10 Random Weird Facts About Me

Conne tagged me via e-mail on this one. Of course, I couldn't say no to a good meme! :)

1) Coffee has an adverse effect on me. This is horrible, because I love the smell and taste of coffee! Coffee actually puts me to sleep (within minutes)!!! I discovered I had this disorder when I was in college. There is only a small percentage of people in the world who have this problem.

2) I can go from obsessive compulsive-like behaviour to totally laid back. There are days when I can be totally anal about everything being in order and freak out if all the labels on the cans in the kitchen cupboard are not facing the same direction...and days when I couldn't give a hoot if there's laundry on the bedroom floor or papers and mail scattered on the dining room table. It's not often though...since it irritates me when there are papers and other things on the table. I suppose it bugs Hubby that I don't like to have anything on the table when it is not being used for dining.

3) I can write with both my right and left hand.

4) I can't sleep with my feet covered. It's weird. I usually end up kicking the covers off so my feet aren't covered. I could never ever sleep with socks on either!

5) I check my e-mail every day (Uhh...for work purposes! Yeah. That's it!)

6) I like opera, jazz, alternative, classical, rock, glam rock, reggae, reggaeton, calypso, steel band, R&B, hip hop, punk, country, pop, top 40's hits, oldies (30's, 40's, 50's, 60's, as well as 70's, 80's, 90's), new age, disco, folk, instrumental, techno and dance music.

7) I'm allergic to cheap jewelry. Okay, let me rectify that statement. I'm allergic to certain metals. I need to wear only 100% sterling silver or 100% gold earrings...or else my ears will get infected and fester and fall off. Now, you don't want that to happen to me, do you?

8) Green apples make my lips swell. Yes, there's something about the skin/peel of the green apple that makes my mouth burn, itch and swell like a platypus! I love the taste of green apple though. I have to really wash and peel the apple if I want to eat it. For some reason, if I touch the peel with my hands, it's okay...but I can't eat the peel. My brothers used to love seeing how long it would take before my lips begin to swell and I look like a duck.

9) I've got a very acute sense of smell. In other words, it doesn't take much in the way of offensive smells to make me gag and dry heave. It's really sad and embarrassing. I just cannot control the instant gag reflexes. I have a weak stomach.

10) I take the whole 'reduce, reuse, recycle' thing very seriously. I even reuse the plastic milk bags after the milk's been emptied. I wash the bags and dry them, and use them to put our garden produce in and freeze them for future use. The plastic milk bags are really strong and raspberries, corn, broccoli and other produce freeze really nicely in them. Just secure them with a twist tie...or better yet, one of those tabs from the bread bags (if you buy your bread). I sometimes buy our bread if I don't have time to bake our own. I just keep all the tabs so I can use them for something in the future (like tying plastic bags for freezing food)!

Now that you know these 10 random, weird facts about me, I will redeem myself by leaving you with pics of my adorable nephew. It's just so amazing to see how much he has changed in but a few weeks! These are his 6 wks pics. When I was in K-town to see him, he was 2 wks old.Kenny and my grandma. Wow! Look how big the kid is getting! Too cute!! I know...I am soooooooo biased because I'm his auntie. I know I'm biased!

AAAAAAAAH! He is SO cute! He's getting really BIG too! I love the double chin action he's got going. What a cute baby!

So coffee still makes you fall asleep eh? I remember SEEING the effects of coffee on you! TOO funny! Ya and the green apple thing not so funny! I was scared FOR you the one time I saw what happens when you eat green apples (with the skin on). I'm glad you discovered you had a food sensitivity and youre aware of it now. SCAREY!

Alighty then. I should get back to work before I get fired!

Yes, he is a cutie, isn't he? I tried to take him home with me when I left K-town, but my brother and his wife wouldn't let me! LOL!

I cannot believe how big Kenny's getting. He's starting to look more like my brother now. Amazing how babies change so much when they're growing! He looks different every time I see him!

Yep, coffee still does that to me. The problem is I love coffee! The only good thing about this affliction is that if I can't sleep, I drink coffee and I'm out like a light within minutes!!

Oh, and I just remembered yet another random and weird fact about myself! Whenever I drink something, I always cover the glass, cup, mug or bottle if I walk away from my drink for a bit. I am paranoid of having dust, cat hair or bugs go into my drink. I don't know why I am so paranoid about this! I really noticed it when I was in San Jose and there were flies on the beach. I covered my drink with a napkin so nothing would go in it.

You didn't tag me, but here are my 10:

1) My husband says I sometimes sleep with my eyes open.

2) I can blow a bubble within a bubble, but only if I'm chewing HubbaBubba bubblegum! It HAS TO be HubbaBubba or it doesn't work!

3) I can do any yoga pose - you wouldn't believe how I can contort my body!

4) I can put my contacts on in one go, without fussing with them.

5) I like liver and onions.

6) I play the banjo.

7) I have been told I look like Sharon Stone did when she was younger (like when she was in Basic Instinct).

8) I sometimes let my kids do whatever they want when I'm too exhausted to discipline them. I know I suck but they really tire me out sometimes.

9) I don't like it when any food on my plate (like corn or chicken) touches my mashed potatoes. Keep the mashed potatoes free of all other foods, baby!

10) I don't know how to reset that stupid flashing light on our VCR. Yes we still have a VCR! We do have a DVD player too.

Lawdy Chrissy!

You are gonna wish you hadn't got me started.

First off....a big shout out to Kenny and Granny. He's a cutie and Granny is lookin good too!

Here's my 10

1. I love sweetened iced tea. It's the drink of choice down here in the south. If you want unsweetened tea, you tell your server in advance, or they will just assume you like your's sweetened like everybody else.

2. I'm a time freak. I like everything to be on time. I don't like to wait.

3.I shoot pool right handed, but will, and can shoot left handed if the cueball is to hard to get to in the right hand position.

4. And just like you Chrissy , I can't sleep with my feet covered or with socks on, unless I'm just passed out drunk!LOL!

5. I check my email every frikkin day too! (2 email accounts)and a couple more that i check on a weekly or monthly basis. I also check my blog for comments, and your's and ms.mamma's, and the list goes on and on.

6. I like lots of different kinds of music, but I despise most rap music. The punks that ride around with their boomcar stereos blasting and making everything in your house vibrate really pisses me off! You might read about me on the news one day!

7. I used to be a physical fitness freak. I was into martial arts class 2 days a week, at the boxing center the other 3 days, running in 5K and 10k events, areobics.
Had a back injury in 2001, surgery in 2002. Now I just can't seem to get my lazy arse away from this computer!LOL

8. I'm not a tree hugger. I don't believe man is the cause of Global warming. I love to listen to talk radio. Especially Neal Boortz "The High Priest of the Church of the Painful Truth"!

9. Sometimes I think I like my dogs more than life its self. I love animals of all kinds.

10. I'm a meat and potatoes kind of guy, but I would eat a lot less meat if I had to kill and dress an animal. I would become a fisherman!LOL!

Ten and a half.
Oh! I'm still thinking about those contorted yoga poses hotmommy was talking about! Let me go check my blood pressure!

My apologies to Miss Moneypenny. I did not intend for you to feel badly.

Here are my 10.
1) I am a bloody wanker. I really need to be nicer to people sometimes.

2) I like all things Japanese.

3) I drink too much.

4) I haven't cooked a meal since I've lived in Japan.

5) I used to have a great partner but she left me because I am a wanker.

6) I don't like George Bush.

7) I never read instructions that come with products that require assembly.

8) I drink my coffee without anything added to it. Why spoil a perfectly good coffee?

9) I miss English food. I really miss me bangers and mash.

10) I have been told I bear a striking resemblance to David Beckham. I do not see the resemblance. People have also said I look like some American singer- Nick Carter or something. He's supposed to be one of those American boy band singers. Do you know who he is?

Can you write with your right and left hand simultaneously? Now that would be impressive.

And if you could juggle chainsaws at the same time.

Waaaah? Milk BAGS? Excuse the Yank, you guys buy milk in bags???

Pretty cool, probably a lot less plastic. Is it recyclable?

Waaahh? You guys buy milk in bags???

Cool though, probably less plastic waste. Is it also recyclable?

You are not alone with the coffee! I get a little perk at first but can easily fall asleep in a few minutes after a cup, or sadder still sometimes I nod off on the couch with my warm cup in my hand.

You're hilarious! I don't blame you for sometimes just letting loose and not wanting to have to deal with disciplinary action. Remember the time you woke up from a snooze and there were crayon and marker drawings all over your living room wall?? LOL! :) Cute kids. Gotta love 'em!

uncivil:
Thanks! :) BTW, love the list! I'm a time freak too! I get really antsy and anxious when I have to be somewhere. I always make sure I'm early. I also hate it when people make me wait for them. LOL! It's weird, because I'm pretty laid back for most things. I just don't like it when I have to wait for people! LOL! Like, NEVER make me wait for you for 30 mins or an hour when we agreed to meet up at a certain time. ;)

Pete:
I hear ya on the not cooking part. When I worked in Japan, I think I cooked 9 times in the whole 2 years I was there. The work hours were LONG and by the time I was done work, I didn't want to cook. I always went out with friends, co-workers, and students after work. Eating out actually turned out to be cheaper for me. Groceries were pretty expensive over there.

Diesel:
LOL! You crack me up! Nah...I tried to write with both hands simultaneously before. I can't do it. My brain just won't let me! It doesn't seem to want me to process anything that requires multi-tasking. It also won't let me juggle chainsaws :( I don't even know how to operate a chainsaw! LOL! I suppose that's why Hubby operates the chainsaw and I have to pile the firewood! LOL!

You mean, you guys don't buy milk in plastic bags? They come in three 1 L bags. The plastic bags are unfortunately not recyclable, but I reuse them. I wash them and use them as freezer bags or to put our mail in if it rains. The mail lady picks up and drops off our mail in our mailbox at the top of our laneway. We're in the country...remember? :) LOL! I used to buy milk in the cartons, but with the plastic bags, you get more. I think the last time I had milk in the plastic jug was when I was a kid and living in the city. I've been getting milk in the plastic bags for years now. How do you get your milk over where you are? In jugs? Cartons?

Beach Mama:
Oh, thank goodness! I was beginning to worry! I haven't met anyone yet who has the same condition as I do (falling asleep because of coffee). Tests have been done and extensive research, and the only thing that could probably be the reason is the caffeine. The weird part is that I drink tea (and tea has caffeine). It's something about the caffeine in hot coffee that makes me sleepy! Iced Cappuccinos at Tim Hortons don't make me sleepy. I can drink cold beverages with caffeine and hot tea, but not coffee. Strange, eh?

Kenny is just adorable! He's got HUGE eyes, and your grandma looks great too! Great genes, great lineage!
I am so impressed with your recycling efforts - how innovative you are! I would have never have thought to use the old milk bags for the freezer - what a perfect application. We just started the "green" bin here, which is great because they're taking all of the G-girls diapers, all the food scraps etc. So we have recycling picked up weekly and garbage only on alternates. Our actual garbage is very little now - we could probably even go to 3 weeks without a pickup. I know it's a small thing, but a step in the right direction. I get kudos from hubby as to how neatly I tie up our cardboard and papers, and stack it for pickup. Hey, I'll take the compliments where I can get them!

Oh the cheeks! Look at those cheeks!

Those EYES! He's so cute...

YOu're not bias on this one.

Our milk mostly comes in plastic jugs or paper/wax cartons. I'm torn though, I usually buy my milk from a dairy that uses glass bottles, which they reuse, then recycle when no longer safe to use.

But I'm thinking about switching to raw milk, which is only available, in my area, in plastic jugs. They're recyclable, but can't plastic only be recycle once? A dilemma...

Oh, Christine, he is just adorable!! He is really getting big! I love how they start growing out of that newborn look start getting those chubby cheeks!! Your grandma looks great, by the way!

Oh, and that was fun meme to read! I, too, check my email often. And when I was younger I would practice writing with my left hand ALL THE TIME. I got pretty good at it, but it still always felt strange! :)

Hahhaa... if I have too much coffee... it give me heartaches. And if I carry on drinking... I the pain goes so bad that I couldn't sleep. Hehehe... I guess it is a torturing way to stay awake.

Then again like u.. the smell and taste... ooo makes me wanna torture myself :D

Karen:
Thanks! My grandmother's in her 80s now and she is doing well for the most part (with the exception of a bad hip). Little Kenny's not so little anymore! LOL! He's so cute!

T:
I know, eh? :) Aren't they just so squishy? LOL!

CK:
Yes! He has BIG eyes, eh? I guess that's not from the Chinese side of the family! LOL! My brother's eyes were like that too when he was a babe. I guess it might be the filipino side...or my sister-in-law's (but she has blue eyes, so Kenny got the eye color from Bobby).

Another meme??? Kimmy was teasing me last week and said I was meme crazy!! Okay, I'll do it sometime this week :)

Udderly Delicious:
Wow! That's a cool idea. If you do end up switching to raw milk, let me know how you like it. Hubby's family used to have dairy cows way back in the day and my mother-in-law used to make her own butter and yogourt...and they had fresh milk all the time. Now they have beef cattle.

I think you're right about the plastic jugs only being able to be recycled once. I'm not sure though. Could you use the jugs for other things? I know it sounds so ghetto, but how about a bird feeder, planter, container for other things? LOL! I dunno...

Doggy Mama:
Hey, girlfriend! How's Audrey's newest bambino doing? You're so lucky you're able to see your nephews whenever you want. I live soooooo far away from Kenny! Oh, and my brother and his wife! LOL! I suppose it's not all about the baby all the time! ;) I get to see Kenny in a few weeks for his Baptism! Can't wait!

Velverse:
Thank you for popping by again! I hear ya on the coffee thing! I just loooove the smell and taste...even if I know it'll put me to sleep! If you want to know how to knock me out, Bailey's Irish Cream and coffee!! LOL! This is why I never went on coffee dates when I was dating! If I did go out for coffee with a date, I made sure I had hot chocolate or something other than coffee!
For me, coffee would probably have the same effect as Rohypnol!!!

Conne tagged me with this one, too, but I haven't gotten around to it, yet - that's coz I've got about five other memes going on! See, this is what I mean by Karma, Chrissy... I teased you about being meme-crazy, but look at me now. Sheeeeesh.

BTW, is your granny in the pic the same one who inadvertently praised you for having a taboo tattoo, but who also lamented at how the said tat was "unladylike"? I absolutely loved her for saying that!
