I am such a needy, needy person.
At least I can admit it!
I've come to the realization that I absolutely, positively hate being away from my husband. In fact, I honestly and truly need my husband. Of course, I realized this a long time ago. We are never away from each other for more than a few days (when I am visiting family and friends in Toronto or Montreal, taking students on field trips all over Ontario and Quebec...or when he's traveling for something work related or attending conferences off-island). Junior and I made it another week. 27 weeks and 4 days, baby! Our first week on hospital bed rest at Mt. Sinai went by faster than I thought it would. Thank you to my friends and family who have come by to visit and keep me company. You are the best! Thanks also to my bloggy friends! You've made the days go by faster as well! Canine, I hope you're not sick of me yet! ;)
I wasn't going to post any hospital photos, because I look really icky. Hubby was pretty tired too from the driving back and forth to visit Junior and yours truly. Don't you just love the sexy hospital gown? :) It gets better! I've been prescribed some compression stockings! Nice, eh? Though I have absolutely no signs of swelling, this is precautionary since pregnant women on bed rest can get blood clots. Blood clots = no good, hence the stockings. Oh, how sexy will I look dressed in a hospital gown and compression stockings!?!?!
1. The cervix is already effaced.
2. Baby has turned in head down position (though I realize he or she can flip around still, but for the most part, he or she has stayed in the head down position for a while now). Does this mean Baby is getting "ready"?
3. In the past two days (and sorry if I'm grossing you guys out with TMI) I've noticed mucus. Icky. I freaked out in the bathroom, thinking I had lost my mucus plug! Again, sorry for totally grossing you guys out! ;p
Ummm...Signs of labour there!? Scary! I just hope that if I do go into early labour, Hubby will be able to make it in time for the birth of our first baby. Remember, the Island is 6 hours by car from Toronto!
Anyway, like Fancy Pantsy was telling me when she visited me the other day, "Just take things one day and one week at a time". Of course, with all of these things happening way earlier than they are supposed to, naturally I feel a bit scared and overwhelmed. Okay, "a bit" would be an understatement. I'm scared out of my mind. My only consolation is that Junior is healthy, strong and developing well and I am in one of the best places in the world for dealing with high risk pregnancies like the one I have.
Apart from my husband, I also need...a nail clipper! Not to sound gross, but my talons need some filing down! Seriously, it's quite disturbing. I would love a pedicure! Hubby, if you're reading this, could you please bring me a nail clipper when you come visit us next? Thanks! ;p

Wow, I am never the first to post on your blog, do I get some sort of award for that or something?? Well, you guys are just so cute!! I think you look great!!! And so does Junior!! And wow, what can I say about the stockings.....you know I think they are the sort of in thing right now, so you are just one of the coolest momma's in there!!!
I am glad that you are still hanging in there....and hoping John is there when Junior makes his or her grand appearance.
Thinking of you today!
Ellie
That would be a funny picture indeed in the gown and those stockings. I echo the sentiment of not wanting to be away from hubby but why would we get married and then want to be away anyway(smile). Your pregnancy is going to finish well by God's grace. Have a wonderful weekend.
Oh by the way, I need help in choosing a new profile picture. Could you come on over to my blog and vote on the ones I put up in the post? Thanks in advance.
Ellie:
WOW! To be honest, I was surprised that you were first today too! LOL! I thought Hubby was going to comment, but when I saw your profile pic and name, I was so happy! You're up early! Wait...you're an hour ahead, right?
Thank you soooooooooooo much for that unexpected phone call the other day! You really brightened up my day! It was such a pleasant surprise! I had a lot of fun chatting with you!
I'm hopping over to yours in a bit! XO
Fruitful Vine:
First off, sorry for being such a delinquent bloggy friend! I have been meaning to head over to yours for ages now. I'll pop on over after I post this comment :)
HAHA! I did entertain the thought of a hospital gown & compression stockings photo to post on the blog! That would be so funny. Emarrassing, but funny! Hey, I guess humour in situations like these can help sometimes :)
You are right. Two of the nurses (at different occasions) told me that my "pregnancy is going to finish well by God's grace". They kept telling me to just have faith. The baby is fine. They reminded me that though my cervix is effaced, I haven't had contractions and my water hasn't broken and that those are all good signs still.
Okay, I'm off to see you now!
It is so hard to be away from your hubby. It's not quite the same, but when hubby worked out of town for a year, and I only saw him every second weekend, it was very hard. I missed him so much. I would imagine with the constant worry, it must be very rough for you. I sooo wish I lived closer! I'll try to call you soon again, although a crazy weekedn is planned!
Just yesterday I was wondering how your toes were doing. Is that creepy? Yea, it is. I was thinking of J rubbing lotion on her mom's feet and trimming her nails when she was in the hospital, and Eric rubbed lotion on my feet when I was in the hospital, but no one is rubbing lotion on your feet :-( I knew I was going in so I had trimmed my nails really short.
Oh and just think of the stockings as fashionable leggings or tights. And the gown as a babydoll. ya!
I think that picture of you and Hubby is adorable.
Rosie:
Hubby called...and he's coming this afternoon! The sucky part is that he has to leave tomorrow :( I only get one night with my Hubby! Booooo hoooo! :(
BTW, my word verification is: stressur! Funny!
Cherry:
Wow! That's creepy and kind of psychic! I suppose it does make sense that if a person is not moving for lengthy periods of time then they can get cramping and blood clots. I haven't experienced that and my blood circulation seems to be fine. I guess they're just playing it safe though :)
Ha! Thank you for being so positive! I like that! LOL!
Now, since Hubby will be here for the night, maybe I can get him to rub lotion on my feet! :)
Cherry:
Oh, I don't think my husband will like that I posted that photo! LOL! He says he looks scruffy! That's from not having any sleep, driving all over the province to get to me, from worrying AND not having time to shave! I wuv him :)
hi!! I was looking for some info on Island happenings, and came across your blog... I'm really enjoying it! I am so sad for you that your hubby is here and you are in TO.. I can't even imagine!! I have A 3 mo girl, and we spend a lot of time at home in Manitowaning... I have a fab idea of something to occupy some time for you... are you on fb? or what is your email? I'm not too familiar with blogging :)
-J
J:
Hi! You're in Manitowaning? Wow! You know, I know only a handful of people on the Island with young children and was worried about not having a group I can network with. In Toronto there are all sorts of Mommy and baby groups, but I'm not sure about on the Island. I know there's the Toy Library though. I was hoping to meet up with other Island moms. I think it would be great for when the baby arrives to have some sort of social network.
I am on FB and you can also reach me at cg (underscore) lee 121875 (at) hotmail dot com.
You might be starting a new fashion trend ;) Glad to hear all is well. I hope baby stays safe and warm for a few more weeks!
Yea, I hear there's a good Mommy and baby program on Wed's in Mindemoya.. I haven't been there yet though. I added you on fb, so we can connect there!!
-J
I have always wanted to know someone who looks awfully sexy in a hospital gown and compression stockings. My life is complete. :)
You are wonderful!!! TMI and all. lol.
and my captcha today is...sculth. reminds me of skulk, which is one of my favorite words.
Dignity gets left at the door when we enter hospital!
Sounds like you are doing well - another week is to be proud of.
I wish I could visit you.
Congrats on making it another week. I am so glad.
Hon, nevermind about grossing anyone out. You have every right to talk about the gory details. And to add my own gross-ness; you haven't seen a real mucus plug until you've seen a COW'S mucus plug! (Which I am sure you have, ha!)
Shannon:
Thanks for thinking of us :) The start of a new fashion trend...who would have though!? ;) I'm off to your site now.
BTW, the word verification is: reptor! LOL! Reminds me of "raptor"
J:
Oh, cool! If you go to the one in Mindemoya, let me know how you like it. I won't be there for a while! ;)
BTW, the hospital doesn't allow access to FB so I can't go on there for now :( I can check my e-mail though! :) TTYS!
Deb:
LOL! OMG, girl! You make me laugh! Every time I see a vid on YouTube about "Twilight" or Rob/Edward, I think of you and your Team Edward shirt. Mmmmmm...Rob. He's so dreamy.
Mrinz:
You are soooo right! I was shocked at some of the things the other moms were talking about! REALLY shocked! Someone once told me that "pregnant women have no shame". I think it's true! They talk about sooooo many things so openly! Too funny! :)
Wish you could visit me too! ;)
Calf Keeper:
Yes, one more week is definitely a good thing! In 3 days we will be 28 weeks! The doc said she wouldn't be surprised if I had the baby at week 30 or 32. At least that's a lot better than in the 20s, right? :)
HAHAHA! Oh, you really made me laugh so hard with the "you haven't seen a real mucus plug until you've seen a COW'S mucus plug!" HAHAHA! That is soooo true! So true and so icky! LOL!
Thanks for the laugh! Gah! I thought I was about to go into labour from all that laughing though! LOL!
Do you thing there's a market for DESIGNER compression stockings?! Or sports-related ones?! Hmmmmm.
I think you look gorgeous. Hubby looks wonderful. And Junior is doing what he/she is supposed to be doing... staying put! Again... let all of us do all the worrying for you. Just enjoy this "Mommy-ride"!
Sending lots of love and lots of prayers your way!
Remember the early/mid 90s, when baby doll dresses and thigh high tights were the rage? I was too old and cellulitey to join in, so of course I always thought those girls were tramps! (If I could have gotten away with it, I'd have been one of the tramps, too!)
So...TRAMP! There, I'll bet that's one thing you didn't expect to get called in the hospital. ;)
So glad you're keeping your sense of humor and able to post the latest in fashion statements for mothers to be in bed rest.
hi c - liked your nail clipper comments. yeah, it would be hard to try to trim your toenails in your condition!!!
the hospital gowns are definitely NOT sexy. you feel so undignified wearing those things, eh?

hey c - team edward or team jacob or team switzerland? ha ha
btw, i just emailed you some pictures. sorry the files are so big. i didn't know how to reduce them on my laptop. i apologize ahead of time for the extreme closeups of my pores and eye wrinkles. ugh.

wth!!!!
If I'm in Toronto - I'll hire a manicurist to come over to the hospital and have a spa session.
Hugs and kisses!!!!
I lost my mucus plug in bits and pieces a few weeks back. The good thing? If nothing else happens, it will regenerate.
Just one more week (and then another and another...)
And the stockings? Sex-ay!
Looking good, C.! Love those stockings. They often have people who will come in and give you a mani-pedi. I bet one of the staff can help you out.
Hang in there you two (three).
its great that you "need" your hubby- I see that as a good sign of your deep relationship! hang in there with jr...you're almost there~
does hubby know how to post pics or an update when you deliver?
Oh, hang in there!
I bet the hospital would have a pair of nail clippers you could use. Maybe ask your nurse?
xoxo
