9:40 AM

It's Sunday morning and it's a gorgeous day. Hubby and I were up at 7 and working by 7:30. He went off to plant grain and I had a load of laundry going. I was hoping to go over my music again this morning (the Island Singers concert is tomorrow night. Hope to see some of you there!). I was out back, hanging laundry, thinking how beautiful the day is and how everything looks so gorgeous and green! The sky is a gorgeous shade of blue and there's a gently breeze. I love how the wind makes the blades of grass sway. Chance was on his back with all four legs up in the air and his tongue hanging out of his mouth. He is such a crazy dog. I don't know why he likes sleeping on his back with all fours in the air when he's outside.

All of a sudden, Chance jumps up and runs off, barking like crazy. Something was up, because the dog hardly ever barks. Selective barking, perhaps? I thought he saw an animal or maybe one of the kittens escaped from the house again. I ignored him. As I continued to hang our laundry to dry, I looked over and there was a horse in our field! I don't think it hit me until a few seconds after! I looked over again and this time there were FOUR horses in our back field! Only in the country, can you hang your laundry on the line and be graced with the presence of horses trotting in your backyard! LOL!

Hubby was off somewhere planting grain, so I couldn't get him. I figured I'd call the neighbour's and let them know that their horses were at our place. I didn't have to call them because they were already on their way. I'm just so glad that the horses went into our field (where it's all fenced in) rather than hang out on the highway.

The neighbours and their two kids were all up and rounding up the horses. They brought over their three wheeler and all hopped on. My friend (the wife/mom) called back to me as they sped off, "Beverly Hillbillies, Chris!!" LOL! Too funny! I love that family! What an interesting and exciting way to begin a Sunday morning!

Now THAT'S cool. I remember the time I was staying in West Jersey near Philadelphia... I was up at dawn when I saw three does and deers in the backyard... it's so magical.

Tee hee! I know! Crazy! It felt like I was in a dream. I didn't realize what was happening at first! LOL!

Yes, isn't it magical when you see deer in the morning? You should come over and see ours! In the Spring, we always have about 20 something deer in our field. We watch them in the morning when we eat breakfast and in the evening when it's supper time. They are such beautiful animals. I always feel so lucky that I get to see and experience this kind of stuff. In one of my earlier posts, I mentioned that we counted 27 (yes, TWENTY-SEVEN) deer in our back field! They were eating and just chillin' out there! The young ones were running around and playing. Beautiful, beautiful animals!

OK...next time you see Chance in that pose....we want pics!!!!!

That would have been a great shot!

and, "27 deer"! That is so cool.

more pics?

I have actually walked home from the local redneck bar down the street at 3:00 am in the morning and saw 3 or 4 deer behind the parking lot of the local bank eating grass.

They usually scamper off into the wooded lot beside my place when I walk by. One night, they just ignored me. So, I went inside and grabbed the dog leashes and brought Abigail and Emily out to see them. They scampered rather quickly then.

Wild deer!....The best neighbors anyone could have!

I'm working on getting that pic for you! Right now Chance is running around the barn, chasing an animal, I presume!

Sounds just heavenly. Horses - amazing, and I love the sight of deer - something so peaceful. There's a herd not too far from us in this wooded area owned by U of T. Unfortunately it's located right in the middle of subdivisions (houses built right around, including mine, unfortunately). We can see them if we're out early enough, they come out to feed.
I'm afraid it'll probably be sold to developers soon though. And people around there complain about them eating their plants. Big party poopers!
