Exciting New Discoveries
It hit me the other day that my baby is seven months old. SEVEN months old! She's over half a year old! Where have all the months gone? What just happened? It's almost as if I blinked once and all of a sudden she's half a year old!
Those first two months of her life spent in the NICU (at Mount Sinai Hospital) seem so distant in my memory. Sometimes it doesn't even feel like we were in Toronto at all. Distant memories. My reality back then was a lot different from the one I know now.
To be honest, it sometimes makes me feel sad. I know I should be happy and treasure all these wonderful moments with her. It's just that I wish she could stay a baby for longer. Oh, don't get me wrong. I love watching her discover the world around her and become more self-aware. I love all the funny things she does and I love how she gets this shocked expression on her face sometimes when she's surprised and then starts to laugh like crazy. I love that.
It's just that soon she will beall over the place always on the go and non-stop into everything very mobile. I just want to savour each moment I have with her as a baby right now. Is that terribly wrong of me?
Our Little One just discovered her feet today. It's the funniest thing ever to see the look of amazement in her eyes. "Whoa!! What are these?! I've got feet?!?!"
She makes me laugh, our Little One. Whenever she hears the voice on the GPS prompting us to turn, she always gets startled...and then laughs like crazy! It's so funny to see and hear her do that...Every single time. She kind of jumps, her eyes get really big, she looks for where the sound is coming from, and then she smiles and laughs. She also laughs whenever she hears the phone ring too. Such a funny baby!
The photo of Little One playing with her feet was taken this afternoon. She seems thoroughly pleased with herself. Now diaper changes have become really interesting with her rolling over AND wanting to play with her feet all the time!
Yes, I am the type of mom who lets her baby go around au naturel when we're at home. She seems happy to be garment-free and without her diaper on, she gets to "air out" a bit during the day! ;)

City girl moves to the country, falls in love, and marries a farmer. She tries to incorporate her city ways with her new country lifestyle and blogs to keep in touch with friends, family & students who live far, far away :) Can this city girl go country? Watch as she learns all sorts of exciting things about life on the farm and in a small rural community. *UPDATE* We are now parents! Our baby girl was born on Nov. 11, 2008 (at 28 weeks gestation- 12 weeks premature, but she's quite the trooper)!!!

I can't believe how fast the months have gone either. Thanks so much for sharing her with us from those scary first moments to now.
She is adorable C.
I've certainly enjoyed watching her grow via the internet.
It's quieter that way!!!LOL
You know I couldn't make a comment without being uncivil!!!!!LOL
Me thinks she might grow up to be a famous movie star one day?
Jan:
I know. Pretty crazy, isn't it? I'm so glad I blogged about the pregnancy, her early arrival, her time in the NICU...
If I were to write a journal about it now, I'd probably forget all the little details. Thank goodness for the blog :)
Jimmy:
:) You're sweet...and that was funny! ;) It IS quieter from a distance, isn't it? xo
Oh, C, she's so CUTE! Really an adorable baby!
call me when ur passing thru toronto on your way to kingston tomorrow! are u driving around or taking the ferry? details sistahhhh
I've known people who let their babies go around naked for awhile, and have always admired them for their risk-taking abilities. ;)
I remember when you were in the hospital with her, or traveling to and from the hospital to your relatives' house, and how exhausting and stressful that was for you. I'm so glad you're on the other side of it now, and just enjoying having such a strong, healthy baby!
I think it's easier to air out a little girl. Hope you can save your entries for her kids to look at.
Now there's a thought, your grandkids may look at these posts one day.
Happy 7 months Little One!
I know just what you mean about wanting her to stay a baby but enjoying watching her grow and develop. I feel the same way.
Tracy:
Thank you so much! You are so sweet! :)

I text messaged you. Sorry we didn't have time to stop by! We made great time from the Island to just outside of Toronto. As soon as we hit Toronto, we were stuck in traffic for TWO HOURS!!! As soon as we got past Oshawa, it was easy sailing up to Kingston.
We ended up stopping in Barrie on the way home today though. It was a whirlwind trip. Drove down to K-town on Friday, stayed for the baptism and party on Saturday and headed back home today.
J:
I'm so glad I blogged about all of those times you just listed in your comment. It all seems so surreal and so foreign to me right now, but back then it was my reality. I sometimes still cannot believe that we actually went through all of that! I remember at times I never thought I'd survive...or have the strength to go through it all without Hubby being with us for those two months!
Jeanna:
I was actually just thinking of that the other day...about airing out girls and airing out boys. I don't have a boy, but I imagine airing them out may lead to some "waterfalls" or "spraying" of things! Then again, I've seen Little One let out some waterfalls herself a few times! It shocks me, because I didn't know little girls could do that!!! I mean, talk about range!
Jinxy:
Thank you :) You always understand what I mean and how I feel!
