I MUST Be Nuts!!!

Why? Because I could have slept in yesterday, but since Hubby was up and out for work at almost 6 in the morning, I decided to get out of bed too. Ridiculous, since the baby doesn't get up until 9AM!

What does one get accomplished at such an early hour? One does laundry, cleans the kitchen, pays bills, cleans the living room and dining room, and bakes three dozen cookies...of course!
We had supper at a friend's house the other night and after supper, she served a tray of cookies, squares, and butter tarts. *groan* I think we all gained 30 lbs in just one evening! Anyway, there were these AMAZING chocolate peanut butter-filled cookies sitting on the tray in front of me. They were THE MOST DELICIOUS cookies EVER!

I savoured each and every morsel of the cookie and tried to mentally dissect it so I could reproduce it when I got home. I'm a freak like that. I'll go somewhere and if I really love something I've tried, I try to reproduce it in my own kitchen. It's a challenge sometimes, but it's something I enjoy doing. It's fun trying to see if I get the recipe right!

I'm not sure if you can see in the photo above, but there's one cookie that I cut in half so you can see the peanut butter filling.

I baked chocolate peanut butter-filled cookies and chocolate chip cookies. I made some for a pregnant friend of mine and I'll be bringing some to a friend's dinner party tonight, along with a salad to accompany the leg of lamb she's making. I've never had lamb before. I've been told it's good, but I can't get my mind to separate Mary Had a Little Lamb from the actual dish. *sigh* I'm such a weirdo sometimes. For this very same reason, I can't eat rabbit (I think of Thumper from Bambi)and I can't eat deer (Hello!? Bambi!!). I even have to mentally prepare myself when I eat chicken, fish, pork, beef...or any "meat". It's a struggle I face every time I eat. I know it sounds crazy. I guess this is why I was vegetarian for over seven years! The thought of meat grosses me out. I know. I've got some serious issues! I gag just thinking about flesh, blood, tendons, fat, gristle...GAH! I'd better stop now! Funny how I ended up marrying a beef farmer! Gah!

gah those cookies look DEVINE!! I may have to make them for a cookie exchange i take part in every year!
and i do that too before eating certain meat. I couldn't eat lamb ever UNTIL i tried it. It is really tastey-as long as it's cooked right.
AND i also go downstair to cook/clean/bake etc when i can't sleep. I've been known to cook a weeks worth of meals at 3 in the morning. Not so much anymore as i am back to work but when i was on mat leave.

Oh, I hope you love the lamb! SO yummy.

I suspect Maya will be a vegetarian when she grows up. She feels the same way you do about meat.

Can I possibly have the recipe for those cookies? They look splendid and I'm determined to also reproduce them! I'm taking a stab at fudge this weekend, or better known as sucre a la creme! Next I'll be up to my elbows in truffles! I've found like 6 new recipes to try!

I did have to mentally prepare myself, but the lamb was really good! The way my friend made it was delicious! I didn't expect it to taste that way.

I seriously think I have major issues sometimes. I don't know why it's so hard for me to get my mind off of the grossness of meat. I don't know if I ever blogged about being vegetarian from the age of 17 to 24. I was vegetarian for 7 years (Lacto-Ovo) but got really sick even though I made sure I was eating properly. The thing was, I became anemic and I also needed to get B-12 injections from the doctor all the time. It came to the point where my hair started falling out in clumps! I slowly started eating fish again when I was working in Japan. When I returned to Canada, I began eating chicken again. Now I'm married to a beef farmer. Go figure!

It's so hard for me to EAT because I feel so grossed out by meat. I'll eat it now, but every once in a while I'll get really repulsed. I don't know how to get over the idea of meat. *sigh* Weird, eh?

For sure! Want me to send you the recipe via FB or e-mail?

FB is fine for the recipe! Thanks
As for the repulsion of meat, it makes sense but you can't make yourself sick right?!

those cookies look so freaking delicious! geez! now, i'm hungry.

i totally understand associating cute little thumper and bambi with meat. i've reduced myself to chicken and i still have issues with eating the chicken even though it's only every once in a blue moon. it's hard to disassociate cute sweet pets and food.
