Blog Facelift

I was over at Starshine's blog and fell in love with her new blog template. For quite some time now, I have been contemplating a new look for the blog. I've become quite bored with the look and wanted to spruce things up a bit. I told you blogging was addictive! If I'm not reading blogs, replying to comments, commenting, researching, I'm looking for new ways to play with HTML codes and such. Errrrr...Uhhhh...That's when I'm not teaching, working, helping Hubby on the farm or anything! ;)

I have to admit that I was a little bit apprehensive at first. You see, I tried before to change my template and ended up losing everything! All that hard work with links, layouts, fonts, etc...all gone. Unless you've spent lots of time labouring over HTML codes and all things related to your blog, I don't know if you'd realize just how frustrating it is to have to start from scratch! *sigh* All those links I've acquired in the past three years...down the drain (or better yet, lost in cyber space)! GAHHHHHHHHHH! Can I tell you how upset I was?

Anyway, Starshine introduced her readers to The Cutest Blog on the Block. Thank you, Starshine! The Cutest Blog on the Block has lots and lots of blog templates and backgrounds to choose from. Not only is it super easy (especially for those technically challenged like myself), it's free!

Saying goodbye to the old look wasn't that easy. The old look was simple, clean, and fresh. It kind of grew on me. However, I'm the type of person who needs to change the looks of things a bit every now and then. I change our furniture around so often, I think Hubby thinks I'm a bit nuts!

What do you think of the new blog look? Now that I know how to change my blog template (to something that is not a generic Blogger template), let's see how long it takes me before I change it again! ;)

How fun! So glad you liked Cutest Blog on the Block.

Yea, HTML code stuff can be tricky. I'm glad you figured out how to make it work. The new look is fresh and it's always fun to make it look more like "you". :)

I'm totally addicted to blogging, as well. It's a wonderful community.

C,

I can't find a link to your e-mail address on this site, and I'm hesitant to leave my info in a comment. Still, I'm so curious to know what my consolation prize is... :)

Hot Mommy:
Awww! Thanks!
Great catching up with you this evening. Hope your hubby had a great time with the kids today. It was nice that he gave you a little break :) Did he make supper for you too??? Now, that would have been the icing on the cake, eh? ;)

Uncivil:
Tee hee! Thanks, Jimbo! It was fun playing around with the look of the blog. Maybe next time I'll be more daring. I like change, but not drastic change! LOL! ;)

Did you find the culprit yet? I wonder who the baby chick thief is?

Thank you! Thank you very much! :) Yes, blue has always been my favourite colour. I was even tempted to use one of the other backgrounds, but it was bright pink!!! The design was really nice, but you know me! I'm not a pink kinda gal! There's one more background that I really like. Hubby and I both thought it was a bit dark for me though. It was like a chocolate brown and had these neat vines around the border. Oh, well. Blue it is!

On the contrary! I'm actually HORRIBLE at computer stuff! I have been teaching myself how to do things and have worked on my own work website. I'm impressed with that, as I had to do all the HTML stuff on my own. There's a great sense of accomplishment when you can see the result of all your hard work. I'm really no good at all those codes and such. I sometimes have to call Baby Bro so he can help me. Now, that kid is a genius when it comes to building websites and doing all sorts of neat tricks with the computer!

Baby Bro studied website design in his computer class in high school. When I was in school, our computer class entailed learning how to turn a computer on, using the DOS system! We had those huge floppy disks and the computer screens were black with either amber or green letters and symbols. My, how times have changed!!!

Hey, thanks for the shout. I am going to have to check out some of these blogs you visit...when I have time.

Also wanted to add...yes, my friend, I have more than once come back from a hectic farm day and found laundry on the line still to bring in...that blog post of yours made me laugh! I could SO relate!

I like it. I remember playing with html too. What a trial and error nightmare! I got what I wanted out of it in the end though.

C, this looks awesome!!!! I really need to switch mine up a bit but if you think you're old at it, imagine me... OMG, I don't think I did a report on a computer for school until the year I graduated university!!! I am TERRIFIED to touch anything that isn't straight off the shelf.

And blogging, it is so addictive isn't it... the more I read and see the different amazing design ideas out there, the more bored I get with my own look too.

I should also check this out ... great tip from Starshine!

That is too funny! Your new look is great! I love the natural paper edge on your border! Water is the in pic now, too I hear~~
I just logged in this morning after being gone for a week and decided to change my pic and colors. I chose a sailboat.

Oh, I know how crazy things can get sometimes :) Sometimes life gets in the way of blogging, doesn't it? LOL!

Mrs.Mogul:
Thanks! I agree. Blue is really relaxing. I was just putting my laundry away and realized that almost everything I own is blue! Cerulean blue, aqua, indigo, turquoise...
At least it beats my former all-black wardrobe! My students told me to add colour to my attire. They said I was the crypt keeper! LOL! I like black though! It's classy and timeless!

Calf Keeper:
Thank you very much, Rebecca! The thing I love about reading your blog is that I can sooooooooo relate to your posts! It makes me laugh sometimes because a lot of what you mention is what I go through on a daily basis too. I know the dairy is VERY different from the type of farm we operate, but the everyday events are a things I can relate to.

Speaking of which, I need to take my laundry off the clothesline now! LOL! *sigh* I just got in from weeding the garden and totally forgot about the laundry. Can you believe it's nearly 8PM and it's still really bright out???

VE:
LOL! I totally hear ya!

Karen:
LOL! Your comment totally cracked me up! I sometimes feel so far behind the rest of the world when it comes to being computer savvy!
Let me tell ya, when I originally changed my template and lost EVERYTHING, I was swearing like crazy! I think I even almost cried! All that hard work down the drain!!!
When I realized that ALL my links and codes were gone, I was sweating as I tried to retrieve everything. Note to self: Always back up your original template and codes!!! Just in case! That said, do you think I did that the second time around? LOL!!! Nope.

Shannon:
I really like your new look! The blue is very soothing! Can you tell I love blue?? :)

LOVE the new template. ;-)

Rachie:
Thanks, Rach! XOXO

P.S. It was super easy to do...the second time around!! ;) The first time, I lost EVERYTHING! When I realized what I did wrong, it was a piece of cake. I may change it again when I get bored of it! At least now I know how! LOL!
