I Don't Want to Blink
...because it feels like I just blinked and all of a sudden my baby girl is almost a year old! Little One turned ten months old today. TEN MONTHS OLD! That's almost a year old!The above photo was taken this morning. It's her ten month photo with Moo! Remember how tiny she was in her first photo with Moo?
She was three months old here, but was supposed to be a newborn since she was born three months early. No photos with Moo were taken for her first two months because she was in an incubator in the NICU for the first two months of her life.I was on Facebook with some of the other moms who had preemies in the NICU while Little One was there. We all bonded while our babies were in the hospital. Quite frankly, I am so glad we became close because we helped each other through some pretty rocky ups and downs. In hindsight, what I went through with Little One was almost nothing compared to what some other parents had to go through with their little ones. Little One needed no major medical interventions or anything like that. It was just the not knowing what was going to happen from one day to the next that was the most stressful.
Anyway, some of the moms and I were saying how amazing it is that ten months ago we were so scared and so worried every day that we were in the NICU and now our babies are doing so great!
For Little One's ten month "monthaversary" I took her on the "Big Canoe".
We took the Chi-Cheemaun ferry across to Tobermory and spent the day there. We had family from Montreal with us, as well as Little One's grandparents (Lola and Grampy).Here's Little One with my mom (Lola/Grandma). Is it funny that people we met thought that my mom was my sister!?!?! I didn't think it was funny. People always think we're sisters and cannot believe that she's old enough to have a daughter my age, let alone grandchildren!
We walked around Tobermory, 
checked out some of the cool shops,
and had fish and chips at Shipwreck's.
Shipwreck's is a pirate themed seafood restaurant, famous for their all you can eat fish and chips. The decor is...well, pirate-like and the servers are all decked out in pirate attire. The wait staff is very friendly and the service is pretty good.As far as cleanliness goes, it's not horrible. Don't let the looks of the place mislead you. The food is actually good. If you're not a fish and chips kind of person, there are other options you can choose from. They've got chicken and ribs and other entrees and appetizers.
If course, most people who go to Shipwreck's are there for the fish and chips. The prices are VERY reasonable. All you can eat fish and chips start at $9.99, depending on what kind of fish you order. There's Alaskan Whitefish, Haddock, and Georgian Bay Whitefish (I think).
I can't eat that much fish and chips, so I ordered the shrimp. The shrimp was butterflied and coated with a crispy batter and then fried. I was feeling a bit guilty about the artery clogging lunch, so it's a good thing we walked around "the Tub" for the rest of the afternoon!
Little One amazed everyone she met because she was so well behaved. 
She was pretty much all smiles and laughs all day. Boy, was she ever chatty! I have to admit, I am pretty lucky that she's an easy-going baby. She's pretty happy and doesn't fuss too much. She doesn't nap during the day, but at least she sleeps through the night.Of course, we had to bring something back for Hubby since he was working hard all day! We picked these up at The Sweet Shop in the Little Tub Harbour.
I was going to get some of these for Canine Cologne, but wasn't sure if she would think I was giving her raw hide or something. Hubby is a fan of beef jerky and really enjoyed these.The chocolate covered almonds were very chocolaty. They were pretty rich. Two or three of these would suffice.
I'm not a fan of fudge, but thought Hubby would like this Cookies 'n Cream fudge. I've always found fudge to be too sweet and decadent. Just thinking of fudge makes my teeth hurt. I know I won't be touching it, so Hubby can enjoy it all to himself.

What a lovely day you had! And gosh, Little One is sure growing up fast, isn't she? Such a blessing. And the fact that she's sleeping well and so happy must mean that she's not teething at the moment. Yay to that!
I'm not a big fish and chips fan either, but those shrimp look good. :)
My favorite fudge is my mom's recipe, which wasn't hers...just the one on the chocolate chip bag. But mmmmm. Good. But I only want one small piece, with a big glass of milk.

Looks like a wonderful time was had by all. Can't wait to see Little One again soon, she looks so much bigger then she was in August.
We went to Tobermory and the Bruce Peninsula a few summers ago on our way to visit you. Had a blast checking out the flower pot island and the glass bottom boat tour's shipwrecks- the Sweet Shop and Marco Polo are my favorite shops there. This post amkes me want to go back for anothier visit!

Hi, just stopping by via Robert's blog. Your baby is adorable! We have a grandson that is 22 months, and I cannot believe how fast they grow. Thank you for taking us along on the tour and fish and chips - which I adore!

She sure is growing fast, isn't she? Seems like in the first few weeks of her life, it felt like we'd never get out of the NICU. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel, but it seemed so far away. I honestly thought we'd be in the hospital forever. Now she's here...and keeping me VERY busy! LOL! :)
Have you made your mom's fudge? Is it just plain chocolate fudge? I find it funny how I'm not much of a fudge fan, but I'll eat chocolate fudge brownies. Weird, eh? I don't know if it's because I think straight fudge is just too sweet? If it's part of another recipe (like brownies), I can have a little bit. I'm such a weirdo! LOL!

yum yum fish n chips! i would love to take our kids on the boat and for a trip like that but as you know they are little hellions ! for real. they are a handfula nd do not behave in public..or at home! they';d just reak havoc on the boat and restaurants and shops. lucky for you you can take her traveling she is such a good baby.

OH I COULD JUST CRY!!!!!! To think how close I could have been if we were at the in laws cottage..whine whine whine!! Tobermory is great, we went there on our honeymoon! I know..how romantic!! And the Sweet Shop...yummy!!! Glad you had such a ncie day!
