thinking about...

...how little Chance was when he was a baby. I used to be able to hold him in the palm of my hand. Now he's 65 lbs! I know to a non-pet owner that it may seem ridiculously odd that a person would dote over an animal the way one would over a human baby. I was just thinking that Chance will be 5 years old in October and he has been one of the only 'constants' in my life before I got married. He protected me, kept me company, knew when I was upset...and never argued with me. LOL! Even if I was crabby or in a foul mood, he was always there.

It's funny how a person can get so attached to an animal. Honestly, when the time comes for Chance to have to enter doggy heaven, I don't think I'll ever be able to have another dog. Getting attached, caring for, and having that companionship...and then having to let it go. My heart is just too frail for that. I don't think I would be able to go through it more than once.

I know...I sound so melodramatic. LOL!

You are so right. I grew up with a dog who still holds a very special place in my heart even though he passed away 5 years ago. He was like a brother to me and no other dog could ever replace him. But I really want to have a dog to experience that unconditional love and companionship again... Soon, very soon!

I totally hear ya, sistah! We have a dog- had it before we had the kids even. He's a member of the family and totally watches over the kids. it's so amazing to see how protective he is over them.

See, from the moment I found your blog, I KNEW I liked you! :)

I am definitely NOT one of those people who you have to explain this to! I love my doggies as much as I love my own flesh and blood... to me, they ARE my flesh and blood. I would do anything for them.

Chance is just too adorable! That puppy picture makes me melt! Both of my doggies are 5 now... the time does fly, doesn't it?

It's always great to hear about the other "doggy people" who love and spoil their dogs!!

Cute picture of Chance when he was a puppy. I always wanted a white pup since I was little. Maybe it's about time I get one. I need a companion who won't argue with me all the time (LOL).

Girlie, I really love my puppy. He's just so funny and cracks me up all the time. When co-workers would bring out all their photos of their kids, I'd pull out photos from my wallet of Chance's first bath, his first swim in the lake...LOL!

AHMM, yes, yours is so cute and soooooo good with your kids!

doggy mama: :) Yes, time does fly and it's hard to believe Chance is almost 5 years old! It kind of makes me sad. I don't want him to get older!! LOL!

Mist, yeah, I know. I never thought I'd be this kind of person! LOL!

Diesel, he is are really nice doggy. He's a bit toooo friendly. We're trying to teach him to be a better guard dog! LOL!

Sentimental: Yes, it is nice to have someone around who won't argue! LOL! Though, Hubby never argues with me. He always has the last word though...and it's always "Yes, dear!" LOL! :)

oh i remember Chance with his huge fluffy body and those blue eyes. He was the size of my stuffed toys! SOO SWEET AND ADORABLE!
I feel the same way about my kitties. They are so special to me and could never get rid of them and dread the day i have to make a decision about what to do with them if they get sick etc...

Hey Dina!
Yeah, I remember when he was so little and so fuzzy. He always did the funniest things. He's just so goofy. He's still really funny and playful. I am sooooo dreading the day that he gets old or sick...I know it'll break my heart if anything happens to him.

I've had friends who have had to put pets down because of age, injury or illness. I don't know why I've been thinking of this lately, but I know when the time comes, I'm going to be a wreck! Anyway, I should just not think about it for now. He's still just a young doggy...
