to replace something I've lost? I find it such a waste of money and oftentimes as soon as I've bought a replacement for something lost, the something lost happens to miraculously turn up!

Off we went on our mini road trip. K, British Lion, Student and I went to Toronto-Kingston-Ottawa-Montreal and while we were there, I happened to pick up a new case. A few days into our trip, Hubby called my cell phone to tell me some amazing news. My camera case had been located and had been turned in to my mother-in-law to give to me! I had my Science North membership card in there with my name on it, a $20 bill, and a piece of paper with phone numbers and addresses of friends I was going to meet up with in Montreal.

The people who found the camera case knew that I was J McBlahBlah's wife and gave the camera case to my mother-in-law. Shocking! I'm still in shock that my camera case found its way back to me. I love that values like honesty, trust, and goodwill still exist!

How amazing is that???

Thank you to the kind people who found my camera case and who were so kind to return it. As soon as I find out who you are, I will be sending you a proper Thank You card!
Oh, and what did I do with my new camera case? Mom got an early birthday present! LOL!

Wow! That was worth losing the camera case in the first place! I mean.......to find that kind of honesty in a stranger.
That's a great post C.
Who carries $20 in their camera case or a " Science North membership card" for that matter?!!!LOL!!!!!
I'm liking your NaBloPoMo!!!!!

Hahaha, now I get down here to post a comment and the word verification is a mile long. I'll just hit publish and see if it gives me a shorter one? yep...went from 8 letters to 5!
Of course it took me longer to type this addition to comment than the extra 3 letters, but you knew I was anal like that!!!!Tehehe!

I checked out that thing on your sidebar to see how much my blog is worth. I was pleasantly surprized to find it worth $7,339.02.
I thought I would be in debt with like minus $7K or something?

LOL! I know! WHO on earth carries $20 and a membership card in their camera case, eh? I don't know. I'm weird! I have no idea why I do the things I do sometimes!

Wow! Your blog is worth a lot! Must be those cute doggies of yours! :)

its' amazing that there are people out there who do the right thing still. even if it was just your camera case they had it in them to take the time to get it back to you . some people would've just left it or take the $20 and leave the case aside. nice for you to live in a place that honesty and values is still important.

chris please don't correct my spelling and grammer- oh and i'm not using caps because i'm to lazy today! lolololllll

That does restore my faith in humanity. It's nice stories like this that really make my day; something little but just the fact that someone took the time.
Nice story. Oh, I can see why you would carry that stuff in your camera case... just in case ;)
Reminds me of the time Ian used his GO KART photo card as picture ID to get on a plane!!

My coworker was in the twin towers on September 11, 2001. She got out in plenty of time, but someone was helping her by carrying her laptop for her, and in the confusion and crowds, they got seperated. Her laptop had no identifying information attached. She figured it was lost, and she didn't care, because heck, there was a LOT going on that day, right?

The next day, she heard a knock on the door of the hotel she was at in New Jersey...it was the man, who SOMEHOW had tracked her down, and was returning her laptop to her.

Amazing, the kindness of strangers, even in a big city like NY, even with so many pressing things going on.
