Precious Moments

Since the baby and I will be in Toronto until the doctors think she is ready to go home, we don't get to see Hubby much. Our life on the Island is really busy and getting off Island is hard for him. He is going to try to get to Toronto every other week (if possible) to spend time with us.
Today was a joyful reunion. I hadn't seen Hubby in 16 days! The last time he saw his daughter was when she was born almost three weeks ago!
We had a lot of quality time together and I let Hubby bond with his baby girl.I even let him change her diaper and take her temperature. He changed her diaper and cleaned her twice today and he got to hold her on low flow for two hours. Normally I hold her for two hours while the doctors and nurses are trying her off her CPAP, but I wanted Hubby to be able to connect with her. She seemed so comfortable in her Daddy's arms.

Being away from Hubby for so long has really shown me that I hate being without him. Being apart while our baby is in the NICU has been really difficult. I can't wait for the day when our baby is big enough and strong enough to come home with us and we can be together as a family.

All tuckered out :) Hubby has to go back to the Island tomorrow :( It's almost December and that means my birthday, Christmas and New Year's are just around the corner. Hopefully Hubby will be able to be with us for at least one of those occasions. If I could have my way, he'd be with us for ALL of those special days, but I have to be practical and realistic. It is 6 hr drive to Toronto and Hubby has to work while I'm at the hospital with the baby for the next few weeks. The good news is that she is doing really well and this week will be 31 weeks corrected. It's all a matter of time before she can go home :)

Dina:
Danielle called this evening and wants to come visit the baby and me on Friday. Are you free then? Maybe the two of you can come together and take turns visiting the baby and watching your little girls. We can go for a bite to eat or something if you want. I feed and hold her from 10AM to noon. After 12 would be great :) Let me know.

What a trying time it is for you both. Fitting in farm work as well as 6 hours driving to be with you must be very hard for your husband. And for you not to have him by your side is equally as difficult.

Good news to hear that she is such a little fighter and doing so very well.

Hurray for Family Reunions! I bet he was shocked at how much she has changed.

I know his heading back to the Island is going to be really hard on you. Just think of how much bigger and stronger she will be the next time he can come back down to Toronto!

Little One already has Daddy's heart and soul... never mind his big, strong arms! These photos are more precious than you will ever imagine. In years to come, you will look at them with Little One... and she will be amazed at the love and strength and happiness and joy of her BEING! This is a true gift.

Hey... it's almost December. Then January. Before you know it, you will be singing and talking to Little One in the car on her adventure home! Sending so much love your way...

Did I say I love the photos!

I am going away tomorrow on holiday for about 10 days- to a remote island - and won't have access to a computer.

I look forward to reading your posts ans seeing your Little One's progress when I return!

I hadn't realized it had been so long since you saw your hubby!!! That must be hard for you both. I admire how wonderful, beautiful, and strong you and your family are.

Little Bit is looking beautiful! She is so little!

love love love the pictures!! She is so sweet, and she's getting a little belly- yay!! I can't wait to meet her someday (and you too.. haha!)

My hubby and some co-workers are heading down to downtown TO for a conference - if there's anything you need brought down to you from home, I'm sure we could figure it out! (seriously.)

I'm so happy you could have your hubby with you this weekend! :)

I am SO glad to hear he was able to make it for a visit. I can only imagine how difficult this must be for both you of being apart. I hope the next few weeks pass quickly and smoothly so you can start your lives together.

Still keeping you all in my thoughts.
