I'm Such a Spazz!

The eve if Little One's first birthday party left me feeling somewhat anxiety ridden. All the prep work had to be done. There was the cutting of vegetables, the wrapping of wontons, and so many other things that needed to get done.

You see, our family celebrates with food. It's part of the culture. Food = family + friends + celebration.

Last night, I began to panic. This is a one year old's birthday party. There will be lots of kids at the party. Lots of kids = lots of germs. I know. I'm a weirdo. I began to worry that kids may come even if they're sick. Quite a few of the kids invited have coughs and runny noses. I didn't want people sharing their cold/flu with everyone else. Then there's the worry of H1N1. Big social gatherings are the ideal settings for spreading illnesses.

I thought of canceling the whole thing, but so much work has been put into organizing the party. Plus, turning one is a big thing and after all the things Little One went through being born so prematurely, we have a lot to celebrate. Let's just hope that if people are sick, they won't come. Isn't that an awful thing to think?

No, I think you are smart. I don't want to sound like a germaphobic but we would all be healthier if people who are sick would just STAY HOME even if they might miss something.

I'm sure all will be fine. Perhaps you could have some antibacterial sanitizer containers around. Hopefully the family and friends invited know you well enough to stay home with their children if they are sick. I hope you have a blast at the party.

Peace!
