A "Productive" Day...Sort Of
I was just thinking about how things might be like right now if I had taken on ESL students while Little One is still so young. Initially, I was going to start back up when Little One turned seven or eight months old chronological/four or five months old corrected age. What was I thinking?!?
SHEPHERD'S PIE RECIPE
1 lb ground beef
I can barely hold things together as it is. Imagine adding a few ESL students to the equation? The teaching part wouldn't be so stressful, but the balancing baby and having students boarding with us, taking them on field trips and having them with us 24-7 would be a bit much to juggle right now. At the moment, we've got a summer student with us and he is fantastic! Hubby, Little One and I will be sad when The Student leaves us at the end of this month.
This is what my day looked like today:
-Wake up, feed baby, change diaper
-Make Hubby's and The Student's lunches
-Do another load of laundry (Yay! That's three out of six loads done)
-Fold laundry from yesterday's batch
-Throw out compost
-Try to weed the garden, but did not accomplish much at all
-Go for a walk with Chance, but did not get too far. He tried to jump on the baby. He's a friendly dog, but he's a jumper.
-Try to finish writing two articles. Deadline for both is next week.
-Do dishes
-Feed baby and change diaper
-Run errands in town
-Pick up a few groceries
-Grab something quick to eat for lunch at the Deli department (notice how I forgot had no time to eat breakfast?)
-Rush home
-Feed baby, change diaper
-Put away groceries
-Fold laundry and do yet another load
-Pump breast milk 
Ha! I told you it was a "productive" day! ;) Okay, that's not really that funny. It's been a while since I've pumped 12 oz in 15 minutes though. Before Little One started on her crazy non-stop eating binge the other week, I was pumping around 8 oz in 15 minutes. Okay, TMI???
-Give baby bath
-Start preparing supper
-Feed baby and change diaper

-Hang out with E! It's her birthday today!!! Happy Birthday, E! :)
-Supper with E, Hubby, The Student (and Little One, watching us eat from her bouncy chair)
-Leave dishes in sink, as we had a birthday cake and ice cream do afterward (E's Mom makes THE BEST birthday cake!)
Needless to say, the laundry has been folded but has not been put away.
I did not get to help Hubby with splitting and piling fire wood.
I did not get to help Hubby with any of his work at all.
My kitchen floor has yet to be vacuumed and mopped.
The dishes from supper are still in the sink and will get washed as soon as I'm done this post.
There's more laundry to get done (again) since Little One is the Queen of Spit Up. Oh, and I tried cloth diapers on her again this afternoon and it did not pan out well at all. She's almost 10 lbs, but she's not a chubby baby. The cloth diapers still don't fit her too well yet and it was very messy. I'm talkin' pee-all-over-the-place messy! She wasn't very happy. Little One will hates being dirty.
For E's birthday supper, I made Chicken Cordon Bleu, oven baked fries, steamed broccoli and stuffed cucumbers. 
Maybe I should call it "Lazy Wo/Man's Chicken Cordon Bleu". 
You're supposed to suture the chicken with thread and then after it's cooked you untie it. I bypassed that step because I was too lazy too busy pressed for time. It turned out just as yummy, but not as pretty as I normally make it.

Things kind of got crazy busy, as it normally does here on the farm and I never got to call her. Turns out I just missed her phone call when I was running errands. Great minds think alike!
She called to do some catching up and see how things are going. She's got twin girls (four months old) and a two year old. She's one busy Mama too! She also asked for my Shepherd's Pie recipe and my Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. Several people have asked me for both recipes, so I'm just going to post them on the blog. Funny! I just made Shepherd's Pie the other night and was going to post the recipe then. As usual, things came up and I never got around to blogging that day.
SHEPHERD'S PIE RECIPE
1 lb ground beef
1 onion, diced
garlic (minced and however much you want)
1 can cream corn
1 can corn (kernels/nibblets)
6-8 potatoes
salt/black pepper
a little oil
butter and milk for mashed potato topping
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
In a large skillet/pan/wok, add a little oil and saute onions and garlic. Brown ground beef. Once browned, add both types of corn.
Wash and peel potatoes and boil them as you would to make mashed potatoes. Once cooked, add milk, butter, salt, black pepper and mash.
In a rectangular casserole dish, layer the beef and corn mixture. Over top, add the mashed potato mixture.
Bake in oven for 35-40 minutes. Enjoy!
This is an adaptation of my Mom's recipe. Her Shepherd's Pie always tastes better than mine. I guess everything tastes better if someone else is cooking!
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE RECIPE
1/2 c. butter
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 c. brown sugar, lightly packed
1/2 c. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. flour
1 1/2 c. milk choc. chips
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cream together butter, egg, vanilla, brown and white sugar. Mix in salt, baking soda, flour and choc. chips. Spoon mixture onto cookie sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes. I bake mine for 11 mins. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
Oh! I may have mentioned that Little One has been trying to roll over for some time now. She's done it a few times, but each time was mostly by fluke. Today, she did it several times and it looked as though she did it on purpose! Mind you, each time she rolled, she looked rather surprised (or scared)! Well, she's sort of rolling! She rolls (or as I refer to it as "flops") from her tummy to her back, but she can't get from her back to her tummy. Goodness! Does this mark the end of my days of not having to worry about her being mobile? *sigh* I'm sure when she starts crawling, I'll reeeeeally miss these days! ;) She is four months old corrected today (she'll be 7 months old chronological next week).

We do baby 5 all the time too. I thought I was the only one, glad to see I'm in good company.
Oh my that is some milk production. No wonder LO is growing so much. When I get a chance to pump I get about 1/2 ounce in 30 minutes. I'm jealous.

Tee hee! Baby 5! I have another video of me giving LO a baby 5, but I was making some kind of weird "Tsssssssss...yeahhhhh" noise when I did it. Embarrassing.
As for the milk production, I used to pump every 3 hrs but have gone down to one pumping a day. I just don't have the time for it. We've finally run out of milk in the freezer that I had pumped in her first three months of life. That was six months worth of milk that finally got used up.

tc rolled for a few weeks, then went straight to cruising and then walking. she was 10 months old. she hardly ever crawled.
you are a wonder woman, making all that good food and balancing laundry, cleaning, taking care of the baby, etc!
btw, i'm set to watch little ashes tomorrow with one of my gbf's and another friend! cocktails & appetizers @ the gbf's place, then the movie and then dinner next door...woo hoo!

Yay! Have fun with the grandies! Let me know how the chocolate chip cookies turn out! It's a super easy recipe and it is sooooooooo yummy! When my niece was over for supper, I baked the chocolate chip cookies and we put vanilla ice cream between them and made ice cream sandwiches!!! Fun (and delicious...and very bad for the waistline)! ;p
