Spreading the Canadian Beef Luv #LoveCDNBeef

Many of you know that I'm a beef farmer's wife. Farming hasn't always been a part of my life.  I'm a city girl gone country. Okay, trying to go country. Before I met my husband, I had no idea that only cows are female and that the group of animals is called cattle! I thought "a cow is a cow"!  Oh, no. There are heifers, steers, bulls, and bull calves too. I had no idea what "first cut" and "second cut" referred to. I didn't even know the difference between a baler and a swather! I had absolutely no idea how hard farming was or what dedication it took to successfully run a farm.

I now live on a working beef farm and can honestly say that there is never a dull moment on the farm!

Naturally, Canadian Beef is an organization that my family aligns ourselves with because they handle marketing and promotion of the Canadian cattle and  beef  industry worldwide. Canadian Beef strives to maximize demand for Canadian beef and optimize the value of Canadian beef products. In essence, the organization looks out for the 83,000 proud beef ranchers and farmers across Canada. They represent farming families like ours. We're regular, every day people who work hard to feed others.

Last year, a beautiful relationship came to fruition between Canadian Beef and Life on Manitoulin. It happened rather organically. It started with a tweet, and the rest is history...or more like 'just the beginning'! I became a regular guest blogger on the Beef Blog, where I wrote about life on the farm and shared favourite beef recipes.

Earlier this year, I was selected as one of ten Brand Ambassadors for Canadian Beef.  The news was so exciting, it made me just a tad emotional. Why? Because Canadian Beef is very close to our hearts as it touches my family's lives on a daily basis. Spreading the word about Canadian beef is very important to us. Farming is my husband's bread and butter. To be given the opportunity to be a Canadian Beef Ambassador is so great. It just seems like a natural fit!

If you haven't already visited Canadian Beef, head over and check it out. I absolutely love the site! There are so many interesting blog posts to read on the Beef Blog and tons of amazing and delicious beef recipes to try out.  If I had to choose my favourite section, it would have to be a toss up between the Health & Nutrition section and the Recipes section.

The Health & Nutrition section has information on things like choosing the right cut, eating smart, protein and weight loss, etc.

I love cooking, coming up with new recipes, trying new recipes, and just enjoying a good meal with loved ones. Okay, I love throwing dinner parties! It's no surprise that the recipes section is what I go to each time I visit the Canadian Beef site. Let's face it. We have a lot of beef at our  house. We eat a balanced diet of vegetables, fruit, grains, fish, poultry, pork, and beef. This said, Hubby is a farm boy and loves his meat. Though we have the family favourites I whip up in the kitchen (beef and broccoli, Korean Bulgogi, Shepherd's Pie, lasagne, roasts, stews, etc) I do like to experiment and try new things.

Let me tell you, there are so many beef recipes I want to try from the Canadian Beef site! Vietnamese Flank Steak with Noodle Salad is one of them!

Another exciting feature on the site? COOKING LESSONS! Now you can watch, learn, and cook! They show you how to do everything from grilling and barbecue roasting to broiling and stewing/braising!

I hope you will join me as I try out new beef recipes and give you the scoop on all things beef! I have a feeling that my time as a Canadian Beef Ambassador is going to be one exciting adventure!

Disclosure: I am a Canadian Beef Ambassador and have been compensated for this post. However, all opinions expressed are my own and have not been influenced in any way by my association with the program.

Congratulations on the appointment, they made an excellent choice!

I absolutely LOVE beef and always have (even during my stint as a vegetarian...). My Uncle is a beef farmer as well and people don't realize all the hard work that goes into what we see on our tables. Kind of like blogging.

Thanks for highlighting all the greatness that is beef!

Seems we have a lot in common, except I'm the country girl who moved to the city! But my heart will always be back on the farm and beef is such a big part of that!
