Cowboys are HAWT!!!

Image from Google Images

Just visualize this:

Tanned skin, rugged good looks peeking from underneath that cowboy hat, and a strong, firm, tight body...
I never really understood the appeal of cowboys until this past weekend. It was my first time at a rodeo event. Coming from the city, this is not something I'd normally get to experience. I've seen rodeos on TV and in movies, but I had never been to one before. I had a great time! Oh my goodness! Cowboys are HAWT!!! There's just something so earthy and so appealing about cowboys!I went with some friends and my Mom and family from Montreal. My gal pal, Super Girl just loves the rodeo and all things country. I'm so glad I went with her, because it was a truly eye opening experience. Here are some photos of our day at the Rodeo in Wiky on the weekend. What interested me the most was that contrary to my ideas of what rodeos were about (I just thought they were silly daredevil acts that cowboys and cowgirls did for kicks), but there really is a lot of talent, practice and technique involved. Many of the events are taken from chores that used to be necessary on the ranch. Take for cattle roping, for example. Before, in order to brand cattle, they used to have to rope the cattle to do so. The cattle roping event at the rodeo is based on this. I found it interesting how even the horses are trained to help the rider rope the calves. The horse actually pulls backward once the calf is roped so that the rope is taut.
Of course, no rodeo is without a rodeo clown! If you've been reading this blog for a while, you'll know how terrified I am of clowns! They just freak me out!

While songs like this one played,

we got to see amazing events like barrel racing, bull riding, and calf roping. It takes a good rider to participate in events like those! It also takes a good horse to be able to do what the rider wants him/her to do. For the bull riding, I have no idea how no one got injured that day! If you think about how heavy and how powerful a bull is, it's amazing that none of the riders got trampled! You've got to have serious cojones to ride a bull! That is CRAZY!
In the above photo, this young cowboy nearly got thrown off his horse. I can't remember how many seconds he lasted before he finally fell off.
Mom and the gang got to eat lunch at the rodeo. Unfortunately, food and I are still enemies. As much as I would have LOVED to have a bite of Mom's Indian Taco, I just couldn't stomach eating anything at all. I was feeling a little left out with everyone sampling all that yummy food and sipping on lemonade! Boo hooo!On our way back to our vehicle, my uncle was saying he wanted to go to Hubby's barn and ride the bull! Ummm...Somehow, I don't think that would have been a good idea! I don't think the bull would have enjoyed that very much! ;)Since we don't have fast food chains on the Island like KFC, McDonald's, or Wendy's (not even Tim Horton's!), my family from out of town wanted to check out Wikwemikong's "Wiktucky Fried Chicken" on the way home. Unfortunately for them, it was closed for the day.

I've got to hand it to cowboys. Anybody that would race a one ton animal with the brain of a walnut all the while straddling hard leather has to either be stooopid or have some big (well, you know).

I've only been to a rodeo once in Fort Worth. It was good fun, but I was so afraid of seeing some of the gory stuff you see on TV. Far more a fan of barrel racing then I am of bronco or bull riding.

Bummer about the continuing food battle. The one thing I look forward to the most about travel or going to any sort of event is the splurging on the food!

hope you're getting to enjoy this time with your mom!

Ahhhh! No Indian Taco? That's a major bummer. Don't feel too discouraged; your appetite will come back. There were 9 girls pregnant at once were I work and some of them were really sick for a while, but after a bit they got their hunger back and ability to keep food down. Keep strong mommy!

I haven't been to a rodeo since I was a kid!! Super fun :) I'm with you on the clowns. Don't like them AT ALL.

Ooooh! I had the biggest crush on the Marlboro Man when I was a kid. Cowboys are sexy, aren't they?

T:
Well, I don't know if I'm a "cowboy kinda gal", but I do know how to appreciate fine works of art! ;) Some of the specimens we viewed on the weekend were breathtaking.

I'm with you! I really enjoyed the barrel racing. I thought that was a true test in skill and agility (for both the riders and the horses). The bull riding on the other hand...I was cringing the entire time. I had to look away a few times because I was really freaked out about seeing the rider getting thrown off the bull and ending up beneath it...miraculously avoiding being trampled!

BLS:
9 pregnant girls at work?! WOW! That is crazy! Lots of hormones in the office right now!

I was kinda bummed because I would have LOVED to have some of that Indian Taco!!! GAH! Maybe in a few weeks? LOL!

Yeah, I've NEVER liked clowns. My fear of clowns stems from early childhood. The birthday parties with clowns always freaked me out. There just seems to be something so menacing and evil behind all that make-up! I think I watched too many horror movies as a kid too and that didn't help! LOL!

I'd rather get in the ring with Mike Tyson than try to ride a bull!
In the ring, you can always fall down like you're knocked out and it's over!
Somehow, I don't believe that ole bull would let me play possum!!!!

Cowgirls are pretty hot too!!!!

Uncivil said...

Oh, and cowgirls on mechanical bulls are way Hawt!!!!!!!!!

LOL! Too funny! :) The cowgirls were pretty impressive too! They were really good at the barrel racing!

Why is it that I had a feeling you were going to say something about cowgirls and mechanical bulls? ;) LOL!
