Born Again
It's hard to believe that Little One was supposed to be born right about now. I'm sometimes in disbelief that she arrived two months early! The fact that she was born at 28 weeks and 2 days and is healthy and thriving really amazes me. Really, there could have been so many health issues and complications. Little One is a fighter though, and she continues to show us that she is full of surprises.
I deliberated for a long time on whether or not I would ever post her "first minutes of life" photos. When I look at those photos of her first minutes of life, it makes me want to cry. I think of what a scary time it was. What was supposed to be the happiest moment of our life was a whirlwind of emotions...mostly fear and worry. How we ever survived those challenging weeks at the hospital just amazes me.
Truthfully, the photos look scary with her being "intubated" in the first 24 hrs of her life. She went on CPAP room-air right after though. For some reason, I always knew that Little One would come out just perfectly fine though. Deep in my heart I knew that she was a survivor.
Anyway, this blog is about me being open and honest and this photo is who Little One was and it shows what she had to go through. Plus, should this blog still be around when Little One is older, I would like her to know exactly what she went through just to be with her Mommy and Daddy. She's come a long way in two and a half months.
I guess today she would be sort of her "born again" day. She is now considered a newborn and when we go to the doctor, we use her "corrected age".
Here's a photo of her at her first visit with our family doctor. She slept through the entire visit.

All wrapped up. My little burrito!
Just one last photo because the expression on her face here just cracks me up!

City girl moves to the country, falls in love, and marries a farmer. She tries to incorporate her city ways with her new country lifestyle and blogs to keep in touch with friends, family & students who live far, far away :) Can this city girl go country? Watch as she learns all sorts of exciting things about life on the farm and in a small rural community. *UPDATE* We are now parents! Our baby girl was born on Nov. 11, 2008 (at 28 weeks gestation- 12 weeks premature, but she's quite the trooper)!!!

Tears in my eyes too - she is so very precious c
She's very beautiful and so tiny. We had fat heavy babies...8lbs 8oz and 9lbs 9 ounces. We never got to use all the baby stuff we were given because they were so big. Enjoy every moment!
I love seeing how much she has changed and grown.
Once a fighter always a fighter.
I still like to say that I'm late to everything because I was born a month late (I had a vanishing twin and they decided that the extra time would do me good).
So glad all is going well and she continues to grow and chub up.
You sleeping and taking time for yourself now?
She is getting so big and healthy, I'm so happy for you guys.
She can even make an old curmudgeon like me smile!!!!
She's so sweet and beautiful! And every time I think of you all FINALLY being home together, I breathe a sigh of relief. I'm so happy for you all.
She is precious, Chrissy!
Oh she is just so precious! She has really grown up hasn't she :)
I am just so happy for all of you. Wishing her a happy "born again" day to you all.
Thanks everyone! :)
My little burrito is doing well. I have been really lucky with her being a good eater and sleeper...but she's in the midst of a growth spurt and has been cluster feeding for the past 3 days.
I will hop on over to everyone's blogs asap. Never knew I'd miss blogging so much!! I also never knew I'd ever feel so tired! LOL! I wonder what it's going to be like when she starts teething???
she's so sweet. scrumptious, even! so glad you are home and happy! xo
